I strongly recommend that friends who come to the Lake District not choose this hotel, because it is no different from a small hotel that is two or three times cheaper. I have no sense of service at all and my attitude is arrogant. I accidentally spilled a little tea on the tablecloth during breakfast (because the table was very small). The landlady "taught" me how to use the tea set in a weird way. ***? It was very uncomfortable and I spent over a thousand pounds after staying for three nights. The room was actually old and dark. The picture is very different from the actual thing. Don't come.

We stayed for three nights in The Bowness Suite, it was beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly stay with you again. The breakfast was excellent and choices were great. Such a wonderful hotel in such lovely surroundings. Thank you Caroline and Jonathan for such a warm welcome and a wonderful stay.

We stayed in the Windermere room and the bed was really comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was beautiful and spacious, complete with chandelier! The room itself had lots of character, overlooking the front garden with a lovely window seat. The furniture had an "arched" motif to match the window shape which was a nice touch. Breakfast was chosen from a menu card in the room which contained all the usual choices such as cereals, yoghurt and fruit, cooked items, toast, etc., and this card was filled in, also selecting the desired time slot, and then hung on the room door handle. This ensured that breakfast was served beautifully and efficiently each morning. A great system! The owners, Jonathan and Caroline, are such a lovely couple and always able to offer helpful advice on things to do and places to dine. On our first night there, we were even able to attend the Lakeland shop Christmas tree switch-on, thanks to Caroline letting us know it was happening. This was our first time at Cedar Manor and they made us feel so welcome with nothing being too much trouble. We tend to have a yearly break in the Lakes and we will definitely be back at Cedar Manor at some point.

So many properties and hotels nowadays are run by bureaucrats. At Cedar Manor, the hosts are thoughtful, hospitable, and have good taste. This especially shines through in the food. Don’t miss the afternoon Tea, where you can probably skip dinner afterwards. Breakfasts are exceptional as well. The hotel itself sits in an oasis of superb landscaping; on entering you seem to leave the hurly-burly of the touristy area of Windermere, even though it’s not far away.

Just spent New Year at Cedar Manor and, as usual, the most pleasurable experience. Their standards of absolutely everything always remain at the highest level you could wish for. This time, on arrival, we had booked afternoon tea. It was just brilliant, if anyone has had better we would really like to know where! Several very original thoughts, a choice of at least 12 teas that even we, as avid coffee drinkers, just had to try. Rooms are always beautifully furnished, presented & incredibly clean. Breakfast is just the best with fantastic choice. Don't forget to use the bar too, before you go out to dinner, after you come back, well almost anytime actually! Superb choice of quality wine, beer & spirits. Just ring the bell & magically Jonathan appears for great service always with a smile too. Great restaurants nearby as listed in details you get provided with, although people who have visited Cedar Manor over the years know where the best one was (& still is if you try the afternoon tea) Jonathan & Caroline have made this our number one place to stay for several years now & we look forward already to our next visit. Don't hesitate to book Alan & Karen S

We went recently for afternoon tea. We were a group of six celebrating a 50th birthday. From start to finish everything was perfection. Four of our party were vegetarian and were so well catered for. The food was absolutely amazing. We have had afternoon tea in many places but this is without a doubt the best we have ever had. The attention to detail was amazing. There were even little 50th birthday jewels on the table. It would be hard to pick out a favourite treat as they were all amazing but the crumble with gingerbread topping was so delicious. To be honest five stars isn’t enough and I’d give it more if I could. It was our first visit but it definitely won’t be our last. A huge thank you to all the staff at Cedar Manor

Wet & windy day, saw this lovely hotel advertising afternoon tea, thought we’d call in for a drink/food, ‘welcome’ sign on the doorstep, (later found out ‘not’ welcome). Entered only to be told ‘not open to non-residents’ the place was empty, can’t believe businesses turn people away in today’s financial climate, has a big sign outside saying afternoon tea! Need to change this to ‘not open to non-residents’ to save people the effort of parking up, respectfully taking off muddy boots only to be told sorry not open to non-residents unless you’ve pre-booked an afternoon tea! Crazy!

Best afternoon tea we've ever had. The waitress and Jonathan were lovely. The afternoon tea is divided into 4 courses, pre starter, starter, main (sandwiches), desserts (assorted). Very generous and a bargain. Lots of choice of fresh loose tea, blue lady is the best. Tea refills are infinite as well. So so so beautiful and delicious. If you're in the area it's worth a visit. Favourite part was the beautiful cucumber sandwiches, salmon, and the choux pastries with creme patisserie. Absolutely gorgeous. There's parking on site too. Thanks for the great experience ❤️
