3-Star Hotels in Peoria

Not going to lie. After reading the reviews, I was a little leery about staying there. But, the place was awesome, ALL the staff was beyond pleasant and happy to see you. Parked in the parking garage, which is attached, was able to walk the sky walk to the Peoria Civic Center. Hotel was very clean, rooms were great. The only con really was the Bar/Bistro area. After the concert, which got done pretty early, we headed back to the hotel. Thought it would be nice to have a drink at the hotel bar and chat before heading up. All the lights were on but no one seemed to appear to wait on us. Stood there for a while, went across the street to Hoops to get a drink. They were packed to say the least so we took our drinks back across the street and finished in the hotel lobby. Someone appeared at the bar at the hotel then, only to close it out for the night. My thoughts were that they lost a lot of money by no one being there to wait on us. Just my opinion. All in all, we loved the hotel, the location, the rooms, the staff and will definitely stay there again.

Do NOT let the pictures in the description fool you---this is NOT a premier boutique hotel. In fact, it is exactly the opposite as advertised. I have stayed at a lot of hotels over the years, and we were in town for a volleyball tournament, and it was busy in the city as there was a country concert at the Civic Center, a big volleyball tournament, and also was St. Patty's day weekend. A few things to note if you choose to stay here: 1. MAJOR safety concerns. The window in our room (We stayed in one of the Century rooms with 2 double beds) did not open at all---so if there was a fire and couldn't get out of our room, we were stuck (and especially being at the end of the hall, that is a concern). We were in the lobby in the evening socializing and they ended up locking the entrance doors from the INSIDE! They were, evidently, overbooked, so as people came into the hotel to check in after 7:00 PM they were not able to even enter the hotel and instead were calling from the entrance doors, only to be told they had not more rooms available! How does that even happen? If you were already in a room, then you would scan your key card and someone would come and let you in by literally shoving open the only functioning entrance door. The other one was broken. Also, only one elevator is working and there are NO amenities beyond some terrible coffee in the lobby and a vending machine on Floor 5. 2. Security Issue #2---the check-in process was very sketchy---I was not even asked to show ID or a credit card for my room. I was just given keys and not even a room number. Had to go back and ask for that! (TBH---both of the workers at check-in reeked of *********). My in-room phone also did not work at all, so again, if I had an emergency there was no way to reach anyone beyond my cell phone. The morning of checkout there was no one at the front desk at 7:15 AM, and instead a sign that said to call an 800 number if something was needed, so I left. Another family I knew had strange people trying to get into their room at 1:00 am---and these strangers' keys WORKED for a room they were not actually staying in! Thankfully the security latch prevented them from fully getting in! So, they clearly are not verifying key cards regularly! 3. While our room was clean, as was the bathroom, there is no counter top in the bathroom---just a pedestal sink. So, getting ready is a challenge with nowhere to put things. The corner shower was VERY small---and I am 5'2, and I couldn't even bend over in the shower stall to pick something up. I would not say there are any luxurious bathroom amenties---just some shampoo and conditioner on the wall in the shower, but nothing else. No garbage can, either, so we used a shopping bag. There is a larger minifridge with a freezer on top, so that was nice. There was also a small coffee pot. 4. The hotel is very clean, comfortable and well-kept. The front desk clerk was warm and welcoming; she checked us in quickly. The room was extremely quiet and very comfortable; the bed was especially comfortable ensuring a good night’s sleep. We enjoyed the popcorn in the lobby as a late night snack. The Bistro was open late for food, as well. Tom, the morning clerk, was also friendly and efficient. Thank you.

We stayed here for 5 nights in August 2024. The hotel is well located near good highways, restaurants and a shopping center in what seemed a safe area. The physical facility is very nice with a sofa, table, and chairs: clean with good amenities like an indoor pool with a whirlpool, and a workout room' neither of which we used. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The suites have lots of space; it was clean and had everything one would expect. One highlight was a good shower with good water flow. Negatives were I could never get the safe open (requests for fixing were unsuccessful) and the magnetic key which loses its use easily. The light on the phone blinked most of the time, and no one could remedy this. The room was quiet, but the facility seemed to have few clients. They had the broadest range of foods available I've seen although many were not all that healthy. I admit I am not a fan of the free breakfasts that many hotels have. A high quality coffee and juice would resonate with me. Check in and out was efficient, and all the workers were friendly.

The hotel does not have it's own parking. You can park at a meter on the street after 5pm or a city-owned parking garage in the back with non-working elevators. Second the hotel staff at the front desk when we checked in did not know the layout of the floors. Third, there was an event which caused them to put the hotel on lockdown and the guests of the hotel were not made aware of this prior to the event. A lot of small children were in our group and were scared because lockdown now means a shooter to them. The hotel staff needs trained in customer service and communication

Staff member : Jakob (Front desk) - Jakob made my stay quick , comfortable and secure. He was very professional with a light hearted spirit that made the long day feel like tonight I came to the proper place for rest. This season can be hard on many; but for his kindness and compassion towards myself and others staying, I must say he makes a woman feel safe. That is a feeling only a few can say they experience when staying alone. Jakob always kept an observant eye on the grounds , maintained the standards of presentation of the property (collecting bottles and garbage). Yet the action that mattered the most was making sure a woman staying alone at night remained safe. He is a 5 star employee and a true asset to the business ! We had the most unpleasant experience of staying at this IHG property on our annual migration south. We originally booked at a Hilton property that was a little out of our way because it had an onsite restaurant and was ”pet friendly”. We changed our mind when we looked on the IHG website and saw that the property was on our route, had an onsite restaurant and was ”pet friendly”. Now, to be fair, neither the Hilton nor the IHG property was pet friendly as they but charge $75.00 for one pet for one night but that is a different story. After a long drive our tired and hungry little band checked in to the IHG property only to learn that the restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday. It was Monday so our primary reason for choosing this hotel evaporated. Note, the closure is not because of some disease raging through Peoria, war or insurrection. It is the hotel's policy. Note even more, the hotel website neglects to inform travelers that the restaurant is not open on Sundays and Mondays. We looked before we booked and after we discovered it was closed when arrived. The friendly people at the front desk stated that many other travelers complained about this. Apparently management did not get the message. Just ell people you have a sometimes restaurant. Next, I have been in a few hotels that have no or poor hot water. This is the first that has no cold water. Butkus, nada. And not just us. Everyone. All the water is nicely heated. Worse, the front desk apparently had no way to summon maintenance to fix the issue. We survived but it was not a comfortable or worthwhile stay. There was never an apology, no offer of rebate, etc. What we did get was a later charge of $25.00 with neither explanation nor any discernable reason. This hotel has issues and travelers should take note.
