Originally, in 1919, Kenichi Fujita, the first president of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, had a gardener from Tokyo create this Edo-style garden when he built his residence there. The garden covers a total area of approximately 21,800 m (approximately 6,600 tsubo). The garden is divided into an upland area and a lowland area by a 13-meter-high cliff. The upland garden is a borrowed landscape garden overlooking Mount Iwaki. It includes a Western-style building, a Japanese-style building, and an archaeological museum, all of which are registered tangible cultural properties. The buildings are a valuable heritage harking back to the Taisho era. The Western-style building features a scenic view. Many original artifacts, such as stained glass and window panes, remain even today. The museum also features the "Taisho Romantic Tea Room," where you can try different apple pies. Be sure to enjoy! The original shape of Hotokegaura is said to have been formed by undersea volcanic activity approximately 20 million years ago. The mysterious rows of gigantic and oddly shaped rocks are made of tuff, which is brittle and prone to crumbling, and their surfaces are constantly eroding. It was designated a National Natural Monument in 1941. There are two ways to get to Hotokegaura. 1. Drive to the parking lot and walk along the promenade. 2. Traveling by sightseeing boat I walked the approximately 600m promenade. The parking lot is located at an elevation of about 100m, and it takes about 20 minutes down the mountain path to reach Hotokegaura. There are benches along the way to rest. The return journey is uphill, taking about 40 minutes. Sneakers or other comfortable walking shoes are recommended. 📌Aomori City 1️⃣Aomori Port It is definitely the most beautiful place in Aomori City (my own review). Although it is an active port, it is crystal clear (here I will talk about Victoria Harbor) (although the throughput is completely incomparable) (overwhelming). Walk about 50 meters north from Shin-Aomori Station to the port. You can visit the Nebuta House and A-Factory below. I sat on a bench by the sea and listened to an online class, feeling the sea breeze and listening to the children playing. It was very lively. If you walk, you can see Hakodate (only a little bit) and Mount Osore in the northeast (most of it). It is recommended to walk along the trail to the lighthouse. In the afternoon, you can take pictures of energetic dresses or sailor suits, or wait until the sunset to tie a dog to take pictures. 2️⃣Nebuta House Nebuta is a unique culture of Aomori City. There is a Nebuta Festival every summer. Specialized craftsmen will make many large lantern floats (bamboo/wood frame + paper paste + ink hand-painted), the themes are generally the Warring States period or strange stories, and the best of the year will be selected after the parade. It is said that it originated from learning to make lanterns for the Tanabata Festival, but I don’t know how I learned it like this. The Sleeping Demon House includes the annual specials of previous years, as well as history and production techniques. There will be many festival music performances every day (taiko, shakuhachi, shamisen, etc.), and you can generally feel the very rich folk customs of northern Japan. The tour time is about half an hour. 3️⃣A-Factory Aomori Prefecture is rich in apples. A-Factory is a super-large apple product store. Various apples are divided into different grades according to sweetness and crispness and have very nice names (I have never seen so many kinds of apples in my life). There is delicious apple ice cream on the first floor, and you can taste two kinds of apple wine for free on the second floor. You can also add a set meal, up to 16 kinds. The tour time is 20 minutes if you don’t drink, and 35 minutes if you drink. 4️⃣Aomori Tourism Products Museum The first floor is the best place to buy souvenirs (concentrated + diverse + large quantity + cheap). The apple pie at the three o'clock direction facing the central escalator after entering the door is amazing. After buying a ticket (more than ten RMB), you can take the elevator to the top floor observation tower. I think it is quite beautiful. You can go there if you have enough time. The estimated visiting time (shopping + observation tower) is 1 hour. 5️⃣Aomori Prefectural Art Museum Modern architectural style + large lawn + forest, located in the west of Aomori City, a short distance from the central area, mainly featuring the works of Yoshitomo Nara, you can go there if you are interested. 6️⃣Sannai Maruyama Ruins The ruins of the Japanese Jomon Period (Neolithic Age) are right next to the art museum. You can go there if you have enough time. (Large lawn + wooden house + tall pillars, the most famous one is a clay doll with a broken leg that looks like an alien, the same one is available in the Tourism Products Museum)
