Xiao Mu Deng Steamboat

#moreinsg Address: 1 Selegie Road, #01-18 GR.ID Mall. Singapore 188306. Opening hours: 11am to 2am midnight, daily This is a steamboat restaurant that carries a rich food culture of Chong Qing. A place that is filled with traditional wooden and painted stories of southwest China in it's olden days. As we arrived after 9pm, there is a promo that is $20 per pax for the hotpot buffet, we started with the soups that came in a yuan yang pot. Pork Bone and Tomyam Soup was our choice, I personally like their Tomyam soup as it’s more flavorful. It is also come with a bbq plate so you can enjoy both grilled and hotpot. As we arrived late, some of the meats are sold out and they will not replenish, what a pity, overall it’s still not a bad choice with this promo price, but I don’t think I will visit again.

Egg World

Address - TamagoEn 9 Bishan Pl, #01-37/37A Junction 8, Singapore 579837 Ambiance/Facilities - casual dining, japanese style Highlights - Who doesn't like egg? This restaurant serve all menu with egg that is why it's called "Tamago" which means egg in Japanese language. Junction 8 branch here is very quite and usually no one come during weekdays. I went there with my friend to dine in, ordered steak and cheese as well as omusoba. The food is nice although considered quite expensive. In the end, after we settled the bill, I still order their okonomiyaki style omelette to bring home. It's cheaper for takeaway as we don't need to pay service charge. Avg. Price per Person - $30+ Rating - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you are a fan of egg/omelette, you should try. I recommend their okonomiyaki, it's super nice! #moreinsg

calm spot

A nice and relaxing restaurant for breakfast/brunch. They have great breakfast menu for 18 SGD only. My favorite is the mushroom scramble. The staff are great. They are always quick to help and very polite and have good knowledge on the menu. Great ambience and they also let you use the laptop when you need to work. Really appreciate that since more cafes/restos limit the usage of laptop. This is a calm and comfortable place. #singaporetrip #thingstodo #myitinerary

A&W Northshore Plaza @ Punggol

#sgfoodies The perfect place for a chill out session after your walks at Coney Island. This A&W is located at Northshore Plaza 2 and you will be greeted by its bright orange A&W vibes. I always come here for their signature waffles with butter and honey. It’s my favourite dessert from A&W. I couldn’t resist the root beer & fried chicken too cos they looked so appetizing on the screen as I scroll down the self service kiosk so so just had to order them as well. 😅 Overall, I enjoyed my “pre-dinner” meal after my walk at Punggol Park. 👍🏻

Great Classy Short Retreat at Oakwood!

Great Classy Short Retreat at Oakwood!

This Oakwood has been on my radar since my staycay binge started, then a recent Trip.com promo triggered that impulse and my booking was done fast & furious for yet another weekday stay. Check In – Arriving to an empty Oakwood bell desk on a weekday late morning, I took the lift to level 7 where the lobby is located. The space was completely empty when I arrived and was attended to by Nicole who was all smiley efficiency. S Room – My Studio King (28-32 SqM), Room 3110, was really quite nice! The split function layout made the space feel bigger than it is. You’ll see a kitchenette which contains your mini bar, nespresso coffee and tea bags, as well as a fully equipped stock of glassware and cutleries etc, then your bedroom which contains a huge hollywood king (2 super single beds pushed together) which was just the right amount of softness for me, alongside 2 bedside tables and lights control. Opposite the bed is a chilling daybed and coffee table, a WFH set up of bench table + chair, as well as a non-smart TV. The bathroom is a tight space – fully adequate for a short stay though. A single sink with limited countertop space adjacent to the toilet, and then your shower stall on the other end. Toiletries are Comfort Zone’s Mediterranean series which was not too bad. Breakfast – My stay straddled the return of Phase 2 Heightened Alert and my breakfast the next morning was impacted unfortunately. Due to the no dine- in rule, in-house guests with breakfast included in their package are invited to order and collect their breakfast at their restaurant, Se7enth , located at level 7 from 6:30am – 10:00am. The items to be packed into your boxes are on display presuming so you can see or pick & choose if you like. Facilities – Both the Fitness Centre and the Pool are located on level 7 and you meander your way through a short walkway to them. This space is also where the Executive Lounge is which would have been quite nice on normal days. Great Stay! #hotelstay#urbanexplorer

Mala Lovers, Check Out Jia Xiang Mala Hotpot at Velocity@Novena

#favouriteitinerary If you're craving a solid bowl of mala tang or a satisfying mala xiang guo, Jia Xiang Mala Hotpot Mala Tang at Velocity@Novena is a spot worth checking out. We love how they let us customize our meal by picking fresh ingredients, choosing our spice level, and selecting from different soup bases. ### Pricing & How It Works At $2.68 per 100g, we can mix and match our ingredients, from leafy greens to meats, seafood, and tofu. There’s a minimum order of $10, but that’s easy to hit, especially if we’re feeling extra hungry. For mala tang, we can pick a soup base for just $1 extra: - mala soup – spicy, numbing, and aromatic - tomato soup – slightly tangy and comforting - clear soup – light and simple, perfect for balancing out stronger flavors - pickled vegetable soup – a tangy, appetizing broth They also have side dishes to complete the meal, like: - rice – $1.50 - maggie noodles – $2.38 - sweet potato noodles – $2.80 ### Flavors & Spice Levels One thing we appreciate is that their mala isn’t just about heat—it’s fragrant and well-balanced, with just the right amount of oil. Whether we prefer a mild kick or a serious burn, they’ve got us covered: - mild spicy (小辣) – just a touch of heat - medium spicy (中辣) – stronger but still enjoyable - super spicy (大辣) – for those who love the burn For mala tang (mala soup) lovers, the broth is creamy and rich, and even at the mild level, we can still taste the heat. If we’re in the mood for something different, their tom yum, pork bone, or pickled vegetable soups offer great alternatives. ### What About Fried Pork? While they don’t have a specific fried pork dish, we spotted spicy diced chicken (辣子鸡, $21) on the menu. It’s crispy, packed with chili and Sichuan peppercorns, and super addictive. ### Is It Worth It? We’d say yes! The portions are generous, the flavors are bold, and we love being able to control exactly how our bowl turns out. Some reviews mention that service can be hit-or-miss, but if we’re all about the food, this is a solid go-to for a mala fix. If you’re around Novena and craving numbing, spicy, and addictive mala goodness, give Jia Xiang Mala Hotpot Mala Tang a shot! #thingstodo #localfood #myitinerary
