The breakfast is simple, the location is easy to find, the scenery is beautiful by the lake, the rooms are small, the facilities are old, pets are allowed, there is a bar and resident singers in the evening, the atmosphere is good, the price is high

Booked over the phone, asked for half 6 as they advertised as opening at 5pm however were told we could only be seated at 7pm which was fair enough, however when we arrived there was one other table in the whole restaurant so clearly enough space.  They also couldn’t find our booking on the system and there was lots of eye rolling while the receptionist tried to find out if anyone had recorded our booking.   The waiter seemed a few sandwiches short of a picnic but was trying his best to take our order, we were informed that it was best to order drinks at the bar or on the app, which wasn’t working, but when we went up the bartender/receptionist seemed extreme frustrated to be adding our drinks onto our table order as the computer system also seemed to have problems.  My partner ordered the Killin burger, Brie parcels and I ordered a steak done medium rare.  The steak was completely inedible, it must have been sitting in a freezer and slow cooked as I’ve never had meat so chewy, and it hadn’t been seared, and was cold when it reached us.  After sawing through it and taking a bite we immediately sent it back having touched none of the food on the plate.  My partner and I eat out very regularly and have had a couple below average meals but this is the first time anything’s been bad enough to send back, waitress was very apologetic and offered to substitute with another meal however we’d had enough and decided to pay instead.  After all this the bartender insisted there was no possible way of taking the steak off the bill as the chefs insisted there was nothing wrong with it.  I have worked as a waitress myself and would never try to get a free meal if I’d actually eaten any of the food but we weren’t paying £56 to have had a main between us, only after threatening to walk with more customers seeming to listen if we couldn’t just pay for what we ate was it removed.  Also heard a family telling their children please not to eat their food while waving about a whole block of ‘cooked’ rice on the end of a fork.  Such a waste of a lovely building situated with a really scenic view over the river, appreciate it can be hard with staffing levels but clearly needs new management, chefs, and a change in food supplier.

If I could give 0 I would don't let the beautiful exterior fool you. As soon as I entered I felt like I was in limbo, couldn't find a member of staff without searching the building when I was finally greeted it was as if I had stumbled into his home uninvited our reservation we put in for dinner hadn't been put on the system and we waited ten minutes trying to convince him we had phoned prior to booking. As we entered the restraunt there were 2 people seated and a dozen tables laying empty. We ordered cheese bites a burger and a ribeye steak when the food came out we had no cutlery and when we asked for some we got no steak knife after resolving this issue my other half started sawing away at the ribeye with her teeth gritted and white knuckle grip after a while she finally managed to saw a piece of steak off however she spent the next few minutes trying to chew and swallow, what a nightmare. We sent the food back after that single bite and just asked for the bill to pay for everything else we ordered as we just wanted to leave this awful place. This got into a heated argument as the manager was refusing to take the steak off the bill which was 24 pound. We have never sent food back before but this was truly terrible so refused to pay eventually he took it off. Staff were arguing the whole time the managers way off treating and speaking to customers was terrible. As I left this dreaded place all I could hear were other customers complaining and groaning about the food and service. Recommend staying as far away as possible from here if your in the area.
