New World Inn, Downtown Pensacola

Very outdated and musty! The staff was professional, room was clean. The hotel looks like a vintage 1960-1970 inn that has not been updated or refurbished. Peeling paint, serious musty odor even with dehumidifier in room running on high. Bathroom is tiny with cracked, chipped tile and peeling paint. Had to wash all contents of suitcase to get the odor out. The towels were clean but dinghy and stained.

Our first time staying at the New World Inn and it was a wonderful experience! My wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary by staying here and we were both impressed with the staff who were very friendly and helpful. We also liked the old world style charm, history and decor in this Inn. It is a hidden historical gem in downtown Pensacola! Compared to other chain hotels this one was quite and peaceful. We would recommend staying there and will return again. This place is pure class!!!

Do NOT stay here. This place is horrible from the reservations to the decor. We booked a room, but when we arrived there were two immediate big issues, and there other issues were to follow closely behind. This review is the most relevant. — 1) there was no one at the front desk or anywhere around when we arrived at 8:07 pm on a Friday. When we called a telephone # left at the front desk, a lady claimed she was “taking the garbage out and was heading back inside”. 15 minutes later, and we’re still waiting. !! Finally car drove up, and she got out of the passenger side while the other people waited in the car for her to deal with the new guest arrivals. Then they had the audacity to call her while she was still supposedly checking us in to see why she wasn’t back on the car yet. She was so unprofessionally dressed it was horrible. You can’t even hire anyone to man the front desk? Your staff lives 15 min away and someone drives them there and back when a guest calls from the lobby??? 2). EVEN THOUGH We had made a reservation from this hotel’s website and gotten a confirmation email and conf #, when we showed up that night, we were told that the hotel was horribly over-booked. No rooms left. We were told that several other guests had been turned away due to over-booking. There are only a handful of rooms here! How does the owner think they’ll stay in business if their own website can’t handle reservations well?? Thank god the Holiday Inn a block away had a room! It was a Friday night, and we’d driven several hours.

We stayed in the newest room on the first floor. We could hear the desk staff late pm and early am. Someone came in at 2 am yelling a woman's name. That was great. The room was dusty, as if it hadn't been used in a while and they didn't bother to give it a once over before we came. . We had made reservations well in advance, so no excuse for this. Found a contact lense on the bedside table and the floor was gritty. The room needs sheers or blinds so you can let in natural light during the day without worrying about people being able to see in, since it's on the first floor. The front desk staff during check in weren't the friendliest and on check out, he looked up from his computer screen twice. The room was $300, supposedly brand new. I wouldn't consider it even close to worth it. We stayed here two years ago upstairs and it was much better. I guess Skopolos closing and the hurrican/covid has had an effect.

This place is an amazing place to stay. The pictures provided were exactly what the hotel looked like. The rooms are very charming, love the antique furniture. Everything was clean, I love the wood floors in the room. The staff was friendly and helpful from the time we checked in until we checked out. It was an enjoyable experience! We would definitely stay here again!

The good stuff: - The bed was very comfortable. - Amazing location - close to everything. - The housekeeping staff was very friendly. The not so good stuff: - The doorhandle was falling off and when I told the young man at the desk at checkout on 07/03/2022, he said, "Yes, our hotel is old." (That doesn't mean you can't fix it). - Bathroom floors were sticky. - Hot water took forever to come on. - Drapes didn't cover the entire window. - Cookies put out (they were good) but were still there 9 hours later. Ick. - Two front desk personnel (two women, again on 07/03/2021) were complaining about guests arriving early for check in and being pretty rude about it - like they were being put out by customers showing up. I was sitting in the lobby while they were complaining - you would think they'd see me sitting in plain sight and stop complaining. - They offer 'breakfast' which was microwaved eggs that were put in a crock pot, hard boiled eggs, toast, pre-made waffles (gross) and a bunch of pre-packaged crap. We ate elsewhere. - The front desk personnel was rarely at the front desk if you needed them and had no way to reach them. So you just stood and waited. - Way, way overpriced for what you were getting.
