Wellington Day Out: Nature and Nightlife

Wellington offers the perfect blend of tranquillity and excitement, all in one day. My visit to the city began with a peaceful stroll through the Wellington Botanic Garden, where lush greenery and vibrant flowers painted the landscape. The serene pathways led me to scenic views over the city, and the begonia house was a delightful burst of colour. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or just seeking some calm, this garden is a must-see oasis in the heart of the city. As night fell, I headed to Library Bar on Courtenay Place, a hidden gem offering an intimate atmosphere. Shelves lined with books create a cosy, vintage vibe, while the cocktails were crafted to perfection. The menu featured creative mixes, and the lively yet relaxed energy made it the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. Wellington’s ability to offer both nature’s tranquillity and the city’s vibrant nightlife is what makes it truly special. My day there left me refreshed and entertained, proving that this city knows how to balance the best of both worlds. #newzealand #wellington #relaxation #travel

Southernmost Point of North Island, NZ

Cape Palliser is a charming lighthouse located in Wairarapa, on the North Island of New Zealand. Interestingly, it is also the southernmost point of the North Island. Make a 253 steps climb to reach the lighthouse and you will be generously rewarded with the magnificent views of the blue seas and the rugged coastline from the top. If you are there during the evening, I recommend you stay till sunset as you will be able to catch a clear unobstructed view of the sun setting beyond the glistening blue seas. You can plan a day trip there from Wellington as it is only about an hour plus drive away from Wellington. #momentssg #newzealand #scenicspotguide

ARRIVAL INTO WELLINGTON!

Wellington airport was overWELLmington! 😂 get it? This was my first time ever to travel to Wellington, all other previous trips to Nz was to Auckland only so finally seeing a different of NZ was a fresh experience. Not as big as Akl airport but it’s still big compared to my home airport (Fiji) and I couldnt help but admire all the goodies they had at the airport! #travel #airport #wellington #nz

Staff was quite pleasant and food was good. I really enjoyed my beef burger and everyone else at my table enjoyed their meal too. The food is very professionally done, even on a busy Saturday morning we waited less than 20 min for our food. The coffee's pretty good, and the venue is nice and cosy. I got the club sandwich, which was way bigger than I expected (a pleasant surprise) while the missus got the broccoli soup, which was special at the time. Great to have this little gem in Miramar. #newzealandtrip #couplestrip #thingstodo

Dining at Shed 5: Lovely Setting, Mixed Impressions

#newzealandtrip Our dinner at Shed 5 in Wellington was a blend of highs and lows. The setting was elegant and inviting, creating a great atmosphere for the evening. We enjoyed seafood chowder, lamb tenderloin, grouper with brown butter mash, and seafood risotto. While the presentation was appealing, the flavors didn’t quite hit the mark—the lamb and grouper felt underseasoned. The seafood risotto stood out as a highlight. Unfortunately, service was slow, with nearly an hour wait for the mains, suggesting possible understaffing. Despite these hiccups, the overall experience was pleasant but fell short of expectations. Shed 5’s charm remains, but it might shine better on a less busy day.

High quality food

Not only is the place very presentable but they do some professional cooking here. I found the food to be absolutely delicious and impeccably prepared. Our waitress was very attentive, friendly and helpful. She couldn't have been any more so! The menu is geared around sharing with the table which was fun. Loretta is very well worth a visit if you're looking for great food and a great dining experience in the central city. #newzealandtrip #familytravel

Amazing rock formations you need to see!

If you're a huge fan of lord of the rings, you would recognize this place as the setting for the "Paths of the dead" scene in Return of the King! This is a MUST VISIT for anyone travelling to the North Island of New Zealand! The rock formation is just out of the world and unreal, looking like a place I've only seen in movies. A truly spectacular ancient rock formation, perfect for photographers to photograph. The walking trails are also properly maintained, allowing visitors to walk the route with ease. Getting here: The nearest city is Martinborough. From the nearest carpark, allow at least 2 hours to return, and remember to take lots of water with you! Its quite a simple hike to reach the main vantage point of the Pinnacle but it's always good to be well prepared! #momentssg #unforgettableexperiences #nationalpark #scenicspotguide
