When it comes to holidays, I’m always a bit apprehensive — especially being a Lone Ranger. But this time it was for a good friend’s wedding, so off I went. Flying through Manchester with Jet2, I was already dreading it — check-in was a nightmare, delays galore, and I didn’t arrive until 2am. All I could think was, “Great, I need sleep.” Got to my room… and straight away I’m thinking, “Where’s the plug next to the bed?” Nowhere to be seen — and I need one for my CPAP machine. Panic sets in. “How am I going to sleep?” The night manager came over, very apologetic, and assured me they’d sort something in the morning. I’m thinking, “How is he going to put a plug by my bed overnight?” Next morning, after barely any sleep, I mentioned it again. This is where the bromance between me and George began. I went around the pool, came back to my room — and they’d literally gone out and bought an extension lead, no questions asked. Thought to myself, these people are genuinely nice. It’s the little things that turn out to be the big things. Now let me tell you about the bed — it could have fit about eight people and was the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in. Cleaner came every morning — always polite, always trustworthy. They really do go the extra mile. I completed the cocktail challenge (and a few extras!) but never received a certificate… still waiting on that one 😅 Around the bar, I kept hearing about Mo Salah — not the footballer, but the Egyptian King of the hotel. Always smiling, always happy, and constantly trying to get me drunk (which I survived… just). A real asset to the team. Same goes for Nathan — made the best Baby Guinnesses on the island. I suffered the consequences one night… but that’s a story for another time! The entertainment team were absolutely fantastic. Hazel – her dance moves were next level. Always walking around chatting with guests, even while having to dance to the Piggy song five times a day! Great with the kids too. And then there’s my mate Barry — didn’t like me calling him Barry… so naturally I kept calling him Barry 😆. Didn’t speak much to the rest of the team, but they had a brilliant rapport with families and children. The food was excellent. Not a massive selection like some all-inclusives, but the quality was spot on. Tip: make sure you ask for the premium spirits — otherwise you’ll get the local stuff. Now back to George (the manager) — I swear we could be twins. Okay, he’s a few years older, a few pounds skinnier, and from a different country… but we just clicked. And he’s like that with everyone. Does he even get a day off? Does he ever leave the hotel? He’s there all day, every day, full of energy and kindness. A fantastic man and an even better human being. We even had a bit of a karaoke duet, a song and dance, and a conga line to Tequilaaaa! Honestly, I’m entering us into Britain’s Got Talent — we’re winning it. Thanks for a belting holiday and for being amazing hosts. I will truly come back and visit. (
