Excellent
I can't praise Qiao Hongli and the family enough for their welcome and support. The lady of the house walked me to the West Gate entrance to the Rainbow Mountains. The hotel then organised tickets to 2 night shows and the Binggou Danxia. Perhaps the highlight was a tour of the Extraterrestrial Canyon, which Hongli took me on. He took concern for my aged knees! The many kindnesses which Hongli and his family showed to me made it a wonderful 3 day trip. Xiexie.

We stayed at the hotel in late 2025.3 Everything exceeded our expectations. When I book, it seems the location outside the city is a drawback of this hotel, which is compensated by a free pickup. But for a sightseeing trip in ZhangYe and with services the hotel has to offer, the location doesn't matter at all. Not to mention that the hotel's car+driver offer is quite competitive compared to what we have pre-booked. ###Room###: The room was spacious with comfortable beds and lots of amenities. WiFi speed is decent. There is also a public washing & drying machine, where the maid offered to wash our clothes. ###Restaurant###: The breakfast was plenty. The dinner offer a wide variety of local and standard dishes at an accpetable price. We got a free decent late night snack/dessert (with milk for children) delivered to the room at night. ###Staff###: The staff was very attentive. It started with the driver waiting at the train staion exit. Then we were greeted at the hotel by a staff with a good command of English. The staff has good knowledge of sightseeing spots in ZY. At dinner, the staffs made their best to help us understand the menu, patiently expained the food choices, as well as help estimate how much food we should order. (We are traveling with 2 children.) When we arrive back at the hotel in the evening, they enthusiasticly offered to help carry our stuffs. Tips are not expected nor accepted. If I have to comment, a moisturizing lotion and extra blankets in the room would help when the weather is cold. This hotel will definitely be my first choice if we ever come to Zhangye again.

The hotel was great, conveniently located and the room was fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to help us as we couldn’t speak Chinese at all. Zhangye is a beautiful place with so many natural wonders around to see. I highly recommend.

Holiday Inn Express has been my default hotel whenever I travel in the US Or in china. I was impressed by the Holiday Inn Express at Zhangye for their excellent customer services, delicious breakfast, and room facilities. Their room rate was also surprisely friendly. This low rate may not last once the hotel completes its renovation.
