"Stayed in this hotel on a girls holiday in a group of 7. Staff were lovely for the whole trip, especially the waiter from lunch (we didn’t catch his name) and the security staff. Breakfast was a small buffet, but nice; dinner was okay however we chose to eat out most days. Lunch was always lovely, and the chef was very knowledgeable about my gluten intolerance. Rooms were smaller than the photos, quite cramped for a room of 3 girls. The pool area was lovely with incredibly comfy sunbeds!!! Only downside is the walk into malia is quite inconvenient, with many men catcalling out of their cars. Overall would definitely stay again!"

"AWFUL HOTEL Recently stayed with a group, had a very large amount of money stolen from the safe. Cleaner made petty trips to our room, e.g to drop 2 towels off yet there was 4 of us in a room and made no effort of cleaning. On this occasion we came back from the beach and found over €300 euros missing. Hotel explained we must have been stealing off each other & the cleaner has been there 20 years so it couldn’t have been them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS"

"Disappointing Stay – Wouldn’t Return We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights in June 2026, and unfortunately I don’t think we’d return. On arrival at around midnight, we were told by the night security guard, Mike, that our room wasn’t ready and we’d be staying in a temporary room for the first night. While this wasn’t ideal after travelling, Mike was extremely friendly and apologetic, and the temporary room was excellent. It was modern, bright and well-equipped with a TV, air conditioning, kettle, coffee machine and extra amenities. It was quiet, comfortable and left us with a great first impression. Unfortunately, everything changed the following morning when we were moved into our allocated room. We were immediately disappointed. The room felt like a significant downgrade from the temporary one, but we were told the hotel was fully booked and couldn’t stay where we were. The permanent room was basic and lacked many of the facilities we’d had the previous night. There was no TV, no kettle, no coffee machine, and even the air conditioning came at an extra cost, which felt unreasonable in the June heat. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the pillows were paper thin, and the bathroom had no door separating it from the bedroom. This meant one of us had to leave the room whenever the other showered, and the whole room became hot and humid afterwards. Things became even worse around the fourth night. There were frequent arguments, shouting and what sounded like physical fights in nearby rooms, along with loud banging and smashing noises. Being only a couple of doors from reception made it even worse, as the soundproofing was virtually non-existent. You could hear conversations at normal volume from reception through the room door, making it almost impossible to relax or get a good night’s sleep. One positive is that the housekeeping staff kept both rooms very clean. Having worked as a housekeeping supervisor myself for many years, I know what to look for, and the cleanliness was genuinely very good. However, the towel policy was one of the biggest disappointments. We left our used towels on the floor expecting them to be replaced, but instead they were simply hung back over the balcony to dry. When I asked reception for fresh towels because ours were still damp, I was told towels are only replaced every three days. While I understand changing bed linen every few days is common practice, I don’t think expecting fresh towels more regularly—especially during hot weather when you’re showering multiple times a day—is unreasonable. After that, we requested clean towels daily but were repeatedly told there weren’t any available. By the end of the holiday we had effectively been using the same towels for almost the entire week, and they were visibly dirty. This was completely unacceptable for any hotel. Breakfast was also disappointing, with stale cereal and bread on multiple mornings and very limited choice overall. The location is probably the hot"

"Stayed here with a friend in June and absolutely loved it. The room was big, super clean, and had a private balcony with an amazing sea view—waves, stars, even a little chapel on an island. Total peace and privacy. We slept with the screen door open every night—no bugs, no AC needed: just the sound of the sea. The fridge was convenient, and in the pool bar drinks and meals are available. Staff was lovely, even served us a late meal when we arrived around midnight. Parking was easy, and it’s a great base for visiting spots like Sissi and the Minoan ruins. After exploring, we’d relax by the pool or garden—no loud music, just sea breeze. Malia’s restaurants are close by, and at walking distance. Just a small wish? A couple of hooks in the bathroom and a luggage stand would be handy. But that’s just nitpicking—this place is a gem."

"This aparthotel is ideal for people seeking a quiet place to stay away from the busy resort of Malia. It is situated on a hillside with views of the distant sea. Our room provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We loved the delicious home cooked 3 course evening meals and breakfast buffet. This family run hotel is in excellent condition with a lovely swimming pool and outdoor games area. The walk into Malia town takes about 20 minutes and we learnt to avoid the strenuous walk back up the hill by taking a back road with more gentle slopes. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and well looked after."

"Several of us attending a conference nearby at the Cretaquarium stayed here for several nights. What struck me first was the view. It was pretty cool to step outside of my room, either through my front door, or from the corner of my deck, and see the Mediterranean Sea. The deck also faced inward toward the rest of the layout, so I really got a good look at all of the hotel. As others have noted, the staff here is very friendly and works hard to provide a nice experience. Rania found us a couple of rental cars. The rental company actually brought the cars to the hotel. The first night there we sat outside in the restaurant and shared several plates of food and a few drinks and have a great evening. We caught a great sunset, too. It can be a bit difficult to find at first, but the adventure is worth it. Take a walk down the street to check out the other restaurants and shops and enjoy the proximity to the ocean. I'd stay here again if I were to ever get back to Crete."

"Stayed here with 10 girls on a girls holiday and loved it. The hotel was so pretty, but the 5/5 is completely due to the women who works at the restaurant called Debbie (or Despina). She was my favourite person I met on the trip, took time to learn everybody’s names and goes above and beyond in her role. I really enjoyed getting to know her and on the last day, after noticing me always taking the complimentary sweets from the restaurant, she brought me two packets as a goodbye present as well as hugging all of my friends goodbye. She is such an asset to the hotel and really made my experience what it is. To conclude, if you go I really recommend taking your time to get to know her, other than that the hotel as a whole was lovely but the staff really made the experience. Debbie, if you are reading this, I told you I’d leave you the best review!"

"Not well managed, we arrived to find our hotel room booked and were advised they had booked us in somewhere nearby. The replacement room was an 18-30s hotel which is not what we signed up for being over this age and made for an uncomfortable first night. Staff became increasingly rude when we were not happy with is and ignored the problem for the rest of the trip. Clearly a hotel double booking rooms and trying to fob off the English tourists (comment about us just going to get drunk were made, when we were there for a relaxing break) We were not the only British tourists that this had happened too, others had been fobbed off and treated the same way. We were also advised when booking that the hotel had a free shuttle, this isn't the case and we were asked to pay. The breakfast was nice, rooms clean and a good pool but I'd go elsewhere to save yourself the trouble."

"The owners went out of their way to ensure our comfort as much as they could. They even helped us out with a scale for our luggage. Our overall experience was good, however the reason that I give it only 4 stars is that there were material/structural improvements that could have improved our stay. The key switched everything off when removed from its slot inside the room, which was annoying, so, we had to use our phone lights to lock and unlock the door, that had a massive hole at the bottom where our mosquito visitors came in at night lol. Also, be aware, if you're tall or a bit on the heavy side, you wont fit on the toilet. They can also do with changing the bedding more than 1ce as it happened once on our week-long stay. Even though the cleaner came three times, she changed the bedding only on the Friday, as i saw the stains that were on the sheets before she showed up still there afterwards. Their policy states tht they change every second day, but i think something went wrong, which i'll discount to human error. But these are mino things other than which I would have given this establishment 5 stars, as the rest of our experience was very good."

Koni Village Hotel Hotels in Malia

"A welcoming and friendly hotel. Between us (of which there was 13) we had a variety of rooms all of which were sea facing, large balcony, pleasant with sufficient hanging space and drawers. Fridge, safe (payable at reception) and hairdryer in the room. The floors were cleaned, beds made and towels changed regularly. Our shower screen was small, so water did spill over the bathroom floor making it wet but others had a large screen and no issues. Air conditioner worked fantastic and kept us super cool our whole stay. There are two pools one is lovely large pool with steps to enter which could do with some grip on them as we witnessed many people slipping on entering the pool so be warned hold on to the rail! There were plenty of beds at anytime of the day. The other pool is smaller and quieter also with beds available. There is one bar but it is never too crowded, the snacks are available here too. The restaurant is opposite serving mainly Greek foods, amazing variety of soups, salads, cooked meats/fish, pasta, potatoes, rice, chips slight variations each day for lunch/dinner. If you are looking for English fast food this is not for you! We heard a few people complaining about the food which was a shame as even our fussiest child managed to find something to eat! Breakfast plenty of eggs available fried, scrambled, hard boiled. Toast, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, meats/cheeses etc. bacon, beans mushrooms and sausage. The hotel is hilly, if you are in the higher rooms at the top of the complex but the big pool, bar and restaurant are on one level. It is a good 10min walk to the beach via the underpass"

"Absolutely stunning hotel with fantastic amenities, lovely staff and incredible views. We only had breakfast but the options were plentiful and it was all very fresh. The hotel is only a mile from Malia and half a mile to Stalida so perfect for either. The room we had was on the beach front and was absolutely beautiful, with plenty of room and great aircon, well worth an upgrade! The pool entertainment staff - Lucas, Cora, Vanessa all work so hard and create a lovely atmosphere around the pool during the day with games and music. The spa staff are lovely, I had a wonderful massage by Maria. Can't recommend this hotel enough!"

"At the start of July, me and four other friends stayed at Philoxenia hotel in Malia. As a group of 19 year olds we were looking for a hotel close to the strip which we did get with this hotel however the experience we had with the staff was unacceptable. There was an incident on our second day when we had bottles of water and some crisps at the pool area. We had missed the signs which say no outside food and drink, but this was an easy mistake. We were then screamed at by a member of staff and told “get out” and “your finished” and that we have “no respect”. The member of staff, whose name was George, then had to be held back by another member of staff because of his aggressive nature. This was unacceptable and no 19 year old girl should be spoken to like this and be made to feel unsafe. We were also banned from the swimming pool with no warning. This was also unacceptable as we paid to use the facilities. Two of my friends who are mixed race also felt mistreated during our stay. One of them was not let into breakfast until she was with one of our white friends. Overall we were not happy with the way we were treated and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The only good thing about it was its location and the pool area was nice."

"I don't understand why this hotel has so many dodgy reviews. It is a lovely hotel and the staff are so lovely and helpful. Maid service daily and it is located right in the middle of everything and on the beach. Lovely pool and not very busy so you can always get a sunbed and enjoy a dip. Yes it is a little dated but it's still lovely. Would definitely recommend and we intend coming back for sure!"

"We came to this hotel as a girl group of 7, we had a great time at the hotel, the rooms are a little smaller than the pictures but wasn’t an issue at all. The pool is lovely and relaxing with music playing and the views of the mountains and the sea is beautiful. We had a really positive experience with one of the waiters, a man who spoke to us every day and was very friendly but we didn’t get his name. We never had a bad experience with any of the staff at this hotel and felt safe whilst staying. We did breakfast and dinner in the hotel, breakfast was just a buffet which was nice and fine for breakfast. However, as a group we decided to go out for dinner majority of the nights, but did go to the hotel 1 or 2 times for dinner and it was nice and a medium variation of food. Our friend is gluten free and they were very good with accommodating to her needs when ordering food. We also ate lunch in the hotel which was lovely but not included but we thought it was reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend."

"Do not stay here unless you want your money stolen. We confronted the woman at reception only to be told that it must’ve been one of our friends who didn’t have their money stolen. They purposely don’t steal from one person so they can frame them. Just save yourself the hassle and don’t stay here."

"DO NOT STAY HERE SAVE YOUR MONEY! upon arrival we was greeted by the manager who gave us 0 information about the hotel and then demand €70 deposit and €17 tax for the week and didn’t want to explain any of this! And then gave us keys to a dirty room and when going downstairs to say she ignored me and just handed me another set of keys honestly the staff are beyond rude in that hotel! The cleaners walk in your room when they fancy and don’t bother to Knock or apologise for just walking in! The only good thing about this hotel is the pool area absolutely beautiful! The towels get changed when the cleaners can be bothered we had one set of towels for 7 days they just hang them over the balcony to dry and the bedding doesn’t get changed once in your stay! the breakfast? If you can even call it that is stale and covered in flys. Honestly save your money and go somewhere else and the hotel is hell. Be careful with your deposit if your a couple because they will say they don’t take deposits from couples but they certainly do as they took €70 from us. Should have read the reviews before coming here really because loads of others say the exact same thing."

Pyrgos Blue ★★★★
"This was the second time we have visited Pyrgos Blue and it won’t be the last. The hotel has an undeniable charm, that emanates from the warmth of the family. On a practical level, the rooms are beautifully clean, large comfortable beds, and everything you need for a relaxing stay. Im sorry I didn’t get the cleaners name but she deserves a mention as she is there from dawn to dusk and works so hard! However, the appeal of the place is not just the stunning views, blue sea wherever you look, sunshine galore… but it’s the way the family make the customers feel so at home. You receive a warm and friendly welcome every day, the same faces.. working so hard yet always greet you with a smile. Manos is the funniest person there, not only has a great sense of humour but also the ability to speak to anyone in their level, and kindly explains things to you about the local area, or food or places of interest. Toula is a wonderful lady, graceful and kind. Helpful and makes delicious food for us. Nothing is too much to ask for, Toula will get it done! Then their adult son and daughter Elena and Vangelis, who both work the bar are also very hard working and helpful, always bringing a sense of calm and peace to the place. The overall ambience is a holiday where you can do as much or as little as you like. I love that it is not a big hotel, full of loud, annoying, drunk Brits…( and I am British by the way) … But instead, it’s a comfortable, peaceful place you can read your books and be left alone. The food is great, lots of restaurants to try close by..I’d recommend Avli and Odas to try. If you are looking for somewhere to chill, where you can find peace and tranquility, look no further. We can’t wait to go back!"

"Of the three hotels I stayed in during my week in Crete, this one was the quietest, perhaps because it's not near the center and there aren't many young people. The room was nice, but I was unlucky with the location. My balcony was right above the stairs. I couldn't eat in peace because people were constantly coming and going from their rooms. It felt like I was living in an outdoor café. Overall, I felt like I lacked privacy, and because of the room's location, I could hear everyone using the stairs. I think the rooms facing the other side are quieter. The hotel grounds are beautiful! Surrounded by mountains where ibexes stroll peacefully. Internet and air conditioning are completely free, unlike other hotels in Crete. Incidentally, many hotel owners in Crete don't list paid air conditioning, safes, and internet on hotel booking websites. Here, all these services are free. The bed and pillows are simply superb, for which a special thanks to the hotel management. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking! There's even a sponge, dish soap, and a tea towel, which is rare not only in Crete but also in other parts of Greece. Thank you very much for that! Overall, it's a great hotel! I recommend it to anyone looking for peace and quiet, solitude, and a sense of nature!"

"Just returned from Maria Rousse studios as a solo last minute trip. I booked based on the price and the reviews as the majority were excellent! I must agree this place is so beautiful and clean, the gardens are immaculate, staff were always friendly and helpful . No problem getting a sunbed in the morning which makes a pleasant change. The atmosphere was so chilled and I had the best relaxing week! The old town which was 10 minutes walk away was absolutely beautiful, lots of restaurants to chose from away from the main strip. Great idea not to charge for air con as keeps the price low but there if you need it, makes perfect sense so you're not paying for something you might not need, especially out of season . Thank you George and Barbara for a really lovely time at your beautiful place!"
