"We spent seven nights at the Palazzo President Hotel in Split to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and overall we had a wonderful time. The standout feature of this hotel is undoubtedly the staff. Everyone genuinely seemed to want us to have the best possible stay and a special mention must go to Dominika and Roko, who both went above and beyond throughout our visit. Dominika kindly arranged complimentary tickets to the National Theatre in Split, which was a lovely surprise and something we would never have done ourselves. Although we didn't understand a word, it was a memorable experience! We were also treated to chocolate-dipped strawberries, which was a thoughtful touch for our anniversary. The location is excellent. Situated just on the edge of the Old Town, the hotel is peaceful and quiet while still being only a few minutes' walk from all the restaurants, bars and attractions that Split has to offer. Our room was modern, clean and very quiet at night, with an excellent shower and comfortable bed. There is also a pleasant bar area and a new terrace and gym opened shortly before we left. Before travelling, we knew there wasn't a swimming pool available, but we didn't realise that construction work was taking place to build a new pool and roof terrace. Unfortunately, being on the third floor meant we were occasionally woken early by loud banging. We raised this with the hotel and although we were told it was air-conditioning work, it was clear that building work was taking place. Despite this, Roko and Dominika arranged transport for us to use the pool and spa facilities at the sister hotel, which provided a welcome escape from the busy city centre and was greatly appreciated. For anyone visiting Split who wants a day off from the city, we would recommend Žnjan City Beach. The area has recently been redeveloped and offers plenty of sunbeds, restaurants and even a supermarket. It's only a short Uber ride or an energetic walk from the hotel, The staff and location are unquestionably five-star. However, the ongoing construction work was not what we expected from a five-star hotel and did impact our stay. For that reason, our overall rating is four stars rather than five. Despite this issue, we thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary trip and would like to thank the wonderful staff for helping to make it so special."

"Absolutely loved our stay. We cannot say enough good about this hotel. It was a fantastic experience. If you are worried about it not being in the middle of all of Old Town Split, that is part of the charm and why this hotel is the place to be. A quick an inexpensive Uber ride under 10 minutes and you are back in the middle of everything. It was refreshing to wake up without that hustle and bustle. The staff is phenomenal. The breakfast is an experience in itself. The beds were great. The staff, again, flawless. We can't wait to return."

"There are 4 floors per staircase. You have to do self check in. If you come by car you have nowhere to leave it and parking is expensive. It is definitely not a 4 star. The building is protected by UNESCO but is old and poorly maintained"
