"Not great value for money, and the overall experience was pretty mediocre. The fact that the island was reclaimed from the sea, and the various buildings on it, are quite astonishing, but it's a real shame how many areas are neglected and falling into disuse. With over 5,000 rooms, the hotel had a high occupancy rate during the holiday, making the lobby feel like a chaotic market, packed with people and incredibly noisy. There were significant delays for check-in, and breakfast was practically a free-for-all, with extremely poor food quality. Room cleanliness was terrible; there were scratches all over the walls, and the bed runner was damaged and still had dried food crumbs from the previous guest on it – makes you wonder how long it hadn't been washed. The room itself was tiny, and when I asked for an extra pillow, I was told they didn't have any. We were a family of one adult and two children, both around six years old, but were told we had to purchase an additional child's breakfast, as two small children couldn't count as one adult. For nearly 600 RMB a night, with nothing included, it really wasn't worth it."

We even received complimentary welcome fruit. The service was excellent too; I had two kids with me, and all it took was a call to get special children's bathrobes and toothbrushes. "The view is excellent, overlooking the bay between Baimajing and Island No. 2. You can walk to the beach opposite. There are many restaurants downstairs, including a self-service hot pot for 28 yuan, a Lawson convenience store that can meet most needs, and two large supermarkets nearby. The swimming pool is the one in the residential area opposite. Its shape is similar to the one in the main picture, but it's not surrounded by sand; it's an outdoor swimming pool in the residential area. The water looked very clean, but it was a bit cold those days, so we didn't use it. There are free buses on the island, and the bus stop is a few minutes' walk away. The internet is stable. If you don't need to cook, staying for a few days is a great option."

"We went in mid June, rainy season so it was low season. For the price that we paid for the 2 bedroom villa, which included breakfast (at another hotel) entry to ocean park, The Five Country Hot Spring City, and personal shuttle bus service within the island. I think it was well worth it. Service was prompt and courteous, although communication was all through WeChat and in Chinese. Convenient but knowing sone Chinese would be better to utilize services . We stayed in the Japanese style villa, and it was tastefully decorated, spacious and comfortable. We especially loved having our own dry and steam sauna, and our own personal outdoor hot spring bath! Real hot spring mineral water! I recommend this place especially for people who love hot spring baths and want to avoid busy touristy hotels. Cleanliness: overall quite clean. Location: walking distance to ocean park and hot spring city, so quite convenient. 5-10 minutes shuttle ride to most places within the island. Service: knowing someone is available 24 hours was nice. They were eager to help with whatever we needed. The main concierge during the day was more friendly, competent and experienced. Amenities: everything we needed was provided. There was a Dyson hair dryer, fridge etc. If you are picky about your shampoo soaps etc, you may want to bring your own. But they do provide them."

"I went to Danzhou with my friends over the weekend. It was a little late, so I booked a room in this apartment on Ctrip. It was obvious the room hadn't been cleaned at all after the previous guests. But the worst thing was the cockroaches, big, scary ones. When my daughter saw them up close, she refused to go back into the apartment. We started looking for another hotel in the middle of the night, but then agreed that everything would be cleaned thoroughly the next day. In the meantime, I removed spiders and webs, cockroaches, and wiped down the surfaces so my daughter could come in. The next day, they cleaned up a bit. The sinks were cleaner. They didn't remove all the hair from the shower drain, but there was still hair on the floor and furniture. In the end, we couldn't even take a shower; it was just unpleasant. We washed by the pool. Maybe this is customary and normal in this region, but we live in a different country and are completely unaccustomed to this. Also, we don't travel with our own cutlery, so we weren't aware that we wouldn't have any, which was inconvenient. Other things: It's about a 5-minute walk to the road where you can get in your car. Good playgrounds. Nice pool. Opens at 12:00, maybe earlier. It costs 10 yuan, plus 10 yuan for a swimming cap. Circles are 5 yuan. Beautiful, well-maintained grounds. A lovely, friendly hotelier who went out of her way to help us. As you exit the complex onto the main road, cafes and shops begin on the left and continue all the way to 1st Island. It's a 10-minute drive to 1st Island. Electric cars aren't allowed there, so don't try to catch them. The water park is open. It's very good, and we especially enjoyed the fireworks and the huge wave in the pool in the evening. The movie town is beautiful, but most of it is closed."
