Canary Hotel Shenzhen (Bao'an Yifangcheng)

good, nearby supermarket and a lot of restuarant. hotel is clean

The room is clean and hygienic, and I am quite satisfied with the stay. Someone helped to upgrade the room type. There is a floor-to-ceiling window. The sunshine is still good, and the view is good. The location of the hotel is also good. As for the room, the sound insulation is mediocre. It is close to the road, but there is no problem to check in. The service is okay. The bedside USB may not be easy to use. It is best to take a charger when you go out.

This small hotel is unique and wonderful. Major plus points are the in house movie/entertainment system and the beautiful little balcony garden. The service was friendly and efficent with particualy credit to the room cleaning lady who was super helpful. Rooms are new and clean although not huge with limited space to put away clothing but for a short stay no problem. Note no room safe but didnt ask if anything else was available to store valuables. Decent location with a Western bar and a coffee shop on either side plus a huge new shopping/restaurant complex a 5 minute walk away. Only slight downside was my thinking it would be quicker than 30 minutes to the airport. Would definitely book again.

I honestly find it extremely difficult to write this review, as I was told that if I did not give 5 star rating the front desk personnel will get penalised.   Anyway, in general the stay and the room is alright.  I couldn't give a 5 star rating for cleanliness is because I found a cockroach up entering the room.  The rooms are pretty clean though.  I guess because the hotel is on the 2nd level and above some restaurants.   Another reviewer mentioned the lack of clothes hanging areas, it is true. I booked a non-smoking room and there was an ashtray in the room, and a slight cigarette scent when I enter the room.  More importantly, in the morning as we were leaving the room, obviously someone was smoking some where near the corridor and the cigarette smell was very strong.  I thought that maybe the hotel may have some smoking rooms, but I just double checked and their room available on Trip.com are all non-smoking.  Another 2 things, just fyi.  The room I booked was supposed to have a small window, but the window is really facing a wall.  And the toilet and shower area is separated but it is a see through glass between the 2 areas. The location of the hotel is in between Bao An Center and Chang Sheng station, I make the comment because while Chang Sheng station seems a bit further, if you come out of exit A via the elevator.  The path to the hotel is slightly more flat and cleaner. Lastly, the service. I cannot say that the service is really bad nor good. I had different experiences with different front desk personnel.  The day I arrived and found the cockroach, we showed it to the front desk lady, and she very non-chalantly threw the cockroach away without much comment.  Whereas when I checked out and met Xiao Wen, she was very friendly and helpfulI decided to take my time to write this long review, not to condemn the hotel, as on the whole the stay was pleasant.

The hotel had a strong cigarette smell but they were able to help us change rooms
