Nestled in the core of Nuodeng Ancient Village, Dali, Yunnan, lies a high-end guesthouse that blends traditional charm with modern comfort —— Gujing Jianshan (Ancient Well & Viewing Mountains). Its five themed guest rooms, named "Ancient," "Well," "View," "Mountain," and "Viewing Mountains," each hide distinct landscapes and embody every facet of a slow-paced life. Here, you can lean against the courtyard’s光影 (dappled sunlight), soak up the sun, brew a pot of tea, listen to the wind rustling the leaves, and watch clouds drift leisurely... Or wander through the ancient alleys, savoring the tranquility and warmth of this millennium-old village.
Gujing Jianshan is more than just a stopover; it’s an invitation to slow down and embrace life as it should be. May this journey leave you with peaceful, fulfilling, and unforgettable memories.
"Choosing Nuodeng for this Yunnan trip was a truly wise decision. Although the mountainous roads were challenging, the moment we arrived at the Nuodeng Ancient Well and saw the mountain, our hearts leaped with joy. The B&B, from the overall design to the furnishings and everything else, is exquisitely appointed, demonstrating the owner's high taste and aesthetic sense. The refrigerator was stocked with complimentary drinks and snacks, even including Sam's Club cookies! The host, Ms. Huang, was incredibly attentive. When we went downstairs to eat, the melodious sound of Vivaldi's ”The Four Seasons” (a favorite of mine) filled the dining room. The combination of delicious food and music filled us with a sense of joy. The breakfast was delicious, with a rich and nutritious variety, and even the daily presentation of the dishes reflected the owner's aesthetic sense. The owner truly puts so much effort into something meaningful! In just three days and two nights, we relaxed like we were in our own home. Every day, we gazed at the verdant mountains and the ever-changing clouds, climbed the many steps to see the Jade Emperor Pavilion and the salt well, learned about Nuodeng's history, and experienced the simple customs of its people. We even happened to witness the Bai ethnic group's Torch Festival. It was truly a wonderful and unforgettable trip. The driver and mule who helped us pull our luggage up the mountain were also very lovely. The driver introduced us to the sights along the way. Nuodeng's ham is certainly well-deserved. Nuodeng has so much to offer, and we are grateful to Ms. Huang and her family for the warmth they brought to our journey."
