The photos don't match the actual situation at all. This elderly landlord in Marseilles took me on a roundabout way to a small room in an old apartment building in another building. But the room didn't have a lock—to be exact, it couldn't be locked. There were other guests on the same floor, so she said it was no problem. She also asked for my passport as a deposit. The usual check-out time was 11 a.m., but she had something to do the next day and wanted me out by 10 p.m. I requested a different room, at least one with a lock, but she said she didn't have one. I then said I didn't want the room and would just rest in the common area and wait until daybreak before leaving. She refused and eventually dumped me out on the street. The attached photo shows her blocking the door, preventing me from entering. Either stay in the unlocked room or leave. It was a terrible experience, but thankfully, Ctrip and its clients helped me negotiate, and the landlord ultimately refused to refund the bill. However, Ctrip reimbursed me for the room and followed up with me until I found a new hotel. Thank you again! I would also like to share this terrifying experience with everyone.
