Hong Kong Wan Chai District 4-star Hotels

Absolutely Outstanding Stay! Our experience at the Hong Kong Empire Hotel Wan Chai was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful staff who made us feel welcome and taken care of throughout our stay. The room exceeded all expectations — it was spacious, spotlessly clean, and incredibly quiet. We couldn’t hear any noise from the street or neighboring rooms, which allowed us to fully relax and enjoy a peaceful rest. The bed was extremely comfortable with soft linens that made it hard to get up in the morning! One of the highlights was the breakfast, which truly surprised us in the best way. It was included in the room rate and offered an impressive variety of delicious, high-quality options — plentiful, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. We left feeling completely refreshed and very happy with our stay. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to Hong Kong. Highly recommended!

Check in was okay. I have been an Accor plus member for many many years. Just because I did not book directly with Accor, I was not entitled to a welcome drink. The mattress in the room was too soft for my back as I have a back issue and due for surgery in Jun 2025. Moreover, the bedsheet is dusty. I was scratching when in bed. So instead of staying 2 nights, I decided to check out one day earlier. I understand that I booked a non refundable booking but the staff at Novotel told me to write to Trip.com. When I contacted Trip com, they told me Novotel will not give a refund of the one night because of the cancellation policy. Will not consider staying there again.

The hotel room was quite roomy and has its own toilet, okay cleanliness, there was a bark/leaf on the carpet but otherwise sheets and towels did not have weird smells. The front desk and room cleaning ladies were friendly, i lost my usb c wire and they got it for me. Only con would be the location, only reachable by some busses and ting ting cars, and most of the time have to use the overhead passage, i carried my 20kg luggage over it under the summer heat 😮💨 the hotel does have free shuttle service but if you plan to go places till late night best to stick to hotels close to MTR (this one is not).

Once if you take the chance to walk around its neighborhood then you will find It has very easy access to Victoria Park , Pattersons Street, Sogo department store - all within 10 minutes walk. Room size is acceptable for HK standard: adequate space to place/store your belongings! Higher level had much lovely views of city views ! Only complaint is the elevator is bit slow and the going down direction escalator was out of the order during our 5 days stay.

All the hotel staff are extremely hospitable, professional, and polite. However, that is the only positive aspect of the hotel. The property is very basic and desperately in need of renovation. On the travel app, it is advertised as one of the top 20 most Instagrammable hotels in Hong Kong, but I have no idea what one would photograph. The swimming pool on the 27th floor was locked, but through the door, I could see that it was very small and shallow—unsuitable even for children. The location is right next to a street market, which can get extremely crowded. Breakfast, advertised as a semi-buffet, was very simple and below average. This review is directed at IHG, as they should seriously consider renovating the property. The staff are doing their best, but as it stands, this is hardly a 4-star hotel. I initially chose it because of my previous stay at Indigo Bangkok, which was a much better experience.

The place is close to tram and mrt which made our commute easier. Unfortunately, it is too far from disneyland. The hotel was clean and neat. However, the room is small and too tight. The receptionist seems friendly because they gave us extra bath towel during our stay. No free bottled water so you need to buy from the convenience store. They have free hot drinks at the ground floor near the elevator lobby. Though we only found out later because we were never brief upon check in. Too sad. There also self service laundry in the hotel. Overall, I am satisfied with our stay.

A convienence hotel location, 3 mins walk to MTR, bus, ding ding… Lots of bar/ convi stores nearby. The rooms has plenty of plugs with UK style and USB A port. The queen bed 1.5m is quite tight for family 2+1. Minus points are (i) the lift operates with **** upon going up/down (ii) the restroom smell not good as seems like leakage tubs althought ventilator are on almost the time

Clean comfortable bed, service was good and friendly. Room was spacious. Nothing much to complain about, just that the hot water was not hot enough even turned knob to far left end and weather still slightly cold at this time of year… don’t know if it’s because of high floor ? Room decor was dated but not worn out and is cleanly maintained well….  Bedside USB charging ports are loose unable to charge so needs replacement  Location is Wan Chai rather quiet and late night no food around as mainly I think is a corporate CBD area on HK Island which cannot be compared to Tsim Tsai Tsu bustling night scene. Though there are a few good restaurants across the street on Johnston Rd … Boston Restaurant is a good place! There is a Manning shop opens till 9:30pm and a Supermarket opens till 11pm. Quaint area as there is a functioning Old Tram system still operating… 👍👍👍 If u take to Wan Chai MTR amd have heavy luggage’s it’s advisable to use Lift next to A1/A2 Exit to access Hennessy Rd 5mins walk to hotel )see photo of lift location )

The hotel is in a great location — the A11 airport bus stop (Airport ＞ Wan Chai) is right at the entrance, and the stop for A11 (Wan Chai ＞ Airport) is just a 5–6 minute walk away. Several other bus routes and tram stops are also within a 5-minute walking distance. In terms of service, the front desk staff were professional and friendly. Since the hotel doesn’t provide toothbrushes or toothpaste, they made sure to kindly remind me of this at check-in. Housekeeping was thorough, and it’s clear that the hotel puts effort into maintaining its facilities. Aside from needing to go up to the 19th floor for the water dispenser and the room being small (which is quite typical for hotels in Hong Kong), everything else was great. The bath amenities were of good quality — shampoo and body wash didn’t leave my hair feeling too dry. If the hairdryer had a bit more power, it would’ve been perfect!

Loved our stay here. The location is great, only 8 min away from the station. We got upgraded to the better rooms, though we didn’t get views, the room was modern and clean. Does not feel small and has a small lounge space which is a huge plus for sorting our luggage. Would stay again!
