"Pleased with the experience here at the The Sarpidon. I found it to be very clean, friendly and as a solo traveller( 3rd time in Crete) , the clientele is made up of plenty of frequent visitors who were wonderful to meet and chat too. The lovely Anne and Peter, Jane and Michelle and the hilarious Marie from Ireland - in promise I will return the glass 😇. The rapport the staff have with visitors is priceless. You could have paid 10 times the cost and still not received the attention and friendliness that I feel I had received here . Apologies to Dora who had to chase me down the street because I forgot to pay for my last snack - 100 m sprint better than an Olympic event. So sorry Dora 🙏. Won’t happen again 🫣. Situated right in the centre of Old Malia, close to a very convenient travel route that can take you from one end of the island to the other, with buses coming every 20 minutes. Take a walk out of the west exit of hotel and you find yourself in a delightful and quaint Old Village of Malia , rich in historic buildings, some converted into stunning restaurants and picture postcard beautiful streets. Sarpido also offers delicious meals and drinks reasonably priced and plenty on offer . The beach is in walking distance about 400 m or so but the beach on Malia is squeezed with so many sunbeds you’re near on top of each other - preferred the lovely cove at Hersonnisos 24 or around the pool the days I wasn’t off exploring. Sarpidon is ideally situated, surrounded by a stunning backdrop of mountains yet has everything you need for a memorable, relaxing holiday . Highly recommend. Keep Euros and change . Much preferred than card ."

"Me and my friend have just come back from an unreal week staying in malia. The hotel was genuinely perfect lovely reception and staff. The reception area closes every night at 9pm. Location is perfect it’s situated right on the strip which is perfect for the nightlife. 10–15 mins walk to the beach and about 10 to malia old town. There’s also a big supermarket located about 5 mins away. Considering the hotel is located right on the strip the hotel is very quiet and you could not hear any noise from the strip. Air conditioning is such a reasonable price at around 7€ per day and it works amazingly. The maid was also lovely and did a really good job of cleaning the room she offered swapping the towels every other day. The pool over at the help bar, which is just across the road is perfect for what you need plenty of sun loungers and a grassed area too. The lady who works there is so lovely. You’re not allowed to bring in any food or drink from outside which is understandable as it is a bar, however we were often ok with just having a bottle of water with us. At night time they also offer some really good drink deals so would also recommend that. However, the only issue we faced was the transfer. We booked a package holiday with easyJet and our flight was a late night flight it was supposed to land around 10pm Crete time however we were delayed 2 hours and ended up getting to the location around 2am. The transfer pick up and drop off location is at the McDonalds on the strip approx 10 mins walk to the hotel. Me and my friend had to drag our suitcases through crowds of drunk people and dodge reps trying to drag us into their bars even with our suitcases. Just something to be very aware if you do have a late night flight during the busier season as this walk turns into a 20 minute due to the obstacles. 😂😭 For the price we paid Le Palme was really worth every penny we loved our stay and we would come back and stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you❤️"

"Stayed here with a friend in June and absolutely loved it. The room was big, super clean, and had a private balcony with an amazing sea view—waves, stars, even a little chapel on an island. Total peace and privacy. We slept with the screen door open every night—no bugs, no AC needed: just the sound of the sea. The fridge was convenient, and in the pool bar drinks and meals are available. Staff was lovely, even served us a late meal when we arrived around midnight. Parking was easy, and it’s a great base for visiting spots like Sissi and the Minoan ruins. After exploring, we’d relax by the pool or garden—no loud music, just sea breeze. Malia’s restaurants are close by, and at walking distance. Just a small wish? A couple of hooks in the bathroom and a luggage stand would be handy. But that’s just nitpicking—this place is a gem."

"Stayed for 10 nights and had a lovely time. The owners/managers took the time to get to know us. They were very caring when my daughter became unwell. Always managed to get a sunbed and we had the perfect room on the ground floor. Would have liked a microwave but we made do with what there was and had the best time. Rooms were spacious but air con is a must. Lovely bar and the girls behind the bar are fantastic. Food was great and prices are very reasonable. We really enjoyed sitting out of an evening and playing pool. Would definitely recommend. Great location for bars, restaurants and shops. Please visit Atlas as what an amazing little gift shop that is. Stole my daughter’s heart. Scoop is also a must for a visit. We went most evenings for crepes, waffles and ice cream."

"My 2 friends and I had never been to Malia before had no idea what it was going to be like. We were so surprised and shocked!! Our hotel room had an incredible view of the hills and mountains in the backdrop it was extremely stunning. The pool area was lovely and clean and quiet in terms of no rowdiness and full of a mixed crowd of people; girls on holidays, families and elderly folk. Our room was spot on and clean The most important one for me personally was the staff especially the ones at the bar/food area by the pool! Layla and the others were so good to me personally always offering lovely compliments asked how I was and made me feel special as a young man in his mid 20s. I could be myself around everyone and they loved it!! I will definitely return to Malia but more specifically I will return to Maria Rousse Hotel!! If I could I would rate it a 5 star but in fact a 100 star hotel Reiss"
