Family-friendly Hotels in Killarney

Did not eat breakfast, don't know how. The room is big enough and the two beds are big enough. We only have two people. I don’t know if we can add an extra bed. The room is not soundproof, but it is quiet after 12 o'clock. The hotel is like a resort, the environment is very good, suitable for bringing children, not in the city center, suitable for self-driving tours, there is free parking.

This hotel is a good location for driving the Ring of Kerry and visiting the Dingle Peninsula. It's also about a 15-minute walk to downtown, and there is a local brewery a few blocks away with really good beer. If you drive, the parking lot is pretty small, with limited spaces. Staff was friendly and the room was clean, though if visiting in the summer, the air-conditioning is limited. As with most European hotels, no coffee in the lobby in the morning, but there is a convenient store across the street with really good coffee. If we were to visit Killarney again, we would definitely consider staying at the Dromhall.

OK, there is a parking lot nearby. Breakfast is usually limited to one person per person, and one more for one euro.

Excellent for visiting Killarney and surrounding area. 20 minute brisk walk into town. On main road which was noisy from the balcony rooms so bear in mind if you want more peace go around the back. A relaxed and friendly hotel.

So we stayed last night for 1 night. Checked in and the room was just lovely. Very well decorated and you could tell a lot of thought went into the design. Overall it is a lovely hotel. Great lobby very nice bar. We dined in the bar last night and the food and service were excellent. Not a single issue. Staff could not have been nicer. However this morning was not so good. We looked forward to a lovely breakfast considering our experience the night before with the excellent food in the bar. The breakfast was shocking to say the least. We went for breakfast at 09.30. So the cold offerings were fine .But the hot buffet was obviously not been checked by anyone. The hash browns were overcooked and inedible. The fried egg tray was empty, scrambled eggs were , again , inedible they had been there so long. Sausages were over cooked and only barely warm. I did have 2 sausage as there was really no other option. Also no mushrooms in the tray. It wasn't that they were short staffed. They had 4 or 5 servers so for me no excuse. One of the staff should have the responsibility to monitor the buffet. I did mention this at checkout, They say your last impression of a hotel will be its breakfast prior to checkout. Not at all good on this occasion . My wife and I are retired and we stay in hotels 2 or 3 times a month .We dont expect perfection all the time but with the rates people are now paying for hotel stays a good breakfast in the least we can expect. This will explain the 3 star rating

The hotel courtyard is beautiful, the room facilities are a bit old-fashioned, the breakfast is particularly good, semi-buffet plus ordering, whether it is half-buffet or semi-buffet is first-class English breakfast, the service industry is quite good.

I recently had my wedding at the Great Southern Hotel Killarney. They went above and beyond for us. Majority of our guests, including ourselves, stayed at the hotel for 4 nights/l. Accommodation - spacious, warm, quiet, heavenly. Breakfast - phenomenal l. So many options including a menu Staff - Michaela, our wedding coordinator was amazing. So friendly, responsive and managed everything so easily even when there were last min changes. Simply brilliant. Gillian - events coordinator - our superstar. So personable, kept everything ticking along with the sit down meal, speeches, line up of entertainment etc. A very caring lady who simply is amazing at her job. We had no worries when Gillian was on the job. Sean - the fantastic doorman, so friendly. Put my nerves at ease every time I met him. Steven - our wedding host, another gentleman who hosted our wedding tastings as well as the wedding. So friendly, making sure myself and guests were always looked after Ryan - another lovely gentleman who was present the night of the wedding. His constant check ins with me were a comfort. The staff - all the staff are amazing, professional and so friendly. Top class staff that I simply cannot find fault with. This hotel feels like home to me & I can’t wait to revisit Thanks so much for making our wedding magical and impressing all of our wedding guests with your professionalism and friendly manners. We came across this hotel by pure chance. The entrance inside and courteous reception staff was a welcome after a long drive. The corridors and room were clean as if it had a refurbishment and my room was lovely, spacious and the view from the window was a tree canopy, personally I loved it; sitting on the windowsill and tune in with nature listening to birds singing - relaxing. The food was superb and catered for my elderly Mother thank you; great atmosphere too. I didn't avail of the leisure centre as it was 9am opening due to an early start on the road, but I will next time. I would say the front of the building would need painting but no doubt that is on the cards and a few window hinges need looking at, that being said couldn't fault this hotel and would put some five star hotels to shame. A gem of a find and look forward to returning- thank you.
