Fantastic guesthouse with two lovely welcoming hosts that provided us with the local knowledge we needed. Beds were very comfortable and the vegetarian breakfast was delicious!

I am very satisfied with the service attitude. They have been explaining the hotel information to me in detail and attentively since we met. The sanitation is also very clean, with a spotless feeling. The overall experience is quite good.

You need to tell the landlord in advance what you will eat for breakfast. If you don’t tell them, you won’t have anything to eat in the morning. The room facilities are relatively old and the location is acceptable, 20 minutes' walk from the station. The beauty of the Lake District really depends on the weather.

We had the most fantastic time at Kirkwood Guest House. We stayed for 3 nights, and the hosts (Paula and Richard) were exceptionally kind, warm and welcoming. The room was beautiful, all the facilities were clean and well-maintained and we had everything we needed for a fantastic stay. Breakfast was outstanding, with a great selection and freshly cooked. Paula and Richard were such kind hosts, and were happy to have a chat or offer recommendations while also respecting guests' privacy. We felt so at home and welcomed. The Guest House itself is in a beautiful location, in walking distance to both Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere which offered plenty to do, and beautiful walks in the area. We could not recommend this more, and are so happy we stayed here on our visit to the Lake District.

Great location between Windermere and Bowness. Plenty of parking on the roads in quiet area. Room was very clean and beds comfy. We had the family room on the top floor. Breakfast good each day with plenty of choice. Richard and Paula very friendly and helpful. Good value price for a long weekend in school summer holidays.

So we booked to stay here as we were attending a Wedding locally, my husband contacted the owner about possibly having an early check in so that we could change and freshen up before the wedding. When we arrived the owners had prioritised our request and had our room ready and waiting for us. Beautifully decorated and comfortable room with tea and coffee facilities. We were advised it was the smallest room on site however it was more than big enough for our needs and was extremely comfortable. Upon return from the wedding the area was quite and peaceful. Breakfast was cooked perfectly and there was a good selection of cooked options to choose from including gluten free and vegetarian. A good selection of cereals, fruit and yogurts. Freshly made tea, coffee and orange juice. Definitely recommend staying here

Lovely guest house. Very clean. Our room was spacious with a sitting area and the bed was really comfy. Good breakfast cooked every day by Richard and Paula was really friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Ideally situated, can walk into Windermere or Bowness. Lots of pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Parking was not a problem. Can definitely recommend and will stay here again when next visiting The Lake District.

Lovely guest house in easy walking distance from Windermere centre. Hosts were lovely and friendly and the room was very clean. Bed was comfortable but i would say new pillows were definitely needed. Good selection on tea tray and couple of extra bits in case you forgot something (face pads, shower gel etc) which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was nice but bacon and sausage seemed as if they had sat a bit too long, quite dried out. The little pots of yogurt and granola were delicious though. All in all, would stay again as i thought it was a lovely little place to stay.

What a fab guest house, run by lovely people. Our room was warm, cosy and modern. Beds super comfy. We were delighted that they catered for vegans and the food was delicious. The owner was really friendly and happy to make recommendations which was really helpful. We really recommend the kirkwood and will return when we come back to the area. Thank you!

What a beautiful gem of a place Paula and Richard have here . From the moment we walked through the door we were met by Paula who gave us a lovely welcome . We had a beautiful 4 poster room with a lovely bathroom with bath and shower . Everything was immaculately clean and the bed was so comfortable ! Breakfast was delicious and a lovely choice to choose from and Paula as a host really sells the place . It’s only a 10 minute walk into Windemere and Bowness ( we preferred Bowness ) and so much choice of cafes , restaurants and bars. We visited Grasmere ( find the gingerbread shop ) , Ambleside and Windemere . Then on our second day took a very wet and windy walk to Lake Buttermere which was stunning . We had a delicious Indian in Bowness and ate in numerous coffee shops and tea rooms ! Absolutely value for money ! Thank you Amanda &Jonny

Gorgeous guest house! My boyfriend booked here for a surprise weekend for my birthday, and I loved every minute! The guest house is beautiful, Paula and Richard were both lovely and welcoming, and the room was so cute. The guest house is about a 20 minute walk from the lake with so much to do. Plenty of restaurants and bars, shops, and cruises out to other parts of the lake. Cannot fault the area of Kirkwood at all, and we will definitely be back!
