"This was the first hotel we stayed at after arriving in Xishuangbanna. The environment was very quiet and the greenery was beautiful. It's a pity we arrived late at night and had to leave the next morning; my family said we should have come earlier to visit the local markets, see the Buddhist temples, and go rafting. There were some small flying insects in the wooden villas, but in a tropical rainforest area near a river, I think it's quite normal and acceptable. If you can't accept this, I suggest not coming to Mengla; this place is all about returning to nature. So I don't quite understand people who give negative reviews about small flying insects; these insects fly in the air, they're not crawling on the bed. The hotel breakfast included local specialty rice noodles, which were delicious."

"This hotel boasts expansive grounds with lush greenery, and the staff are incredibly welcoming. As soon as we arrived, they eagerly helped with our luggage. The buggy service for getting around the hotel or to our room was always promptly available when called. The hotel breakfast was also varied and delicious. It's very family-friendly, with a free-to-guests teen club offering game consoles, table tennis, foosball, and chess, which is a great perk. The room facilities were standard, but the balcony was exceptionally large and even had a drying rack for clothes. However, due to the rainy season, clothes wouldn't dry easily. Also, be careful on the balcony during the rainy season as it can be slippery with moss. The only downside was that the TV in our room had some issues; the remote wasn't very responsive, and it would turn on and off by itself in the middle of the night, which was a bit spooky. The hotel is right next to the Chinese Academy of Sciences Forest Park, just a four to five-minute drive away. The park is vast and lovely to explore, and it's a great educational outing for kids."

"The location is absolutely fantastic, making it the top choice for both night tours and daytime visits to the Chinese Academy of Sciences. However, the facilities are undeniably outdated; it's an old-fashioned hotel, and the breakfast is just average. Even for an old hotel, it barely scrapes by as a 3-star. The lack of charging stations is a major inconvenience, as you have to drive more than ten minutes from the east gate to the west gate to charge. But, if you're planning night tours and daytime sightseeing, I genuinely recommend it because you can directly access everything from the hotel lobby, which means more sleep! Despite the hotel being old, the service is prompt and the staff are quite nice."

It is recommended that those who come to Ban Na and want to go to Laos can choose to stay here. "This was probably the biggest surprise of our Yunnan trip – we stumbled upon this village by accident. For city dwellers like us, it felt like a paradise. From an extremely impoverished village to one where everyone has an income, the villagers said it was Professor Li Xiaoyun's team (I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling) who helped the village generate tourism revenue. We booked a three-bedroom room for 1730 yuan a night. It was the second day of the ***** New Year, so that's understandable, but seeing in the reviews that it was a poverty alleviation project, we immediately placed the order. Since we were going to book a guesthouse anyway, it wouldn't hurt to do something good. Driving from the Wangtianshu Scenic Area, there's only one road into the village, and the winding roads scared me half to death! Definitely check in during the day! The one-way street makes passing difficult, especially since we were in a campervan. When we arrived, we were truly shocked. It was a village with only one small shop. To be honest, that might not be accurate; there were no restaurants, no milk tea shops, no convenience stores, no coffee shops – absolutely no commercial establishments. Honestly, I was a little shocked because I didn't expect such a pristine, authentic village. Each guest room was in a different family's home. The village has over 60 households and more than 200 people. You can pay the family you're staying at to have their meals prepared, using vegetables they grow themselves and pigs and chickens they raise themselves. I haven't written this review yet because I really wanted to sit down and write a proper review. If my initial impression of the village was surprise, astonishment, and a little regret, then afterwards it was pure joy, delight, and regret for arriving too late. In the evening, I watched the village girls dancing on the basketball court. The owner of the house I stayed at, Brother Deng, was born in 1984. My husband and father ate and drank with him, and he even took my father and husband to visit other villagers. Everyone in the village was simple, honest, and warm-hearted. Although I couldn't understand their dialect, I could feel everyone's kindness and welcome. Even though the rooms weren't very soundproof—after all, it's a wooden village, part of the Yao culture—it was very clean. You could tell they were putting effort into making this a good tourist destination. I hope Hebian Village continues to thrive. See you next time! If you're willing to put down your phone and experience nature, to escape the city and enjoy a day of simplicity, believe me, it's worth the trip, unforgettable, and truly a return to nature. This special trip perfectly embodies that feeling."

"The most surprising experience of this trip to Mengla was the Levande Hotel! It's right near the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and only a 20-minute drive to the Wangtianshu Scenic Area (the front desk lady was so kind to let me know there's a weekend market going on there—you can ride a shared electric bus to experience the unique local night market life). You can even see Dai villages along the way. The location is perfect! Another comfort and convenience feature is the hotel's free pick-up service (because it was already past 7 p.m. and I hadn't realized how hard it was to get a taxi. After waiting for half an hour with no one to respond, I realized the hotel offered a pick-up service and quickly contacted the hotel through the booking process. The driver was incredibly friendly!) The hotel room was even bigger than I expected! Over 30 square meters was plenty comfortable! The tropical decor, large windows, and cleanliness were topped off! The disposable bath towels were especially impressive: individually sealed, thick, and lint-free. Upon opening, we found a thick, non-woven fabric that's highly absorbent and lint-free (a reassuring thought for those of us who are particular about hygiene and attention to detail)."

"The hotel is right next to the Wangtianshu Scenic Area, with convenient parking, and it's a one-minute walk to the entrance. It was exceptionally quiet at night. The river-facing rooms had particularly beautiful views. The rooms were fully equipped and very clean. There was no furniture odor. The receptionist was efficient and very friendly. They even arranged a Dai ethnic dance performance for the children in the evening. The breakfast was also excellent. Since we checked out after visiting the attractions, we asked the hotel to let us check out a little later, and the owner agreed. In short, it was the best hotel we stayed at during our ten-plus days in Yunnan. Next time we visit Yunnan, we must stay here. There's no other choice. The only downside: if they could turn off the outside lights for a while at night, the children could also see the stars."
