Actually it was probably 2019 but the choice of dates does not go back so far. Having worked as a teacher on Zanzibar in the 1980s I decided to revisit the Island and stay in all the places I couldn't afford in those days. I spent a few nights with a couple of friends in the B&B apartments at the back of the hotel. These are airy and spacious, clean, immaculate and very comfortable. Then moved into the main hotel building for five nights when my partner arrived. The hotel, being an old, traditional house, is very quirky and full of atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era. Wide, worn wooden staircases, balconies overlooking the sea, traditional mosquito netting over the beds, and outside dining overlooking the calm and peaceful sea, with its dhows sailing majestically along the coast. This place is heaven!!! So ..... come and stay, enjoy the charm of the Tembo House Hotel here in Zanzibar town and right on the beach. It's paradise in heaven!

Annex to the hotel this is a clean b&b near the ocean front hotel with wonderful views, a roof terrace and a lush back garden. All amenities at disposal. Spacious common room and kitchen Lovely balconies. Good housekeeping staff. Reliable wifi

Beautiful hotel and stay! The rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious and they have also a balcony. The upper pool has an incredible view to the sunset. Breakfast was very good, and the restaurant was also very nice and the service excellent! Overall we had a very nice stay!

My wife and I stayed at Tembo B&B Apartments in the beginning of May 2022. The place belongs to the Tembo hotel group, and we had our breakfast at the main hotel, Tembo House Hotel, where we enjoyed great sea views. In addition to standard hotel facilities, we also had access to a small kitchen which had a washing machine etc. Hotel staff is really nice and helpful.

Location was great and the facilities too. There was a washing machine at the common area. Staff was really friendly and attentive. The cocktails are delicious but there is no beer at the bar. The restaurant is beachfront with a wonderful atmosphere.

When I booked this hotel I was provided not the room I was provided not the room I booked, but another one. It happened dirty and not maintained, the bedside lamp did not work and there was not hot water even though they showed me how to turn on the boiler, it was non-functional. Overall impression about this hotel is phishy, strong feeling that everybody from the stuff is trying to screw you on money. Everybody demands tips, on lobby, in dining hall, the bag boys. Also I noticed that the taxis they offer to the guests on reception are twice pricier than if you catch it yourself on the street. Last, but not least, they have extortionate rate if to pay in dollars. Not recommended!

Our plan was to go to Zanzibar, use Tembo House on the first day, stay for 5 days on safari, and then use Tembo House again. When going on safari, you can leave your luggage for free, so I went light! Please note that light aircraft cannot carry large luggage. There was more touring in Zanzibar than I expected. When we first arrived, it was a hectic and difficult place for us who were not good at English. But the staff here are really friendly and try to help in any way they can. I was sincere at work. They helped me with everything, including currency exchange and SIM cards, and took me there, and didn't ask for a tip (but I always gave it because I really wanted to give it). The accommodation was clean and the wifi worked well. The water pressure was good for the price, and a hair dryer was provided.. Above all, the breakfast was really delicious. I ate it haha The food in Africa was not as pleasant to my taste as I thought, so I was grateful for a breakfast like this. This is a cost-effective accommodation that I can see why it has so many reviews!
