A really lovely lodge in a beautiful part of Norway. The lodge has more than ample communal space, but quite small rooms (tip: we got a room with single beds to give us a bit more room). Everyone else staying the same time as us seemed to be quite similar people so everyone got on well, though if you’re not someone who likes to be social the majority of the time I think you might struggle a bit (unless you stay in your room). The food is great, a constantly changing menu of mainly local fish or meat (reindeer), & a veggie alternative if you don’t like what’s on offer & flag it in advance. Breakfast has a really wide range of different choices that puts many hotels to shame. Sauna & hot tub were very nice too. The activities included are very good, much better than I expected - particularly the husky sleds. We also did the whale tour & were lucky enough to see a pod of Orca feeding on herring for a long time. We were there for Northern Lights - which is obviously out of their control - but were lucky enough to see them every night we were there Faults? As a bloke who is 6ft 2 the shower was just miniscule & water flooded the bathroom floor as I pushed the doors open moving my arms, though the shower in the sauna was much better so I used that instead. The lodge was very (too?) warm, so indoors you’ll be fine in shorts & tshirt even when snow on the ground & below zero. Come prepared. However, no big deal at all, & delighted when that’s all I can think of on a trip that was otherwise close to perfect. The acid test: would I go again? Definitely

This lodge is a true gem. Situated in a beautiful part of Norway - even the journey to and from Tromso is part of the adventure with stunning views (and the occasional moose or reindeer). The lodge itself is a real home from home. Yes the bedrooms are quite small - but that’s clear from the website pictures and you really don’t need anymore. The lodge central areas are spacious, relaxing, charming and also there are areas where, if you want to be, you can be by yourself. The mixture of activities is perfect and close to the lodge, and the short days of winter light mean you have a real chance to relax in the hot tub, or sauna - or maybe just with a book by the fire once your activity is done. On top of all of that - and for me this really stood out - the lodge has a simply superb set of staff. Truly amazing. Welcoming, happy and so helpful. And the food is unbelievably good. We were lucky - with three amazing northern lights displays right from the lodge and also orca on a whale trip from the lodge’s boat, amongst all the other great activities. And yes - there is definitely no guarantee of the northern lights or of whale. But if you come to this lodge, you are certainly giving yourself the best chance. And I feel that if you don’t see them - well you have enjoyed so many other things, that you will still be wanting to return. Just like we all are!

I love the whole concept of Lyngen Lodge enough to have returned for a second time and hopefully not my last. There are eight double rooms so never more than sixteen international visitors, all like minded adventurers. The Lodge and staff are warm and welcoming; the quality of the rooms, food and activities, exemplary, and once you have visited you will want to return. The Northern Lights dance in the star filled skies above the terrace immediately outside the dining room. No need to chase the lights for miles and you have experienced staff on hand to make sure you get the very best photos. The lodge has its own boat for whale watching and the knowledgeable staff explain exactly where to look and what you are seeing. This time there were three very large pods of Orcas. There is nothing like riding in a sled over soft virgin snow being pulled by a pack of adorable huskies. We stopped for a lunch of delicious reindeer stew and a hot drink. There is always a wonderful selection of activities for all abilities.

Having read excellent reviews, Lyngen Lodge lived up to expectations. Elisabeth, Graham and Veronica are excellent hosts, with a great team. Thank you especially to Jenna and Camille. The comfortable lodge is in a fabulous location, with superb views of the fjord and Lyngen Alps. Sauna, jacuzzi and fjord made for great relaxation, and every meal was delicious. Our time spent exploring the local area by boat was fun, and the other guests, part of a yoga retreat made for a most enjoyable stay. I feel revived and refreshed, and will endeavour to visit the lodge in the not too distant future.

This lovely remote lodge situated in the Lyngen Alps, in Northern Norway, was extraordinary. The setting was absolutely gorgeous, the food beautiful and delicious, and the staff and owners so friendly and helpful. The only downside were the very small, but very cute bedrooms. It was a wonderful place to experience the Northern Lights. One minute you’re eating a sumptuous meal and the next you’re rushing outside to view the lights. Again, it was an extraordinary place and experience. If you get the chance, go, go, go.

I am out of superlatives to describe my wonderful recent experience at Lyngen Lodge. From the courteous driver who transported me from my hotel in Tromso to the final wave goodbye from Graham and Veronika, the most charming hosts I have ever had the pleasure to meet, this entire holiday rates as one of the best ever. The Lodge is a lesson in how every 5 star hotel should be run and were it possible to clone Graham and Veronika, every five star hotel could have this magic. The rooms are absolute charm, the food imaginative and delicious, the activities are totally inclusive with every age group admirably catered for by highly experienced and knowledgeable personnel. Naturally most people are excited to see the Northern Lights and we had two occasions to see this amazing kaleidoscope in the sky. All available information as to the very best place to see the lights leads to the Lyngen Fjiord. We didn’t even have to move from the terrace! The staff in the lodge keep their eyes open and we all keep cameras ready at the dinner table to go out when the call comes! How fabulous is that! Graham is a talented photographer himself and will always help you get the very best photos. As I said earlier I have run out of superlatives so suffice to say please don’t ever change as perfection is as good as it’s possible to get.

I have been trying to find the words to explain my experience but I still struggle. The other 5 star reviews you will read about Lyngen Lodge are not an exaggeration - everything is REAL. The biggest shout-out goes to the entire staff who are so well trained and exceptional there is no doubt they truly love what they do. The lodge is located in one of the most remote and magnificent places on earth with the most extraordinary views. You will see the Northern Lights, go on an Orca safari, do some dogsledding and a whole host of other winter based activities. Everything is so perfectly planned you don’t have to worry about anything. Veronika and Graham truly run an excellent business. Be prepared to meet the most inspiring and well travelled guests during your time at the lodge. I will not easily forget the people I met on this trip. Phew!! Thank you so much Lyngen Lodge!

Don't think twice. This was one of my favorite travel experiences ever. We were at the lodge in November. Every day was a memorable adventure with fantastic guides - dog sledding, snowshoeing on a frozen lake, and whale watching. Plus the Northern Lights, a wood-fired sauna, amazing (abundant) food, gracious hospitality, super cozy rooms, lounge areas with a warm fire. And a garage full of gear to make sure you're ready for the elements. Veronika and Graham and the outstanding Lyngen team (including Finlay and Aurora) will take amazing care of you. Highly, highly recommended!

We just returned home from our beautiful trip in Norway, and Lyngen Lodge (Lyngen Alps) was definitely the highlight of all.  - The location is worth the 3-hour drive from Tromso; there is only one word to describe the sceneries - breathtaking! - The lodge looks even better in real than all the photos combined. The staff is very positive and kind; the overall spirit of the place is light and fun.  - Veronica and Graham are superb hosts - very knowledgeable, warm and passionate about their place.  - The rooms are small, but you need them only for sleeping, so overall comfortable.  - The living room and dining area turn into "family" gathering hotspot, and if you are lucky to be there with a nice group of people - it will be unforgettable (like in our case). Beautiful afternoons and evenings filled with fun and inspiring conversations, lots of photo sharing and laughter! We met some truly amazing people there.  - The food is wonderful. They can accommodate different dietary needs (we are vegetarian and enjoyed every single meal).  - The activities are exceptional and fun! We would like to thank again our amazing guide, Philip. Lyngen Lodge is simply magic, and if you end up there with a nice group of people , it will definitely be a memorable experience.
