Peaceful hotel in the middle of the jungle. The lodges are super spacious, luminous et well furnished. The owners are super helpful and kind. Nice swimming pool, it was a pleasure to stay at GrandFather

Suitable for friends at home. The location is a bit remote but the environment is beautiful and very stylish.

Overpriced. They position themselves very highly, but in reality, there is a coffee machine, but they couldn’t make coffee, there are mosquito doors, but they close poorly and don’t close all the way, frogs scream under the window. Thai service, but it could be very good...

Very nice family resort. Clean and comfortable bungalows around a swimming pool. Popular by older people and young couples with children. You need your own transport or rent a motorbike(available at-the resort) for dinner, although the snapper restaurant is at walking distance. The resort restaurant only serves breakfast, Tip: the resort staf is happy to arrange transport (taxi) at very reasonable price to Phuket, Ranong, Kao Sok etc..

We stayed for 4 nights with 2 young children (1 and 7 years old). We arrived after a very long trip flying into Phuket from Amsterdam. We were the only guests staying before they closed for the season, but we never felt not welcome. On the contrary ;-)Mr Aom and his family took excellent care of us. We stayed in the family house on the ground floor which with our kids was great. Really really comfortable beds. They did not have a baby bed but provided us with a small matras that we put of the floor of the second bedroom. On our request they made us a daily breakfast that was simple but homemade and more than enough to start our day. You will need transport to get around Khao Lak as everything is spread out. We rented scooter from the resort. We really enjoyed Memories Beach bar, could easily have spend a day there. Best food we had was at Krua Thai restaurant, probably best in all our holiday, so do make the effort to go there. Also easy to spend a whole afternoon as the beach is gorgeous. We took the jungle trail to Small Sandy Beach, which was challenging with the kids but the beach itself is absolutely worth it. You can also take the easy 400mtr dirt road (we didn't know that...) A couple meters from the resort is Happy Snapper, a lovely restaurant with a great garden to explore. We tried the night market in Khoa Lak but were a bit disappointed by the quality of the food. All in all we truly enjoyed our stay at Grandfather Resort and Khao Lak was a good choice for us. Mr Aom arranged our transport to our next stop Khao Sok which was all well taken care of. Thank you Mr Aom and your family and cat Gucci. Will recommend.

Can't believe no one has bothered to review this resort on TA for 3 years. The good news is the 5* rating is being maintained. A wonderful establishment tucked away at the end of a windy soi. Secluded and surrounded by tropical beauty. Fabulous family hosts, super clean rooms and a lovely pool. Excellent breakfast. Sealable containers for cereals, cashews and almonds. Fresh fruit, eggs to order, bacon, juices, top-notch lattes etc. Yum. No restaurant for lunch/dinner but lots of options in KL. One of the better ones, Happy Snapper, a few mins walk. We had a hire car so could come and go easily to KL's beaches/restaurants. You can hire mopeds/bikes here and we were provided with details of a local taxi driver that we did not need so car not essential. Great value. Don't hesitate to book.

After 2 months in Asia, we stayed 3 days at this hotel. Our journey took us to 26 hotels, including several 5-star hotels. So the GP is truly an incredible quality-price hotel, nothing to envy anyone. The super comfortable room, hot water as desired (rare in Thailand 😁) delicious breakfast and the staff are gems. Notice to the owner of this hotel; We all want employees like yours…competent, dedicated, detail-oriented and kind. Hotel 10/10 nothing improved

We had a room with a super original clean and modern mezzanine. The breakfast was a very good buffet real coffee with toast and fried egg Nice and helpful staff Possibility to rent a motorbike on site 250 bath per day 15min by motorbike from activities to do on site Cascade to Chong fa White Sand beach Bamboo rafting Paradise beach Night market The only drawback is that you have to cross the main road to go to the restaurant shops

We spent 14 wonderful days here from January 10th, 2023 to January 24th, 2023. This small complex is wonderfully embedded in the middle of tropical nature. The bungalows are built around the pool and it is wonderfully quiet. Anyone looking for peace and relaxation has come to the right place. Mr. Aom and all the employees are super friendly and were there for us with all our questions and requests. The bungalows and apartments are very stylish and clean. The beds are comfortable and nice and big. Breakfast is prepared with love and you can get chilled water from the water dispenser all day long. There is a laundry service, free bikes and scooters to rent for a fee. You can also book taxi services and excursions with Mr. Aom. It is around 2-3 km to the nearest beach, the Bang Niang market and the center of Khaolak and a stone's throw by scooter. The really nice Snapper restaurant is just 100 meters away on foot. We enjoyed the cocktails and food there with cool live music. It won't be our last stay in this little paradise! 😍

We spent 3 weeks in this heavenly place. Everything was perfect and impeccable, the room, the garden, the swimming pool, the breakfasts and above all the availability and the great kindness of the owners. (A warm and caring family team) If we come back to KAO LAK, we will come back to Grandfather.

Positiv: Sehr schönes, familiengeführtes Resort! Das Resort liegt versteckt, abseits dem Trubel und ist für Ruhesuchende genau das Richtige! Ein Auto oder ein Roller ist hier ein Muss. Die Roller können allerdi Direkt in der Unterkunft ausgeliehen werden und es stehen kostenlos Fahrräder zur Verfügung. Die Bungalows sind wunderschön eingerichtet. Das Personal ist sehr sehr herzlich und nett. Das Personal spricht schlecht englisch und deutsch, mittels Google translate und Händen und Füssen hat es aber funktioniert. Wäsche Service wird ebenfalls angeboten. Zwar etwas teuerer als an der Strasse, dafür gebügelt, gefaltet ;). Bei unserer Abreise wurden wir ausreichen mit lime leaves, limettengrass und galanga aus dem Garten versorgt, damit wir zuhause unsere Tom gha Kai Suppe kochen können :)) Wir haben uns mehr als wohl gefühlt und können das Resort nur empfehlen. Negativ:Bei Anreise wird ein Formular zur Verfügung gestellt welches man ausfüllen soll, in dem nach der Zahlungsweise gefragt wird. Unter anderem kann die kartenzahlung gewählt werden. Bei der abreise hiess es jedoch Cash only

Ein kleines Paradies mit Einschränkungen. Anlage ist schön angelegt. Bungalow in Ordnung. Leider so gut wie keine Ablage für Kleider. AC funktioniert, aber laut. Der Pool wäre schön aber leider nicht gepflegt. Wasser teilweise sehr trüb. Erst auf Nachfrage haben sie Desinfektionsmittel reingekippt, ohne je die Werte gemessen zu haben. Sehr enttäuscht waren wir von der Vermietung der Roller. Die Roller waren in einem erbärmlichen Zustand. Bremsen, Reifen nicht funktionsfähig. Wir hatten einen Reifenplatzer, den wir mit viel Glück unbeschadet überstanden haben. Wir haben uns auf dem Weg einen neuen Reifen aufziehen lassen und auch bezahlt. Als wir die Tatsache angesprochen haben hat uns der Deutsche Ehemann der Managerin Mon. Mitgeteilt dass die roller jedesmal durchgechekt werden bevor sie vermietet werden. Unsere Beobachtung hat das keineswegs bestätigt. Er wurde sehr aggressiv und hat uns empfohlen doch einen Anwalt zu nehmen. Es ging lediglich um 16 Euro. Wir waren 3 Wochen in diesem Resort und das passierte schon am 2. Tag. Ich warne ausdrücklich davor sich dort einen Roller zu mieten. An der Main road gibt es genug Verleiher mit ordentlichen Maschinen. Es ist schade dass sie das kleine Paradies durch wirklich leicht zu behebende Mängel langsam zerstören. Die Unzufriedenheit mehrerer Gäste war leider die Grundstimmung vor Ort
