It is a very nice hotel, spacious room and friendly staff. They listened to my request. I had requested for a room near the elevator because I have walking difficulties, and they managed to give me a room right opposite the elevator. Besides , the environment of the restaurant where we had breakfast was good, also quite a lot of food and choice of drinks. Many thanks.

I booked a luxury spa day for 3 people. This cost £225. I booked this for my Mother’s 50th birthday. Upon arrival today I was disappointed to find that the “spa” were just facilities that were part of the hotel which any guests could access. This meant there were children tearing around, diving into the pool, unsupervised. This doesn’t fit the brief of “luxury” and it was not relaxing. The children were under 16 and were not supervised at all times. This meant that the pool was not able to be swam in because they were leaping around and playing. They also chewed off chunks of floats (that were provided) that then were just floating around in the pool. When it was time for lunch in your Lakeside View restaurant, we were informed that there was a wedding so we couldn’t eat in there. That would’ve been fine if there was a suitable alternative. There wasn’t. We were sat in what felt like the reception/bar of the hotel. Where wedding guests were milling around, so again, not luxury. The food was not what I had been told it was going to be. I was informed, when I called, it was a tapas style menu. The choices were dire and led to all three of us having a sandwich for lunch. Not really £225 worth for the food we received. Our starters came out after our main meals so we ended up with a table full of plates so there was no room on the table for any movement etc. During our afternoon, a large group of people (members of the public) came in and were behaving in such a way they ended up being told to leave the establishment. There were a few children and teenagers making lots of noise and setting off panic alarms in the changing rooms. They also left the changing rooms in a disgusting state, with towels strewn all over the floor. Overall, I am extremely disappointed with the “luxury” spa day that I booked and paid £225 for. I was looking forward to a relaxing day with my Mother and Grandmother. We received the opposite. I feel it has very much ruined my Mother’s birthday. How can the advertise a “luxury spa day” for us to receive that kind of service! Appalled

We were issued keys that failed to open the door forcing us to make our way back to the front office. Our room, by the way was last on a long corridor on the upper floor of an extended wing if you can picture that. We booked (and paid for) a room for three but upon entering, the extra bed was not made up. Tried to call every number on the house phone but none was answered which meant another long walk to the front office, again. When we found the drain in the shower clogged I was hesitant to complaint to avoid further disappointment but I did anyhow and true enough - nothing was done. I must admit the hotel had one of the widest selection of tea and coffee (and chocolate drink mix) I've seen in a hotel room. I appreciated the coffee but unfortunately, restocking was only done once throughout our 4 night stay. I wonder if this was to be expected. Double Tree is a respectable brand (at least in my part of the world) but I don't understand what could have gone so wrong with this one.

There wasn't much need for service with a one night stay but, it looked as though if needed, it was there. Location was OK if the canal side bars were accessible through the rear of the lobby but it was locked so had to turn a 2min walk into a 10min walk but not the end of the world. There were hairs in the bath and some rubbish in the corner of the room but other than that, all was fine. Loved they had an iron and ironing board but the cover was a little grotty. Overall, I'd stay again.

GGuest UserWe stayed at this hotel overnight during our trip to Peak District and Yorkshire. We booked this hotel due to my Accor All membership and we had minimal expectations considering this is an Ibis Budget hotel. The hotel is at the edge of the city but very central, only a few minutes walk to the main city centre. It seemed quite new/recently furbished and the rooms were simple but had all the necessities. The lobby is really nicely decorated and the staff are really welcoming and enthusiastic. Here are a few more details on my visit: Welcome: The reception staff was very efficient. It literally took 2 minutes to get our room keys. We were welcomed with a recognition of my Accor All status and offered free welcome drinks. The room was ready and waiting for us. Room: The room is simple but allowed us to stay comfortably as 3 people. The room was clean and there were tea/coffee making facilities, hangers and towels. I only felt the need to have a small table or something to put our stuff on since there was only a small amount of space that you can use as table top but it is a really minor improvement overall. Dining: Our stay included breakfast. The breakfast was nice and included many different options. However, there were hot ”English breakfast” style food. It really didn't matter since there are still boiled eggs and lots of options. I really enjoyed our breakfast. Location: While the hotel is really central, there are parking available around the hotel. We used the on street parking on the back street with a bit of worry for the safety of the car over night but it was ok. The hotel also has its own car park but it is 8£ overnight. Staff: Really friendly. They accommodated our needs at the best level service. I couldn't ask for a better staff. Overall, great hotel to stay when you are in Sheffield. Since the hotel is a budget hotel, you should have low expectations while arriving. But I'm sure it will go above and beyond your expectations when you are there.

GGuest UserSo after reading other reviews I was a little unsure what to expect after booking this hotel to be honest, however we were pleasantly surprised. We had a double room on the 7th floor which was very roomy, extremely comfortable king size bed, clean and tidy with everything needed (towels, kettle, iron, hairdryer) ample size bathroom which needed a little TLC but again was clean and tidy. Admittedly the let down was the breakfast that was included in the booking, this needs some attention as the food quality isn’t great and defo needs to be warmer with some more choice but all in all, did the job. Last time we stayed in Sheffield we at another hotel that had rooms like rabbit hutches and no windows and this hotel was better and will stay here again for a weekend when we are next in Sheffield
