Hotels Near Alcatraz Island in San Francisco

The hotel is located in North Beach, close to Pier 45. The public security is OK. There may be motorcyclists in the street during the day, but it is quite quiet at night. Pier 39, Lombard Street and Ghirardelli Square are all within walking distance. Behind the hotel is the only in-n-out in SF, and the popular online store boudin is also nearby. There are Walgreens, Uncle ** and Starbucks, but they all need to walk two or three blocks away. Generally speaking, it is within a reasonable range. It is far from the subway station and needs to transfer. There are several buses. The cable car terminal is next to the hotel, and the parking fee nearby is relatively expensive. The room is large and the facilities are not new. American hotels usually require you to bring your own daily necessities such as slippers and toothbrushes, and the elevator is slow. The front desk is very enthusiastic. When checking in, Q fat from several nearby restaurants is given as a gift, which can be discounted by 10%, which can be regarded as offsetting the consumption tax. In general, the price-performance ratio is quite high, suitable for people with good leg strength.

I booked a suite to stay with my parents and the room is so spacious that staying 3 people with at least 9 luggages still feeling very comfortable. The room can be sectioned into 2 bedrooms so that was very nice and create more privacy. Plus, the parking is free for the guess with close gate, it was very safe to stay. I compared the price and space around the close by hotels and this is the winner. Totally recommended.

Great location. Lobby looks trendy and clean. Rooms are ok but I got the ones on level 1 and at the high traffic corner so it was rather noisy with people walking to and fro to the lobby.

Very nice hotel, with lots of extra amenities, and right next to the tram stop! Beautiful stay, thoroughly enjoyed the balcony and bay view.

Be sure to view the Hotel Caza website for the extensive list of additional fees associated with the booking (destination fee, parking, etc). The prices are very transparent on the site and aren’t as clear booking through third party. This hotel has incredible customer service! The front desk ambassadors are warm and welcoming from check-in to check-out. Vanessa and her colleague truly provide world class customer service. She provided 10-15% off coupons for restaurants on the pier. We had a fantastic time for my mother’s birthday in San Francisco and it would not have been the same with another hotel. The location of Hotel Caza is near Fishermans Wharf. It is walkable to many attractions such as the Coit Tower, Ghirardelli’s, the piers, etc. There are an abundance of great restaurants nearby. We had a delicious brunch next door at “Eight am” cafe. Other attractions are a bit further out and require transportation such as Golden Gate Park, Sausalito, and redwood forests. This is a very family oriented hotel. There are many games in the lobby for children and adults. Bicycles to peruse the city are provided on a first come first serve basis each morning. The swimming pool is on the smaller side and always has kids in it. The evening cookies are packaged and not freshly baked. The lobby has an overpowering smell of perfume. Overall, we had an amazing time at this hotel and highly recommend it for family vacations!

Excellent value for a great location. Room was clean and very spacious. Front desk were accommodating and helpful with a quick check-in and check-out. Breakfast had a good selection of different options and had no complaints. Overall would happily rebook and stay here again!

Very close to the pier, very convenient to go anywhere. The room is relatively small, and the bathroom space is small. There is free breakfast! And it is delicious! The fruit is very fresh! The toast is delicious!

Hotel location is very good, near the Fisherman's Wharf, the dining environment and taste of the nearby restaurant are good. The two-bedroom room has a washing machine and a kitchen, which is very suitable for family outings and short-term long-term stays.

We got charged a few extras on arrival called destination fee which wasn't clear when booking. It didn't give us any extra benefits for the money not worth it but had to pay it.

All of the staff seemed really nice. From the moment we arrived and had a friendly greeting from the valet parking worker, to the ladies that we interacted with in reception. The room was nothing special, but by that I mean it had no outstanding features, or any distinguishable traits that would separate it from other hotels The concierge was friendly and helpful, and was very useful in helping us to plan our activities. And the hotel is in a good location to get to the pier or do the 'big bus' tour. But here's the downside. The gym is small, had no steriliser, or wipes, even though one of the rules stated in the gym is to wipe down the equipment after use. And the overall impression of the gym is that it could do with a really good clean from top to bottom. Added to that there's the washing machine and tumble dryer located in the gym. Yes that's right, in the actual gym. Now we were very happy when we read about the hotel having washing machine facilities, but we were slightly surprised at it's location. Another thing was the air con. We stayed in September and although the weather for the season was just starting to cool down after the summer, it was still fairly warm. The air con looked as if it had been fitted in the seventies and made a sound as if it had been running non stop ever since then. It was so noisy that we had to turn it off completely at night time and at different times during the day. On a final point we received news regarding the death of my partner's daughter, which meant that we had to cut our whole vacation short including this leg of the trip. We informed the front desk that we would be checking out one day early. We were not expecting a refund, for that day, but after being told by the member of staff that the 30 dollar a night 'destination fee' would be waived for the night that we were not going to be there, we later found out that this fee had still been added to the final bill. We still have no idea what a 'destination fee' is, but to be charged it when we weren't even at the hotel was extra galling. And what was also strange was the fact they didn't even ask why it was that we had decided to cut our stay short? Would you not be interested to know whether something was wrong with your customers stay, and to know why they had cut their visit short?? A bit of a poor end to a otherwise 'ok' stay at the hotel.
