Layers of steak, ham, linguiça sausage and roast meat — completely covered in melted cheese and drowned in a rich tomato-and-beer sauce. You either fall in love with it… or spend the rest of the trip thinking about it. 🌭 Porto’s Ultimate Snack 📍 Gazela Cachorrinhos (€4.60) Thin crispy baguette filled with fresh sausage, linguiça, melted cheese and spicy piri-piri sauce — pressed and cut into bite-sized pieces. Don’t let fancy interiors fool you. 🥚 Portugal’s Most Underrated Sweet 📍 Peixinho (Aveiro) ✨ Ovos Moles (€1.80) Sweet, soft and uniquely Portuguese. Hands down my favourite version. 🌟 Bonus Stop — McDonald’s Imperial (Porto) Possibly the most beautiful McDonald’s I’ve visited. Stained glass, chandeliers and interiors that feel more like a historic café than fast food. Try one of the local menu items. Besides the cultural landscape, the greatest joy of traveling is the local food, especially the kind you come across by chance, which always makes you regret not having met it earlier. On the second morning in Aveiro, I wanted to eat Portuguese desserts 🍮 with coffee, and I happened to see Ramos, which had just opened! There were no customers when I sat down at first, but it was full in a short while. It turned out that I accidentally came across a popular restaurant. I was so lucky 👍 The most famous items in the store are egg tarts, white icing sugar and baked bread. I personally feel that every egg tart I have eaten in Portugal is like a delicacy. The dense texture is quite different from Andre in Macau, it is hard to describe ❤️. The frosting is a little too sweet for me, it's like eating candy bars! I also recommend their freshly made bread 🥯, which smells so good when it’s hot out of the oven that it’s sold out in no time (but you need to wait). #One-day tour in the city Portugal's long and narrow terrain is suitable for driving. If you don't drive, you can consider taking a train. After leaving Porto, I came to Aveiro, a three-hour drive. This one-day trip, which was originally used as a relay station, gave me a full sense of relaxation. ❤️ This small city by the sea really gives people the illusion of Venice, especially the pointed painted boats at both ends. This is a photogenic waterfront promenade that we really enjoyed. The sky was bright blue that day, the sun was shining beautifully, and we could see the vast expanse of water on one side, while houses lined the street on the other. The atmosphere was peaceful and serene; we couldn't help but find our way. What we loved most was the long, curving coastal promenade. The view was stunning, especially on a beautiful day like this. Just walking along, taking photos, and enjoying the surroundings was incredibly peaceful. Costa Nova also has another highlight: its brightly colored, striped houses, a unique characteristic of the town. If you're visiting Aveiro, we highly recommend making time to stop by Costa Nova. One of the most adorable spots we visited was the Ponte dos Laços de Amizade. The highlight of this bridge is the railings, which are covered in rows of colorful ribbons tied along both sides, making the atmosphere feel incredibly vibrant and lively. Walking across feels quite different from your average bridge. The small details—like each individual ribbon—give the place a sense of narrative, as if it’s a space where people have intentionally left behind memories or special sentiments. Aveiro what a jewellery, got the train from Porto, Sao Bento station, took 1hr and was 3.75 Euro each way. The canals are beautiful, the cobbled backstreets are charming and picturesque, with open squares with lots of bars and restaurants. Walking through Lisbon's Alfama old town, wandering the cobblestone alleys adorned with blue and white azulejo tiles, and visiting the Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery to reflect on the glory days of the maritime era; exploring the fairytale palaces of Sintra, and then standing at Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe, feeling the Atlantic breeze as you gaze at the endless coast. Heading further north to Porto, admiring the colorful old houses lining the Douro River, and tasting the classic local Port wine; also taking a detour to charming little towns like Óbidos and Aveiro, which are quiet, relaxing, and have far fewer crowds.  Freshly baked pastéis de nata from the historic Belém bakery, sprinkled with cinnamon and paired with a shot of espresso; codfish dishes prepared in countless ways, sweet and savory seafood rice, and Porto's signature Francesinha sandwich—every bite is packed with local flavor.

I am not talking only about magnets and keychains. I like local snacks, traditional products, cute packaging, handmade items and anything that makes me think, “YES, this is so Portugal!” 🇵🇹 During my Portugal trip, I discovered Confeitaria Peixinho, a famous traditional shop known for Ovos Moles de Aveiro. The shop dates back to 1856, so it has been making these traditional sweets for around 170 years! 🤯 Ovos Moles are one of Aveiro’s best-known specialties, traditionally made with egg yolks and sugar, often wrapped in a thin wafer shaped like shells, fish and other designs. The shop itself immediately caught my attention. The beautiful green interior, old-fashioned design and rows and rows of colourful boxes were basically screaming: “Come in. Spend money. You are on holiday.”💸 So obviously... I listened. I bought a box of Ovos Moles just to try. BIG MISTAKE. Not because they were bad, but because they were too good! 😭😂 They were sweet, rich and very different from the usual desserts I eat. After trying them, my first thought was: “WHY DID I ONLY BUY ONE BOX?!” I wanted to bring more home for my family and friends, but these traditional sweets don't keep forever, so sadly I couldn't transform my luggage into a Peixinho warehouse. 😂 That's probably the funniest thing about my travel personality. I always tell myself, “Don't buy too much.” Then five minutes later: 👀 “Mum might like this.” 👀 “This one is for my friend.” 👀 “Maybe I need one too.” 👀 “Actually... You can come here not just for a walk, but to truly recharge. 😌 ⚡️🦚Buçaco is not just a forest, but a veritable open-air dendrological museum: it is home to around 250 species of trees and shrubs, including rare exotics that Portuguese explorers brought back from distant lands. 🌳✨ Plus history: Carmelite monks used to live here and tended the forest, and now you can stroll along the paths and imagine what it looked like hundreds of years ago. Tucked into the side alcoves and small café counters (the Cafetaria São Bentoinside the main hall or the newsstand-bar to the left as you enter) are a couple of TVs usually tuned to news—but ask nicely, and during World Cup weeks they'll flip to the early group-stage match if it's on. I had a morning connection from Porto to Aveiro for a later game, but the 11:00 kickoff (a classic South American early slot) was too good to miss—so I bought a meia de leite(half coffee/half warm milk—very Porto) and a bola de Berlim(custard-filled doughnut), parked myself at a marble bistro table with a diagonal view of the café's wall-mounted screen, and caught the first 35 minutes of Argentina vs Saudi Arabia while listening to the echo of station announcements and the shuffle of commuters' shoes on those iconic tiles.
