Great hotel within the walls. The rooms are compact but have everything you need for a short stay. Very clean. It can be a little noisy at night, given its central location. I'd avoid the 1s and 2nd floor rooms if noise is a problem, although the double glazed windows and heavy blackout curtains work a treat at moffling the sound.

It was the smallest hotel room that we have ever stayed in. The headboard of the bed was against one wall, the side of the bed was 12/18 inches away from the window and the wall at the bottom of the bed was about 12/18 inches away from the end of the bed. The only way to navigate around the room was to walk sideways like a crab. The wall at the end of the bed had a wall mounted TV, and with the bracket fixing it to the wall, it protruded about 6 inches away from the wall. In order to get to the bathroom, you have to walk sideways along the end of the bed and then bend 45% so that you don't bang your shoulder against the TV (which we both managed to do at least once). We went in June and it was hot.If you left the window open, you were kept awake until the early hours by the loud revellers leaving the bars and restaurants. If you had the windows closed, you couldn't sleep as you were uncomfortably hot. The hotel really needs some Air Conditioning. The staff were really nice, particularly the receptionist, Nicholas who was very helpful. The breakfasts are good, so it's a real shame that the room was so tiny and rather spoilt our stay.

The overall room is clean and the design is also very atmospheric. The location is close to the sea. From my window, I can see the seaside. It is far from the station. It is very inconvenient for me to bring a suitcase.

We just stayed a week at the hotel and had a great time and would go back anytime The staff where all very helpful and responsive especial thanks to the two young ladies on reception with our boarding passes The hotel is so central great atmosphere in the square in front of the hotel watching people Near a great beach and other restaurants good bar prices and helpful bar staff The room was good spacious and had a sea view very quiet we loved the history of the hotel and the grand decor yes some updating would be good but that did not detract from our experience Tea coffee making and water available in the rooms this grand lady has seen a lot of history So sorry to hear detractors these are hard times for the hospitality industry we fed back to staff we appreciated their work we need to thank people
Overlooking the sea, the Mercure St Malo Front de Mer hotel is close to the historic city and the large Sillon Beach. Book a stay in rooms with a sea view that also function as a peaceful workspace. Some rooms are specially designed for families. To unwind, why not treat yourself to a breathtaking boat trip to Guernsey?

Charming seafront hotel - rooms facing the beach have a breathtaking view- day and night- and pretty perfect to watch the stunning sunset from. Rooms were a decent size and well equipped with storage space. The art on the walls nods at your location- arty photos of fishing boats and that sort of thing. The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom absolutely fine, decent showers and water pressure. The staff we met were friendly and spoke English when our French let us down! Parking is a bit of a pain because you have to find a spot anywhere in the streets around the hotel which isn’t great. The breakfast is served in the only food/drink area- it also houses the small bar for drinks in the evening. It’s nicely decorated and the breakfast was good with lots of pastries, hot options such as eggs etc. The coffee machine is a little disappointing, would be nicer to have fresh coffee but all the Accor hotels we stayed in use the same machines! This room did tend to get rather warm and stuffy when we were there - a storm had blown through the night before but the winds were still very high so opening a window meant it blowed a gale indoors! So if there is air conditioning it didn’t seem to work. An easy walk to town and pleasant environment overall. We would stay here again with our fingers crossed for a good parking spot!
Facing the Sillon beach, book a bedroom or apartment in our Hotel on Saint-Malo beach, open 24/7. To my surprise I was upgraded to one of the new rooms (005) at the back of the hotel. Whilst no view of the sea the room was large with a sitting area, a comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom - unusually in the day and age had a bath rather than walk in shower. Staff were really welcoming, helpful and friendly. Found a parking space immediately outside of hotel. Was able to use UK Parking app (Paybyphone) which was just as well as could not make head nor tail of the parking meter! 4€ for 24 hours. 10 minutes walk along front to entrance into town. Have found my new stopover hotel when taking ferry back to Jersey!

This hotel is the standard Mercure. Clean, better than basic, fine. But don’t confuse this with the other Mercure in St Malo. This one is a fair distance from intra muros. The welcome was less than graceful. Greeted by a rather distant receptionist. We were told that the indoor parking was full and then directed fairly peremptorily to a nearby car park. It was all fine, but not what I came to expect from Mercures in my working life. She seemed to respond better later when I spoke French, asking where breakfast was to be served. It was the usual Mercure. Reliable and fine for work. If you want something special on holiday, maybe try another place,

Very elegant hotel located on the beach. Beautiful views of the beach and sea. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Most spoke English, but some of the waitstaff didn't. Has spa within the hotel property that offers a variety of services. Breakfast offered a wide range of choices. Rooms were clean and quiet. Air conditioning and wireless worked great! The biggest downside is its distance from the town center. A good 30 minute walk down the boardwalk. But a lovely hotel with fabulous views of the channel.

Outstanding
LLucinda EWe enjoyed this property, and they were very accommodating when we first saw the room that they assigned to us. It was not what we expected, so they moved us to another side of the property where there were beautiful views, and a nice size tub. Etienne Was exceptionally helpful as was Raphael at the front desk. What we enjoyed as well was the restaurant. Sadly, I cannot remember the two gentlemen that waited on us for dinner, one night and dessert the following night. There was also a young man, tall and slender, who made the most delicious drink! I highly recommend this property in the restaurant if you were interested in staying in Saint Malo.
GGuest UserSmall, charming, authentic but with confort. It is a villa converted into hotel. Our room was on the villa building, it was spacious for French norms. Bathroom clean and also quite spacious for the norm. Only minus the noise, you could hear what was going on downstairs and on the stairs. The small terrace/garden area was great to enjoy the sun avoiding the wind (which can blow quite hard in Saint Malo). Although a bit far from Saint Malo, you still have the beach just there and there are also restaurants around. They rent bikes (bit pricey), which we used to make excursions to nearby villages and to Saint Malo. By foot, Saint Malo center is like 25min. It has some parking spots, but you need to book in advance as there are not so many. In low season would not be an issue to find parking on the street. Breakfast was good with not crazy choice but lots of homemade things and fresh juice. Staff was also very friendly.
VVenture15469365337Comfortable bed, convenient underground parking (although it does flood and you may need to move the car to the street like we had to) and very convenient to the old city. There are lots of lovely restaurants within walking distance and the view is amazing if you get one with an ocean view. Overall an excellent option if staying in St. Malo.
MMobile48542484459Superb sea view room booked at a good rate through Brittany Ferries in a ferry and hotel package. Amazing listening to the sound of the waves as I went to sleep. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a wonderful bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and separate rain shower. The room was so luxurious and the view so good we didn’t want to leave and didn’t manage to try out the pool and spa area downstairs. The hotel is situated right next to the old town with a good choice of restaurants in close proximity. We had continental breakfast in the room and it was ok
Arrived at about noon and was told the room was not ready, although they did not actually check. Went to see the restaurant and the fish smell is overwhelming. Came back at 3 and went up to the room. There is barely enough room to walk around the bed. They give you a luggage stand but there is no more to put it and still walk around the bed. This is a terribly overpriced hotel whose only redeeming note is that it is on the beach. I don't understand why Best Western puts its name on this hotel. It is a disservice to the brand.
We arrived late at night and found the hotel easily accessible on foot from the ferry. About a 10 minute walk. Check-in was simple and we were soon in our 3rd floor (top floor) room. No kettle or water in the bedroom however in reception, you could make your own drinks to take up to your room. Water was also available. Small bar area in reception. Decent, powerful shower with shower gel provided. Room was laid out well, with a view of the walled city across the docks in the distance. No aircon in bedroom so needed to have window open so road noise did impact at times. Did notice a small fan in the room but we didn’t need it. Breakfast was plentiful & usual continental fayre which we enjoyed. Although on this occasion we were on foot, we did have a look around the garage/underground parking area for research purposes for a future visit. Only comment we would make, is that the entrance/exit did not have much signage to stop parking directly infront of the doorway so would suggest that the hotel (if possible) put a ‘no parking’ grid on the ground to deter people from blocking the doorway. Ideal hotel for a visit to St Malo or overnight stop to/from the ferry.
This is a typical French seaside ”pension”, with small rooms, a bar/bistro/crêperie and fantastic views over the beach and sea. The décor needs brightening up, but it is clean throughout, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is quite modern and the shower was excellent. We took a room on the sea side with a small balcony, which was absolutely worth paying for....in fact it is a must. We appreciated drinking traditional Breton cider in the bar on the ground floor, and at the great rooftop bar. This was an unexpected bonus. We also really enjoyed the buffet style breakfast - traditional French with good bread, croissants, etc, as well as cold meats and eggs cooked quickly to order. Of course fresh crêpes were also available. For us, the hotel completely conformed to our expectations for this type of short stay. We visited in Nov, but it was a holiday weekend, and St Malo was very busy. We did not take the option of the private hotel parking, and it was difficult to find a space close by.
Great small hotel situated a stones throw from the ferry terminal. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Good shower. Everything we wanted. Great as a stopover. I wouldn’t go there for a holiday as it’s not really suited for that. Secure parking behind a barrier A warm welcome on arrival.
The mattress is terrible. Kind of like sleeping on the floor, but with springs and a bar in the middle. The bathroom had a tub, but different colors of mold growing in the caulk and joints. Decent sized room for France, but layout could be better ( and without the bunk bed). But really the mattress is terrible ( this is after asking if another room had a nicer bed and being told that pillow tops were only in 3 star hotels). Spend an extra $10 to get a nicer place and not toss and turn awake for hours.
