Peaceful and lovely rural setting. Studio is private with it's own entrance and parking under the main house. I am your host (Donna) and I live above and am happy to help with anything you need. 5mins from Rotorua airport, lake Rotoiti, Okere falls (rafting and ziplining)12mins back to town. Fully equipped kitchen. Studio is one room with one queen bed and two single beds. Very central to all things exciting and buzzing in and around Rotorua surrounds, but with the added bonus of being a little way out of the city fuss. Enjoy the sunset and a drink on your own private look out. PLEASE NOTE: We have a temporary issue with access to the jetty - There is currently no access to the lake and Jetty via the stairs from the front lawn. There is however a private boat ramp 500 meters down the road for guests and residents to use where you can access the lake, swim, launch your boat and kayaks.The holiday home offers • Sun soaked open plan kitchen/ dining and living area • Indoor - outdoor flow onto a spacious deck• Master bedroom with en-suite and lake views.• Log burner and fire wood for cool winter nights.• Plenty of parking for cars and boats. Boating access is easy with a boat launching ramp 2 minutes from the house. See note above about access to the beach and jetty - temporarily unavailable. A great base to explore the many activities Rotoiti has to offer including water sports, fishing, bathing at the Manupirua Thermal Springs (5 minutes by boat), and Okere Falls cafe. When I went there was a Chinese receptionist. I don’t know if the boss is Chinese, so the communication is very smooth. A typical motel, the room is simple but enough, it is very close to the parking lot, and the sound insulation is average. If you don’t sleep well, please think twice or prepare earplugs. The location is very good on the main street of Rotorua, not far from the government garden and Polynesian hot springs. If you drive, the parking spaces in the courtyard are limited and you may not be able to park. The parking spaces are full and you can stop on the street. It is recommended that the boss prepare a check-out key box. This can be checked out quickly without ringing the bell every time you go to the front desk

Generally speaking, although all the hotels booked during the self-driving trip around New Zealand may not be available in luxury hotels (after all, the population density is very low), basically all the hotel beds are very comfortable and clean, which is really important. During the day, we are basically outside either driving or hiking, so having a comfortable and clean bed when we rest really ensures our sleep quality. I was mentally prepared before arriving at the room every time, but in fact, every time it was a little bit beyond my expectations. Like the one I booked in Rotorua this time, the room was clean and tidy, the bedding and mattress were very comfortable, and there was an extra bed in the room. The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen has an oven, the bathroom has a washing machine, and it's very close to the busiest streets. Because the itinerary is very tight, I arrive at the hotel very late every time and leave very early, so the above conditions are considered satisfactory for self-driving travel👍👍

Pros - good location, almost everything is within walking distance. The room is large, has everything you need, except maybe a washing machine, but it (and a dryer) are on the hotel grounds, for coins. The staff is friendly and willing to help. Cons - we got a room by the road, it was a bit noisy. The hot tub was outside and covered in dust, so we didn't use it.

We stayed 3 nights in a private room at Rock Solid. The first room we got assigned was just below the lounge area and given the walls are so thin it really seemed like a group of people was in our room. The manager was very nice and moved us into a different room- walls still thin but at least in a different location vs the first room. The common areas are big and clean + you get 50% discount on the climbing wall gym which we used!

It was very clean and I often saw the staff cleaning.
The shared kitchen was clean and had all the basic necessities such as tableware! It was also nice that there was a hair dryer in the bathroom.
There was a washing machine and dryer in the building, but there was a coin laundry a few doors down.
