I liked this hotel. Really good staff big room.woukd need a golf cart or scooter to get there. Away from the hustle and busy north beach..Includes entrance into Ha tin beach club across the street. Included breakfast. Beach club super fun. Thumbs up to Raol the manager.

Reserved a room in January for spring break in April. Arrived at check-in and told they had no rooms available- even though we had a reservation confirmed already.. The hotel over booked and gave our room away. Prior to arriving at casa azul we chatted about golf cart rental/ so they absolutely had our confirmed reservation. Angel didn’t apologize even once- and we spent hours trying to find another room on the island. After hours of trying we found the last available room at a different hotel- it was spring break so everything was full. Traumatizing and absolutely terrible experience! Traveled from USA to arrive to our room being given to someone else with no place to go! Be careful if you book here! If I could give zero rating I would!

I enjoyed my stay at Casa Azul Maya and would recommend it as a nice place from which to explore the southern part of Isla Mujeres on foot. We enjoyed walking from the room to the east side of the island and then south along the rocky coast on a foot path to Punta Sur, where for $100MXN, you get entry into a preserve with walking trails on both sides of the narrow southern tip of the island with amazing views of crashing waves on rocks. The hotel has no pool or restaurant on site, but has an agreement with two beach clubs to provide those services. A wristband gains you entry into the beach and dock at Kin Ha, which is about 100 ft down the street, and the Mayan Beach Club, which is at Playa Norte. We only spent time at Kin Ha, and it was very pleasant. As part of our stay, we enjoyed free off-the-menu breakfasts at Kin Ha. I really enjoyed the Pablano Omelette each morning. We also spent a lot of time there snorkeling just off the wooden dock. They provide snorkeling equipment, but we had our own. There is no sandy beach, as the waves crash all the way up to under the wooden deck at all times, but there are plenty of chairs on the wood deck to sit and enjoy. Snorkeling was so-so, as the water was murky while we were there, but we still saw loads of gorgeous fish, particularly around the end of the dock. There are 4 small pools, 2 reserved for small children, and the lowest for swim-up bar/dining, so if you're an adult and have a desire to actually swim there's a small area for that. The hotel room itself was clean and efficient, but not much on frills. We stayed on the lower floor, so our view from the room was simply a narrow street, but honestly there were such large trees and vines even the second floor had only limited views of the ocean. A fridge, microwave and water jug refilled daily were all useful to us. The beds were comfy, though there were no blankets and no matter how warm it is I often desire a blanket at night. The in-room safe was easy to use. The shower leaked a little into the bathroom tiles, especially with longer showers, so it kind of got watery and messy with 4 of us showering each morning, but that's a minor thing since we spent most of the day in water anyway. The wifi was pretty weak, but who cares? I was there for the ocean, not the web! The front desk staff were very nice. They allowed us to store our bags in the office for 4 hours after checkout since our next location didn't check-in until 4:00. The front desk also called a cab for us to take us to the next location.

After feeling ill a fee days, waking up with red eyes, drainage, itchy eyes, barely being able to brewthe out of my nose, I looked for the culprit… a ton of BLACK MOLD ON SHOWER CEILING! i complained to the receptionist…. they bleached the ceiling… …having bleached the shower, still doesnt remove the mold. It turns the mold white. Mold had deep roots and must have a fungicidal put on it to clean it for porous surfaces. The receptionist argued and had the maintenance man tell me bleach works and theyll paint over it to seal it. The receptionist asked why I didnt mention this earlier, well, because I didnt see it earlier. We only slept in the room and I kept waking up feeling awful. i had felt great when I first arrived to isla (covid negative times two). Thankfully we only had one night left as I asked for a refund but the receptionist argued with me about this process until we were back to our room at 2pm to grab our things to at least switch from the room with black mold on ceiling to hopefully another room and then he said he would refund us but at 2pm there was no point in trying to find another resort to reserve and check into. Had they approved the refund the night before we gladly would have left. They tried to cover the mold smell with a diffuser, two wall plug ins, a small dehumidifier that did not work, two damp rid containers that are supposed to absorb moisture and the disappointing part was our windows did not have screens and we already had some bugs in our room so it was impossible to get a good breezy air flow in our room to help get some fresh air. The second room also had mold that they bleached ofd shower ceiling as you could smell some bleach and see wet liquid marks on the ceiling. We also complained about the door entry locks as did the couple in the room next to us. we struggled to enter and exit the room which could be a hazard were there ever a fire there. The breakfast at the mayan beach club was delicious and the staff was wonderful!

We had a wonderful time here. Great location away from all of the tourists on the north side of the island. Right across the street from beach. Rooms are large and comfy. Office staff very friendly and helpful. Can't say enough about this place!

Completely disappointed in this stay at a bare minimum motel that felt dark and cave-like in the room, with a horrible shower that had about 5 minutes of hot water before turning to cool and I never felt decently clean the entire time. The blue pool photos are of a private residence above the motel. You are able to use the Kin-Ha beach club across the street for a pool that is made for families. There isn't a beach, but a dock with chairs that you can swim from. A breakfast entree is included with your daily stay. They share access with the Mayan Beach club at the northern end of the island, breakfast is also available there, and you should get there early to reserve a chair on the beach. There is no reason to be at this end of the island, nothing much to do and a quick taxi ride from anywhere. I would not recommend this to couples.

We visited the island for one day and had an amazing time. Damien was the receptionist who checked us in and showed us our rooms. He was very helpful, accommodating, and so sweet! We loved that the hotel is off of the beaten path and a minute walk from the kin ha beach club. After check out, we were able to store our luggage and hang out at the beach club for the day. The only issue we had was that the bottom room smelled like mold. Hopefully they will get that resolved asap. Aside from that, we would stay again!

The hotel itself was beautiful and very clean. Rooms are well-sized and finishes are great. Location is close to a lovely beach club (1 minute walk) and it is very easy to get around the island. Reception / concierge was very helpful with organizing taxis, questions about the island, and anything we needed relating to the hotel rooms. I visited with friends and they easily accommodated a large group.

I've stayed at this location multiple times and have thoroughly enjoyed every single stay. The rooms are very clean and organized with air conditioning, the beds are super comfortable, and bathrooms are elegant. This is great for family trips, couples, or larger groups. The receptionists are very accommodating and any questions/requests are immediately resolved. I will continue to stay here every time I visit the island!
