This is a total hidden gem in Mount Fuji area! The host was very very kind - She showed us how to use all the facilities including the onsen and sauna when we checked in with great details. She also kept in touch with in via email, assisting us in every way she could. She even welcomed us with drinks and snacks! As for the villa, it was very clean, spacious and cozy. It's also very well equipped with kitchenware and all the necessary amenities! They also have a family-owned restaurant which is just steps away from the villa. We enjoyed a shabu shabu dinner during our stay and absolutely enjoyed ourselves! Thank you so much Kim for making our family vacation so enjoyable and memorable!

Environment: The hotel should be converted from a private villa. The location is relatively remote in Kawaguchiko, and you need to take a taxi back and forth, but the environment is quiet.
Facilities: Since it is an old villa, the hardware facilities are relatively old, but it was considered top-notch in the 1980s and 1990s. The sound insulation is relatively poor, but fortunately the room is large enough and the room I booked is equipped with two indoor and outdoor hot spring pools. The outdoor private hot spring pool is available 24 hours a day, and it is worthy of natural hot spring water, which is very refreshing.
Here, it may be emphasized to Chinese tourists who cannot rent a car that the pick-up and drop-off time of this hotel is fixed, so free tourists are unlikely to enjoy round-trip pick-up and drop-off, so there will be taxi costs. It costs at least 200 yuan to take a taxi to and from Kawaguchiko.
Overall, for tourists who want to soak in hot springs, this hotel is very good in terms of price-performance ratio.

Guest UserThe location is pretty convenient, about a 10-minute walk from the bus station. It's located on the south side of Lake Kawaguchiko, which I guess is why it's called 'Hotel on the South Side of the Lake'?
They offer a shuttle service to the station, but I'm not sure if they have a pickup service as well.
They have private open-air baths with constantly flowing water, which can be a bit noisy at night. There are also public baths. I'd recommend not specifically booking a private bath that claims to have Mt. Fuji views, as seeing the mountain is more about luck than location – you can still see it from the public baths.
The dining is excellent and varied. Dinner included sushi, hot pot, and rice, offering plenty of choices. Breakfast was also good, with a wide selection. As for local specialties, that really depends on your personal taste.
Service was very friendly. I didn't encounter any staff who spoke Chinese, but they made every effort to communicate effectively and provide excellent service.

This is a very old Japanese-style hotel with outdated facilities. Check-in was at 3 PM, and we arrived at noon to drop off our luggage, but there was no one at the front desk, which startled us. We were only able to drop off our luggage after seeing the hotel manager. The hotel is located by Lake Yamanaka, and although it's close to Asahigaoka Station, it's inconvenient to walk along a small path from the station with luggage. Also, you can't see Mount Fuji. The hotel offers self-service bicycles for rent. The onsen (hot spring) was too hot to soak in. The only good thing was the dinner, which was Wagyu beef and very delicious. When we left, the owner even drove us to Asahigaoka Station. It's more suitable for those with a car. If you're looking for a new hotel, don't consider this old-fashioned one. However, if you want to experience traditional Japanese style, you can give it a try.

brayden_foongIt was definitely an enjoyable and worthy experience of traditional ryokan with tatami and futon with the best view of Mt. Fuji from the room window! The hotel itself overlooks parts of Mt. Fuji with Lake Kawaguchiko, and we even added on dinner and breakfast during the stay! They are simply one of the best meals during the trips in Tokyo! The onsen is another bonus to enjoy while seeing the view of Mt Fuji, even though it is public hot spring which might be a culture shock. Definitely worth to try it out again to enjoy the traditional Japan vibes around Lake Kawaguchiko.
