Review: 5-Star Hotel Stay – Mixed Experience. I recently stayed at this 5-star hotel Aug 2025, which, despite its grandeur, is showing its age at nearly a decade old. The property retains an elegant charm, but certain aspects left me with mixed feelings. Room and Cleanliness: The room was impressively spacious, a highlight of the stay, with a bit old decor and ample space to relax. However, the cleanliness was average at best. While the surfaces appeared tidy, there were noticeable signs of wear, and the pervasive smell of cigarette smoke was a major downside. I had specifically requested a non-smoking room through Trip.com and reiterated this during check-in, but was informed that no non-smoking rooms were available. As a gesture, the staff upgraded me to a higher-tier room, which I appreciated, but the cigarette odor was still strong, lingering in both the room and the hotel corridors. This was particularly disappointing for a 5-star property. Service Issue: To address the smoke smell, I called room service to request an air freshener. After waiting 30 minutes with no delivery, I had to call again. The second time, the staff promptly delivered it, which helped slightly, but the experience felt inconsistent with the hotel’s luxury branding. Amenities: On a positive note, the breakfast was exceptional—diverse, mix of local and International cuisine. The swimming pool was another highlight, well-maintained, and a relaxing spot to unwind with an indoor and outdoor scenic view. Overall: While the spacious rooms, fantastic breakfast, and nice pool were highlights, the cigarette smell and inconsistent service detracted from the experience. For a 5-star hotel, I expected better attention to cleanliness and guest requests. I’d recommend this hotel for its amenities but urge management to address the smoking issue and improve service responsiveness to truly meet 5-star standards. Rating: 3.5/5

Facilities: New furniture. Safe provided. Cleanliness: Newly renovated. Environment: Restaurants line the basement floor. 24-hour laundry service across the street. Pick up your clothes after 3 hours. NT$60,000 for under 3kg. NT$45,000 for 12 hours. Service: Daily linen change.

I saw a high score before I stayed, not far from the old town, health and service are good. But be sure to know: the room is very small, the window is sealed, no towels are provided, there are 2 bath towels, I use the corner of the bath towel to make do with the face, no breakfast, no table and stool, if you want to work, you can go to bed and go down, there is a little, The hotel's sockets are all Indonesian standards, and the domestic must bring the adapter, the hotel does not have it. I really can't, repeatedly communicate, the hotel front desk clerk gave me the adapter of a device at the front desk to unplug for me. It may be the habits and life differences between the two countries. Personally, the locals may feel very normal. We have been difficult to get used to in the past, especially business travelers. Objective evaluation, service and health are good, thank you for the warm service of the service staff.

Overall comfortable stay, with Starbucks just outside of the hotel lobby for my daily caffeine fix. Located just 10 minutes away from Jakarta's Chinatown market, you can spend your morning walking their street stalls or visit other nearby mall such as Grand Paragon Mall.,

Great hotel and while the room is comfortable and adequate. Restaurant for breakfast have many choices and location of hotel very convenient.

In an old district, but the hotel was surprising clean and new looking. Very comfortable bed and pillows!

Beautiful stay. Just a 4 in service cause they say they have laundry but it’s not the self laundry so they should explain that on their Trip.com profile. All the other services are perfectly fine

Upon check in, we got a room which was located on 6th floor. Inside the room, there was no bath towel and we had to (literally) beg for bath towels. The towels made to our rooms after half an hour. We also found dead cockroach inside our room. The tv show a mirror view. There are a lot of things need to be fixed in this hotel. Its a sinking ship in my opinion. Too bad, because the location is very strategic.

This was my first time staying at Mercure Jakarta Kota. While the hotel is not new or luxurious, it offers all the essentials for a comfortable stay. The room was clean and well-maintained, and I was especially impressed by the soundproofing between the room and the corridor — very well done. There was still a bit of noise from outside, but nothing too disturbing. The location is also convenient — it’s about 1 km walk to Chinatown, and getting a taxi is very easy from the hotel. Breakfast was quite local in style, but still decent and satisfying. The staff at breakfast were all very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping did a great job during my stay. The bathroom is a bit old, but everything worked perfectly, including hot water and water pressure. The only real drawback is the elevator, which feels a bit outdated. However, considering the overall value for money, this is easy to overlook. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay. I was satisfied with everything and would definitely return next time I’m in Jakarta!

The location is good as it has many foods around the vicinity. However even being the newer Luminor but the cleanliness isn't up to any standards. I was promised some kind of compensation as my 1st night was dampened by a trip MCB in my room for many hours but after meeting with the manager, it went to deaf ears. False promises. Not even a courtesy notice of any kind.
