The owners of this place are the nicest people ever! Even though we did not ask, they gave us a ride to and from the train station as well as to Chairman Mao's former residence. The location is great, it would not have been a long walk but the ride made our visit even smoother. The hosts gave us Chairman Mao pins for free and made us delicious breakfast for a really cheap price. They truly are such nice people! They don't speak much English but I'm sure you would manage just fine with a translator app. The room was a great fit for us, two couples travelling together, and it had everything we needed. We only stayed for one night since there is not a whole lot to see in this town but we would have loved to stay for longer just because the hosts were so nice. In Xiangxiang, this hotel is very good. Very clean and very hygienic. The location is also good, opposite the children's playground and forest park. It takes a little walk to eat around, it is a new city, and it is acceptable. The surrounding is also quiet and not noisy. The overall feeling is very small. The waiter was very warm and thoughtful.

The food in the restaurant is delicious and the prices are relatively affordable, especially the restaurant on the second floor. The hotel is equipped with a swimming pool, which can satisfy those who like swimming and stay near Shaoshan. There is a gift shop downstairs for convenient shopping. The disadvantage is that the hotel does not have a washing machine, which is still a traditional hotel practice. There are also no laundry bags for dirty clothes, but rudimentary plastic bags are provided.

The couple running this renovated traditional home in Mao's home village are very attentive to guests' needs, even on the busiest day of the year, December 26th, Chairman Mao's birthday. My partner was coming down with a cold and got some ginger soup to drink. Additionally, when we screwed up our schedule and almost couldn't make our train out of Shaoshan, with no train available to reschedule, the couple arranged for the husband to drive us to the station for little more than gas money. It's up a slight hill from the other inns and allows one to get a bit of peace and quiet, again, even on the busiest day of the year, when Shaoshan is very worth a visit for anyone interested in Mao Zedong's legacy, given the number of Chinese people who show up to sing, dance, wave various flags and give speeches. Don't make our mistake and schedule the Chairman Mao memorial hall for a full visit instead of rushing though it. The exhibit is full of pictures and dioramas and has English captions for most things. I also wish we'd had time to explore the pagoda on the hill behind the guesthouse.

Stayed for one night. Was not my first choice, but had to stay here because foreigners allowed at this hotel. Many other hotels in Xiangxiang do not allow foreigners to check-in. Check-in process was smooth, and staff courteous and professional. Standard room with the standard amenities. Located right in the city center. Could not comment on other aspects because did not experience/use.
