One of the best hotels I have stayed in in Japan! When we drove to the door, someone was already there to help us carry our luggage to the room! The room is also very large and very clean, and the private hot spring is really nice! The only thing you need to pay attention to is that the place is relatively remote, which will be more troublesome if you are not traveling by car~

Anonymous UserI remember seeing a review that said, ”Except for the high price, everything else is very good.” Sure enough. This hotel has only eight suites (or villas with hot springs inside). Each villa has its own name and has its own characteristics. The hotel we stayed at this time was called Gongzhang. The room is very large, decorated with antique style, spotlessly clean. The privacy is extremely high. Your own suite has a dining room with a charcoal grill (you can choose to enjoy high-end Japanese cuisine here), a bathing hot spring, and a large outdoor hot spring with a rock shape (usually only seen on travel programs) ), there are small indoor hot springs for footbaths (I heard that only three of them have this facility), and there are two other hot springs in the public area outside, but each household has a private time reservation and is unique. The hotel also specially matched Chinese-speaking waiters, and the service was very good. This stay was the highlight of the trip!

The service was excellent, and the food, both breakfast and dinner, was great. The onsen was comfortable and clean. It's a shame that the massage chair required a coin-operated subscription; normally, hotels of this caliber and price shouldn't charge extra for it.

Guest UserWe are a couple from Australia and I only speak a little Japanese. This was a truly AMAZING experience! The staff were so kind and friendly, giving us assistance was no issue for them. The location is stunning, the private onsen was glorious and the dinners and breakfasts were bigger than we could possibly eat (and we love our food). The price point for this experience was so good - fantastic value for money. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a little adventure in the heart of countryside Japan.
If you get the chance to also visit Minamiaso (they will take you there at no extra charge) for the day, grab some e-bikes and have a ride around- take in the beautiful scenery and wonderful food options.

Guest UserIt was the greatest experience I have had in onsen hotel staying. Everything was the greatest with no room to complain. Exceptional service, nice private onsen (reservation required), spacious and clean rooms, free drinks, dinner with wagyu beef, quiet and relaxing environments. I left my jacket in my room, after I left, they even email me to offer options if I want to have the jacket back. They finally arranged to courier the jacket to my hotel I stayed afterwards (courier fee COD). I appreciate this service a lot, they truly want me to have a nice trip with no regrets. I highly recommend this onsen hotel, very valuable for this low price!

Guest UserGreat experience living in a ryokan in the rural areas of Kyushu. Location was secluded which was great for time away from the bustling city, but was confusing to get to when arriving at night. Staff were very polite despite their lack of English proficiency. One area of improvement could be to provide suggestions on places to visit in the onsen village. The baths were warm and soothing, the private baths were a tad small though. Dinner and breakfast was great as well. Overall a positive ryokan experience.

It’s a good private house.
But I’m won’t recommend if weather is cold or raining, or if you’re traveling with young kids.
I travelled with my family with two toddlers.
The bath and onsen are outdoors, not quite well lit and not well covered.
The hot water water pressure is low, and the water is either very hot or very cold.
It was a cold, raining and windy that night.
It was a horrible experience for us because of the above, and the kids had a lot of trouble taking a bath. And we were worried they might catch a cold.
And strangely the door lock of the bath is locked from the outside and not from the inside.
Also remember to buy food before entering.
We bought ours and cooked our own dinner.
Otherwise, it’s a good private house, probably best for adults.

The service was absolutely incredible. The location was a bit awkward, being a 5-minute drive from Kurokawa Onsen (but a 30-minute walk). I emailed them beforehand to explain the situation and requested a pick-up, which they happily accommodated. We even missed our pre-booked highway bus from Fukuoka to Kurokawa and had to change the time on the day, but they still helped us. The highway bus was incredibly slow, making us 40 minutes late for our agreed-upon pick-up time. I almost teared up feeling both apologetic and grateful to the elderly owners, who helped us so kindly without showing any sign of inconvenience. I want to express my sincere gratitude again. Thank you so much! Thanks to them, my four friends and I had a wonderful trip in Kurokawa.
The owner's wife advised us in Japanese to book a taxi for the evening from the information center. However, as our Japanese isn't very good, we kept putting it off and ended up not booking one. As a result, after finishing our onsen and dinner, my four friends and I had to walk for over 30 minutes along a dark forest road to get back to our accommodation ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ. For others, please make sure to book a taxi for your return trip at the information center as soon as you arrive at the onsen. It's a very rural area where you can't call for a taxi, and cars are rarely seen after 8 PM. Walking back to Mori No Cottage is just not something a person should do. It was so hard. It was dark, scary, and the uphill climb was exhausting.
Aside from that, the accommodation itself was excellent. It was a wooden cottage, and I heard the owner's husband designed it himself. It was a very comfortable, clean, and pleasant place to stay. The next day, we had to return to Fukuoka, so they helped us with a pick-up to the highway bus stop at 9:30 AM. However, they dropped us off at the wrong spot, and it could have been a big problem if we hadn't moved to the correct location. We almost missed the bus again. I think there was a communication error because our Japanese isn't very good. It turns out we were supposed to get off at Fukuoka Airport, not Yufuin or Beppu. Thankfully, we managed to get to the correct stop, so there were no issues in the end. I think it's crucial for others to communicate very clearly. All in all, I was truly grateful and happy.

We had a wonderful stay at the Power Spot Campsite. The owner was super friendly and helpfull. He helped us with all of our questions and gave us some great recommandations.
We arrived on a rainy day with our bicycles and were so happy about the cozy tiny wooden house and a warm shower. We had an amazing view of the mountains and the shrine and it was even possible to make a campfire infront of the little house. It is a magical place. Also there are many cute and friendly cats. We would defenetly visit again!

The room was spacious. It was my first time staying in a dome-shaped room, and it was very comfortable.
The buffet had a lot to choose from, so I was able to eat healthy food.
There were a lot of people, so we had to wait a little, but it wasn't a problem.
The surrounding facilities were also well-equipped, so we were able to use the various relaxation spaces. I'd like to go again.
