During a stay at this place you will surely be captivated by its unique setting atop a dormant volcano, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. The serene environment provided a tranquil escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The spacious rooms, each with large windows, allowed me to wake up to the beauty of the crater every morning. The hotel's commitment to cleanliness and comfort was evident throughout my stay LOCATION:Situated on the edge of the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve, El Crater Hotel offers unparalleled views of the volcanic crater and lush greenery. Its proximity to the equatorial line and the Mitad del Mundo monument made it convenient for me to explore these attractions. However, the hotel's remote location means that having a vehicle is beneficial for accessing nearby sites and the city center. DINE + DRINK: The on-site restaurant provided a delightful culinary experience, featuring a menu that blends local Ecuadorian flavors with international cuisine. I particularly enjoyed the freshly prepared dishes and the opportunity to dine while overlooking the crater. The quality of the food and the attentive service made each meal memorable. ROOM: We stayed in Room 408, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: Stunning views of the Crater of the Volcano; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM:Good sized bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Good quality toiletries FACILITIES: NO Gym or pool on site. They are supposed to have a spa that offers an opportunity for relaxation, and the hotel's proximity to hiking trails in the geobotanical reserve offered excellent opportunities for outdoor activities. SERVICE: Friendly staff that cared for all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout-out to PAUL at the restaurant for hosting us wonderfully! HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is good! Big Smart TV dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in multiple languages

The hotel is pretty far from Quito's center but its worthwhile coming up here for a day. The rooms are very clean, the bed is comfortable, and the furnishings are minimal but elegant. Customer service is great. But what sets the hotel apart are the rooms (not all) that have huge windows overlooking the crater on one side, and the suburbs of Quito on the other side. Waking up and opening the curtains and having the view of the gorgeous verdant crater right below you is amazing. Highly recommended for a quick city escape. Prices are fair for what it is. Would be much higher in other countries.

Everything is amazing about El Crater. We stayed in the Pululahua Suite. We had a beautiful view of the crater from the back of the room and the garden from the front. The staff is attentive and on point. No detail was missed. The food was exceptional, & the staff always made sure we had our dinner before closing the kitchen on their slow nights. The spa is beautiful. Excellent massage! The nature reserve is within walking distance, & worth it. There's also the Templo del Sol right around the corner. Highly recommend!

We stayed here when we arrived in Ecuador and found it a real oasis in a very busy city. Rooms are huge (but could have used more storage space) and you feel very isolated from the noise of the city. The middle of the world is only a few minutes in a taxi and there is a good spa and restaurant too. Walls are a bit thin and we were kept awake one night by some rude guests downstairs but they left the next day. Not cheap but other than that no complaints

This is an amazing hotel and restaurant. The service was prompt and personal. Omar made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. The views from the room and just about everywhere else on the property were phenomenal. The upper floors have views of both the volcano's crater and Quito. Waking up and seeing the view of the crater from your bed is an incredible experience. The restaurant had an extensive dinner menu and the food was delicious. I wish we could have stayed longer to try the rest of the menu. We would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant and hope to return soon.

My experience at El Crater was like none other. Where do I start??? From the unique location overlooking the crater, to the beautiful views, the spacious rooms with giant picture windows, lovely food and service at the onsite restaurant, to the most amazing spa I have ever been too (which was why I went to El Crater in the first place) - my 3 night stay here did not disappoint! It was beautiful, tranquil, and just what I needed for a lovely respite. During the day I went to Mitad Del Mundo and nearby Puluahua hiking and viewpoint. Also I spent an amazing afternoon / evening at the spa. The ambiance and decor alone will convince you that you are in for an amazing treat the second you step through the door. Tranquility and harmony are supreme. I had the best massage of my life from Santi - I couldn’t believe the healing blend of techniques, oils, and energy he used. Phenomenal experience. Don’t wait plan your vacation around this spa and hotel! Highly recommend!

We stayed at this little gem due to unforeseen circumstances as the road to our original destination was blocked and we couldn’t pass. We booked El Crater Hotel and found this to be a little paradise that is well worth an intentional visit. The setting was stunning on top of a dormant volcano with stunning views onto the crater and The Valley. The rooms were so spacious and vary by view. Food was ok, they had an extensive menu but a bit on the pricey side given the lack of hotel options in that area. But well worth a stay - make sure you go for a morning walk at sunrise - the views are stunning!

Excellent views and location. It’s not far from a main road and within walking distance of a nice overlook. We booked the anniversary package and stayed in a room on the top floor. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom is a little outdated but hot water and good pressure. They also had small space heaters if desired at night. Staff was pleasant. Dining staff was attentive. Breakfast was average.
