This Cantonese restaurant in Luohu, Shenzhen... is definitely one to bookmark and revisit. 😋 A long-standing brand that's been open since 1989 in Shekou, it's practically a "living fossil" of local cuisine. 🔥 For over 30 years, they've insisted on open-kitchen cooking, high-heat "wok hei," and zero pre-made dishes. Now they've opened a branch in Luohu, and the location is super convenient—right near the port. The environment has a retro Hong Kong vibe; it feels a bit like a dai pai dong but without the noise. It's comfortable and atmospheric. Perfect for dates, family dinners, gatherings with friends, or even late-night snacks. 💯 Must-try recommendations ・Black Bombay duck Super surprising! Squid ink crispy batter + tender Bombay duck. The outer layer is crispy, and the inside is super soft and tender—it melts in your mouth and is incredibly fresh and sweet. ・Signature sand ginger oil chicken The chicken is tender and juicy, and the sand ginger paired with the aromatic oil is super flavorful. It tastes refreshing and appetizing. ・Soulful spinach stuffed tofu (must order) A traditional handmade Zhanjiang dish. 😋 The process is complex, made with hand-ground spinach juice and soy milk. The green tofu is so eye-catching! 🤩 The outer layer is lightly pan-fried, and the inside is incredibly soft and smooth. Topped with shredded scallops, it's fresh, sweet, and light. ・Sea worm rice The sea worms are crunchy and springy, with a rich umami flavor. Mixing it with rice is super tasty. ・Maoming rice noodles Authentic handmade Maoming rice noodles. The noodles are smooth and elastic, and the sauce is savory with a hint of sweetness—full of local Cantonese street food flavor. ・Oyster, shrimp, and crab congee (late-night special) The congee base is smooth, packed with the essence of seafood. The oysters are fresh and sweet, and the shrimp and crab flavors are rich. It's especially warming and satisfying at night. ・Spicy garlic chicken feet tendons The chicken feet tendons are crunchy and chewy, with a rich garlic aroma that's super flavorful. You won't be able to stop eating them—they're perfect with drinks. The chicken feet tendons are crunchy and chewy, with a rich garlic aroma that's super flavorful. You won't be able to stop eating them. ・Yangjiang goose fried rice "Yangjiang specialty goose fried rice." The goose meat is fragrant and rich with fat. It's stir-fried until dry but not hard. You don't need to go to Baisha to get a taste of Yangjiang. ・Chicken-shaped milk tea A big ice chicken—a must-drink for photos! ⁉️ The tea flavor is rich with a slight aftertaste, and the milk is smooth without being cloying. It's the perfect drink after a flavorful meal.

After a few days in Kunming, we took the high-speed train to Lijiang—an easy journey of about 3–3.5 hours. We stayed for three days, and it quickly became one of our favorite places in Yunnan. Day 1 – Lijiang Old Town Lijiang is one of those cities where it's best to simply wander. Stone streets, crystal-clear canals, arched bridges, wooden houses covered in flowers, and the constant sound of running water create an incredibly peaceful atmosphere. We visited Mu's Residence (Mu Palace), which became one of our favorite spots in the city. The palace itself is beautiful, but the best part is climbing to the top for panoramic views over Lijiang's rooftops with the mountains in the distance. We were lucky to visit in mid-April, when spring was at its peak. Trees were blooming everywhere, the weather was warm without being too hot, and the whole city was filled with color. The sun in Yunnan is surprisingly strong, though, so sunscreen and a hat are definitely worth bringing. Lijiang is also famous for its traditional indigo tie-dye textiles. Everywhere we looked, deep blue fabrics were hanging out to dry, while shops displayed clothing, scarves, bags, and home décor made from the same handcrafted material. We even found a small workshop offering dyeing classes. Instead of joining one, we ordered a custom piece of fabric for sewing projects back home—and, to our surprise, it was ready the very next day. Food was another highlight. Besides Yunnan rice noodles, we especially loved the local grilled pork ribs served with fresh herbs, mint, and a citrus dipping sauce—a simple but unforgettable combination. Day 2 – Baisha, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain & Shuhe We started early with a taxi to Baisha Ancient Town, which turned out to be our favorite village around Lijiang. Compared with Dali, it felt much quieter, especially in the morning. Traditional Naxi houses stand beneath the dramatic backdrop of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, making almost every street feel like a postcard. We explored the famous ancient murals, visited small museums, watched artisans creating delicate silk embroidery and traditional metal crafts, and browsed some of the most interesting souvenir shops we found anywhere in Yunnan. From Baisha we continued to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain scenic area. We skipped the cable car because the weather was already warm and there wasn't much snow visible from above, but we did watch the spectacular outdoor performance Impression Lijiang, buying our tickets directly at the entrance. Later we stopped in Shuhe Ancient Town. While its center felt similar to Lijiang, we enjoyed the quieter atmosphere, the stream running through town, and the many traditional costume photo studios that made parts of Shuhe look like a film set. Day 3 – Tiger Leaping Gorge On our last morning, we headed to the bus station and traveled independently to Tiger Leaping Gorge. Many people book organized tours, but we chose public transport instead. Finding the correct bus and figuring out where to get off took some patience, but we made it—and it was one of the best decisions of the trip. If you're planning a trip through Yunnan, I'd recommend giving Lijiang at least three full days. Between the old town, nearby villages, mountain scenery, and local culture, there's far more to experience than a quick overnight stop.

The Art of Soft Time: A Creator’s Guide to Lijiang Old Town Lijiang is often celebrated for its labyrinth of willow-lined canals, cobblestone bridges, and the dramatic silhouette of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain framing the tiled roofs. But if you only stick to the main commercial thoroughfares, it’s easy to get lost in the noise. To experience the true ikigai the deeper soul and slower pace of this ancient Naxi kingdom, you have to know where to base yourself, when to wake up, and how to escape the tourist track. 🏡 Where to Stay: Finding Sanctuary in the Stone MazeThe greater Lijiang area is actually divided into three distinct old towns: Dayan (the grand, bustling main old town), Shuhe, and Baisha. For Panoramic Vistas (Dayan Old Town): If you want to stay in the heart of it all but crave privacy, book a boutique courtyard inn perched on the slopes of Lion Hill (Shizishan) or the Xinhua/Shuangshi sections. Properties here feature terraced, Song-style minimalist architecture with floor-to-ceiling glass. You can wake up to the morning mist rolling over thousands of ancient tiled roofs right from your bed. Note: Cars cannot enter the old town lanes; choose an inn that provides butler luggage service to meet you at the gate. For Seclusion & Creative Space (Shuhe or Baisha): If you prefer a slow, artisanal vibe over nightlife, base yourself at the edge of Shuhe Ancient Town or a quiet village nearby. It’s vastly quieter, features incredibly crystal-clear spring water canals, and caters to travelers looking to read, write, or work remotely with unobstructed mountain views. 🗺️ Where to Go: The Essential Dayan RitualsThe Mu Residence (木府): Often called the "Forbidden City of Lijiang," this sprawling palace complex belonged to the hereditary Naxi chieftains. Instead of just touring the courtyards, climb the stone steps leading into the forested park behind the palace. It takes you up to a hilltop pavilion that offers a breathtaking, bird's-eye view over the entire valley. Black Dragon Pool Park (黑龙潭): Located just a short, scenic walk north along the river canals from the big waterwheel. Go early in the morning (before 8:00 AM) when the water is perfectly still. The classic reflection of the marble Five-Hole Bridge, the wooden pavilion, and the towering peaks of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain mirrored in the pond is an iconic shot that requires zero editing. Zhongyi Market (忠义市场): To witness the raw, living heartbeat of Lijiang, head to this local market at the southern edge of the old town. In the early morning, local Naxi elders dress in traditional blue-and-white "seven stars and moon" capes to sell fresh highland produce, wild matsutake mushrooms, and yak milk cheese. 💎 Hidden Gems: Escaping the Crowds 1. Baima Longtan Temple (白马龙潭寺)Hidden away near Bailong Square, most travelers walk right past the narrow entrance of this secluded oasis. Built around a crystal-clear mountain spring (the White Horse Dragon Pond), it remains a sacred, active place of quiet reflection for local residents. The ancient trees, gentle incense smoke, and absolute silence offer an instant escape from the mid-day heat and crowds of Sifang Street .2. The Upper Alleys of Wuyi & Qiyi Streets (The Water-Walk)Instead of following the central crowds toward the bars, deliberately pick the narrowest alleys that branch off Wuyi Street and trace the upper, smaller canals. Look for the lesser-known paths like Zhongyi Alley or the quiet stone bridges hidden behind hanging oil-paper umbrellas. If you wander here at sunrise, you’ll have the mist-covered cobblestones entirely to yourself. 3. Baisha Old Town (The Artisanal Alternative)Located about 20 minutes north of Dayan by taxi, Baisha is where Lijiang’s soul retreated. It’s a tiny, unpolished ancient village where tie-dye fabrics hang out to dry across quiet alleys. It has become a magnet for independent digital creators, artists, and independent coffee roasters. Sit on a rooftop café here with an espresso, listening to traditional Naxi string music while looking directly out at the snow peaks. #lijiang #yunnan #chinatravel #hiddengems #visualsofearth #travelcreators #slowtravel #exploremore

Here you’ll find unique basalt black reefs, spectacular windmill hills, and thousands of acres of mangroves with egrets flying together—perfect for photography and a slow-paced lifestyle! 💕 ✅【Must-Visit Attractions】 📍 Heipaijiao Basalt Secret Spot Salt Island’s “internet-famous face,” where black basalt reefs contrast beautifully with the glassy sea. At low tide, the mirror-like sandy beach reflects the sky, earning it the name "Sky Mirror." From 4 to 6 PM at sunset, the reefs shimmer with colorful hues under the setting sun, creating a perfect photo atmosphere. 📍 Guanyin Mountain Windmill Field 20 giant white windmills stand atop the hill, offering a 360° panoramic view of the entire island and Shuangyue Bay. Climb at 4 PM when the sunlight slants and the windmill shadows stretch long. Wearing light-colored clothes under the windmills makes for photos straight out of a summer comic. 📍 Baisha Village Mangrove Wetland A spectacular scene of thousands of egrets returning to roost at dusk—get your telephoto lens ready! You can take a small boat through the mangroves (boat rental 30 RMB/person). The best photo spots are the rooftop of Egret Garden Inn or the rooftop of Panwu No.7 Restaurant. 📍 Wanzai Beach Sunrise Spot Catch the sunrise at 5 AM. After the tide recedes, the reef crevices are full of cat’s eye snails and small crabs! Bring a small bucket and shovel for a great catch. The colorful reef beach sparkles under the sun, making every shot a masterpiece. 📍 Yangwu Village Beach A paradise for photography lovers with unique Heipaijiao geological features. The waves crashing against the reefs create stunning scenes. At low tide, you can hunt for shellfish—remember to wear non-slip shoes. 📍 Ancient Salt Field Ruins Visit to learn about traditional salt-making techniques (if open) and the island’s salt harvesting history. Chat with local fishermen to experience the slow pace of fishing village life. 📍 Caishitan Beach A beach full of colorful stones sparkling in the sunlight, a hotspot for photos straight from the camera! Great for shell collecting and exploring sea caves. 🏖️【March Off-the-Beaten-Path Activities】 1️⃣ Windmill Hill Sunset Camping: Rent a tent for 80 RMB at Guanyin Mountain Windmill Field to watch the “windmill sunset.” The orange-red sunset gilds the windmills, and drone shots capture a 3D view of “windmills + tidal flats + village.” 2️⃣ Mangrove Kayak Adventure: Learn to kayak through the mangroves with fishermen, observe egret ecology, costing about 50 RMB/person. 3️⃣ Traditional Salt-Making Experience: Try traditional salt-making in Baisha Village, make your own salt jar for 10 RMB to take home! Learn about island salt culture. 🍜【Must-Try Snacks】 🔸 Fresh seafood from fishing rafts: Ajiao fishing raft processing fee is 10 RMB per jin, steamed mantis shrimp is so fresh and sweet you’ll stomp your feet! Recommended to buy seafood yourself at Dutou Village market and have it processed by local homestays, 30% cheaper than ordering directly. 🔸 Town center snack street: Opens at 4 PM with a big variety of stalls! Try mouse sugar water, steamed rice cakes, shrimp cakes at 3 RMB each, and super sticky bowl cakes—10 RMB fills you up. 🔸 Specialty breakfast: Dazhou Restaurant’s rice rolls and oyster pancakes, wildly popular with locals! Salt Island’s breakfast staple “vegetable tea” is 15 RMB per bowl, made with pork bone broth base, fried rice, peanuts, spinach, and shredded squid. 🔸 Handmade rice cakes: Baisha Village’s “Zhang’s Rice Cakes” sell handmade rice cakes for 10 RMB per bag, made with sea salt, peanuts, and sesame. In 2025, they will launch “Mangrove Rice Cakes” with tender mangrove leaf bits, salty and fragrant with a fresh plant aroma. 🏨【Accommodation Choices】 🔴 Want to see egrets and easily hunt shellfish: Choose homestays in Baisha Village. Open your window to mangroves, watch egrets return at dusk, with full shellfish hunting gear, but fewer dining options. 🔴 Want to see sunrise and take great photos: Choose sea view rooms near Wanzai Village or Xichong Beach. Step out onto the beach with many photo spots, perfect for quiet visitors wanting to see the “Sky Mirror.” 🔴 Prefer convenience and comfort: Choose hotels in Huangbu Town. Well-equipped with amenities and many dining options, but a 10-minute drive to the island and you won’t experience the island’s nighttime tranquility. 🚘【Transportation】 🔹 External transport: Driving is the best choice, about 2.5 hours from Guangzhou and 2 hours from Shenzhen. Navigate to “Salt Island” via the Salt Island Cross-Sea Bridge. 🔹 Island access: Take a boat from Huangbu Town Pier, tickets cost about 10-20 RMB per person, with a 15-minute ride. Check tide times and arrive early during peak season. 🔹 On-island transport: Renting an electric scooter is the most flexible, about 50 RMB/day in the off-season. Some roads are narrow and the Windmill Hill road is dirt, so an SUV is recommended. ⚠️【Tips to Avoid Pitfalls】 ▪️ Check tide tables: Before shellfish hunting at Heipaijiao or Wanzai Beach, check tides in advance (use the “Global Tide” app) to ensure safe play at low tide. ▪️ Sun and mosquito protection: Strong UV rays by the sea and many mosquitoes in mangroves—be sure to use sunscreen and bring mosquito repellent. ▪️ Reef safety: Heipaijiao reefs are sharp and slippery, wear thick-soled non-slip shoes to avoid cuts. ▪️ Cash preparation: Some small shops and boat tickets only accept cash, prepare 500-800 RMB in cash. ▪️ Seafood costs: Seafood stalls in scenic areas tend to overcharge; better to buy at Dutou Village market and have homestays process it (processing fee 10 RMB per jin). ▪️ Season choice: Best travel period is April to October; be cautious of typhoons in July and August; windy and cold from December to February. 💰【Budget Reference】(2 days 1 night, 400-700 RMB per person) · Transport: 150-300 RMB (fuel/rental) · Accommodation: 150-400 RMB/night (homestays) · Food: 100-150 RMB/day (seafood at your leisure) · Activities: Mostly free attractions, shellfish hunting gear rental 20 RMB, snorkeling 50 RMB per person Money-saving tip: Visit midweek off-peak! Homestay prices are halved, and buying seafood at the market is more cost-effective~ Fall in love with Salt Island like this~✨ Consider it for a weekend or short holiday trip Windmills, sea, egrets—so healing☁️ Not to mention all the fresh seafood!

Go to the city center to eat. 2. **Silverware, medicinal materials (maca, notoginseng):** Very tricky, don’t buy if you don’t know, especially silverware, many are not pure silver. 3. **So-called “romantic encounters”:** Many scams with drinks and meals, protect your wallet and personal safety. 4. **Shawls:** Sold for 30-50 RMB in the ancient town, but only 15-20 RMB at Zhongyi Market or Baisha, remember to bargain hard! 📝 Blogger’s summary Lijiang doesn’t need you to rush, it just needs you to **“waste time.”** Here, sunbathing, daydreaming, and watching the snow mountain are all serious business. 4000 RMB is enough for you to check in under Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, get lost in the alleys of the ancient town, and go home smelling of hot pot and sunshine. **Lijiang is meant for forgetting time, not chasing it.** 🌞🏔️ If you find this useful, remember to **like + save**, or you might not find your way to the snow mountain next time! ❤️

Smart travelers like us should navigate to the vicinity of Golden Mountain Reflection Lake 1, Lake 3, or Dongba Valley Lake 4. 📌 Practical tips ✅ Admission: Free admission for the entire trip! ✅ Road conditions: The Shaxi section has many curves; driving at night is not recommended. ✅ Parking: Cars are prohibited inside the ancient towns; park in the peripheral parking lots. ✅ Clothing: Large temperature difference between day and night; bring a light jacket, use sun protection, and wear flat shoes. ✅ Altitude: 2,400–2,600 m. Stepping into a different era at Baisha Ancient Town Tried a traditional Tibetan costume experience for just RMB180, including makeup, hairstyling & costume! We also engaged our own photographer for a 1-hour photoshoot around Baisha — and honestly, it was such a beautiful and memorable experience. Definitely one of my favourite experiences in Lijiang! #bucketlistdestinations #lijiang #chinatravel #travel #clairjourney #clairlifestyle #clairtravelling #baishaancienttown #traditionalcostume

Coming to Baisha specifically for photos, finding a photogenic place to stay is absolutely key. My friend and I kept saying: we hope the courtyard view is beautiful, so we can capture the snow-capped mountains just by looking up 🏔️ Staying at Daye Sanqiu, our photography needs were perfectly met 🥳 ✅ Snow-capped mountain courtyard photo spots ✅ Public tea room scenes ✅ Courtyard greenery landscapes ✅ Mountain wilderness backdrop ① The vegetation in the courtyard is layered, paired with the distant snow-capped mountains; no matter where you stand, the shots look high-quality. ② The lighting in the tea room area is soft, perfect for documenting snippets of your journey. ③ In the afternoon, sunlight spills into the courtyard, creating beautiful light and shadows. You can get plenty of great photos without traveling far. ④ You can walk to Baisha Ancient Town right from the doorstep, so you can also check out the cultural scenery of the ancient town while you're at it.

Second Night | Chunshan Snowfield Ranch Hotel, Baisha Ancient Town The biggest highlight is the expansive ranch and vibrant flower fields. Our favorite dog, Domi, was the one we loved most (I had a Saint Bernard during university, so he felt a special connection to the Bernese Mountains). The hotel service was incredibly warm; even though we drove ourselves, they still provided pick-up and drop-off service, which left a lasting impression on the three of us and made us want to return. My sister and I also went mushroom picking in the mountains, arranged by the hotel. Although we didn't end up eating there, the hiking experience was still quite enjoyable. I especially loved the Lao Wang Mountain Restaurant next door in Baisha; the taste and style were exactly what I wanted. During our meal, some young ladies came to perform a folk dance (they even asked if it would be a bother beforehand). The overall service was meticulous and thoughtful. When we were taking photos on the rooftop terrace, because my sister was wearing shorts, a young man ran up to give her a shawl and even said I didn't look like a mother 😄, which greatly increased our positive impression.

It's been a while, so picking up from the last post, I'm sharing some spots and tips from my trip to Lijiang, Yunnan, at the end of November. The following reflects my personal opinion only~ ✈️ Travel: First, this trip was scheduled for 4 days and 4 nights. Due to time constraints, I only chose Dali and Lijiang. My route was to go to Dali first, then Lijiang. I spent 1.5 days in Dali and 2 days in Lijiang, and the rest was mostly travel time... 🌤️ Weather: Checking the weather a month in advance for Lijiang isn't very accurate; it might only be accurate closer to the date. If you're planning to see the golden sunrise on the peaks, you must choose a clear day! Even though it was sunny on the day I went, it had been snowing and cloudy for the previous few days, so there was a lot of fog that morning and no golden sunrise on the peaks. 👚 Clothing: I went at the end of November. Lijiang is colder than Dali, and you need to wear a down jacket even during the day. ⛰️ Altitude: It depends a lot on your personal constitution. I didn't have altitude sickness in Dali or Lijiang; I only felt a bit short of breath when climbing stairs on the snow mountain. However, my husband started having altitude sickness at the Lijiang high-speed railway station. If you're planning to go up Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, be sure to prepare oxygen bottles in advance. You can just buy regular ones at a pharmacy; there's no difference in breathing them. 🏠 Accommodation: In Lijiang, most people stay in one of the three major ancient towns. Because our itinerary involved going to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the morning, we chose Baisha Ancient Town, which is closest to the snow mountain. Baisha Ancient Town feels like it's expanding rapidly; there are homestays under construction all along the way, and you might hear sand trucks passing by at night. Lijiang Old Town has a better environment, but you do have to walk on stone paths and do a lot of walking. 🚗 It's easier to hail a ride in Lijiang than in Dali. You can get a car anytime on Didi. Even at 5:00 AM in Baisha, we were able to get a ride quickly. You don't actually need to take the public bus as suggested in some guides. When returning from the snow mountain, I saw many people queuing for the bus, but it's actually very convenient to hail a ride after you come out. 🌺 I only visited Baisha and Lijiang Old Town. In Baisha, you can see the snow mountain if the weather is good. Baisha also has some popular photo spots. I went to Jianshan Courtyard, but it wasn't as nice as the pictures online, and the drinks and cakes weren't very good either. There are few places to take photos, and it's very weather-dependent. I highly recommend Lijiang Old Town; the environment is truly beautiful, and there are bonfire parties in the evening, but it's also really crowded. If you go to Lijiang Old Town, I highly recommend Zhazha Rice Noodles; the portions are large and they are delicious. The grilled milk fan tastes like cheese; it wasn't that great. 🏔️ Jade Dragon Snow Mountain: You need to grab cable car tickets in advance, and you need to pay an entry fee to enter the mountain (local drivers don't need to). There are many places to see the golden sunrise on the peaks. I chose Ganhaizi, where the reflection in the lake is quite beautiful. After seeing the golden sunrise on the peaks, you can head to the visitor center to prepare for the cable car. You can choose to take the cable car to Spruce Meadow first, and then go to Blue Moon Valley in the afternoon when the light is softer; it will look better for photos.

I've dug up a rice noodle shop with a massive contrast: Baisha Po Dian (Baisha Broken Shop) · Roasted Meat Rice Noodles. Located near the South Gate, it's no exaggeration to say it's the most "dilapidated" looking shop in Baisha. Tucked away in a century-old Naxi house in an old alley, it has no fancy decor—just simple wooden beams and earthen walls. It's quiet and relaxed, allowing you to enjoy the slow pace of the ancient town all to yourself. It's not noisy at all, making it super comfortable to duck in and rest your feet after a long walk. My first encounter was a total accident! I had just come down from Jade Dragon Snow Mountain that day. It was evening, pouring rain, and the temperature had plummeted. The cold wind had me shivering, and I stumbled upon this little shop while walking aimlessly. The owner saw me shivering at a glance and, before I even ordered, brought over a large bowl of piping hot bone broth to help me warm up. Instantly, all the fatigue from climbing the mountain vanished, and I was completely won over. I came back for a second visit the next day and completely fell in love with their roasted meat rice noodles. The portions are huge, the value is incredible, and you can eat your fill at an affordable price. The tangy, appetizing broth is refreshing and cuts through the grease in the summer—the more you slurp, the more hooked you get. Rice noodles are free to refill, so big eaters and hungry travelers have nothing to worry about. The roasted meat is charred and flavorful, and paired with the sour soup, the texture is incredibly rich. The owner is exceptionally honest and gentle. He carefully gives tourists tips on how to explore Baisha, explaining niche routes and places to avoid. If you don't know how to get around Baisha, just ask him—no sales pitches, no tricks, just rare sincerity. The old house environment is quiet and not noisy. Whether you're hiding from the rain or resting your feet on a sunny day, it's perfect. A bowl of hot soup paired with tangy rice noodles is just the right way to recharge after exploring the Snow Mountain.

📍 Baisha, Lijiang | Yunnan Sometimes you head to the mountains seeking snowy peaks, only to be met with rain, fog, and clouds. And unexpectedly, you realize—this might be even better. 🏔️ On a clear day, the hotel offers stunning views of the snow-capped mountains. But when the peaks vanish behind the clouds, there’s nothing left to do but sit on the balcony, watch the sky, and listen to the rain. 🌿 Everything here is about the "slow life": 🐎 A wooden horse on the lawn 🔥 Firewood by the fireplace 🌱 A lush green courtyard 🐕 Walking the dog 🪟 A balcony overlooking the mountains ☕ Time that finally slows down In the evening, as the clouds descend upon the mountains, an incredible stillness takes over. 📍 Baisha reveals a completely different side of Lijiang. While the ancient town buzzes with tourists, cafes, and shops, the rhythm changes completely once you reach the outskirts of the village. Here, you can wake up, open your balcony door, and realize that your only task for the day is simply to watch the mountains. ✨ Perhaps that’s why they say Baisha is where time slows down. And sometimes, a snowy peak draped in clouds is even more beautiful than one under a clear blue sky.

Traveling with kids, I really don't want to rush between attractions. Sleep in, take it easy when tired, and head wherever it's less crowded. An 8-day, 7-night slow-paced trip, and the experience was great. Day 1 ✈️ Fly from Shenzhen to Lijiang. Renting a car in advance is a game changer; picking it up at the airport is super convenient. Didn't dive straight into the crowds in Dali; our first stop was Baisha Ancient Town. We mostly got around on e-scooters here. It costs a few dozen yuan to ride for half a day, which is very convenient for exploring the town. Took the kid to Hutuwo Ranch to feed the lambs. It's 10 yuan for a basket of veggies. The lambs chased the kid around, and they had a blast. The scenery is average, but as long as the kid is happy, that's enough. Stumbled upon Yundi'an in the evening; just buy a coffee to enter. I personally love this place! The grounds are open and clean, and the kid can run wild. Definitely come in the evening—around 20°C with a breeze, it's relaxing and great for photos. The UV rays are too strong during the day. Day 2: Continued wandering around Baisha. The ancient town isn't big, and there's an old street nearby. No need to obsess over navigation; just wandering through the alleys often leads to little surprises. Took the kid to try pea pod handicrafts—quietly doing some DIY. In the afternoon, rode the e-scooter around Lijiang Ancient Town and found a coffee shop to rest and have some cake. In the evening, visited Zhongyi Market. Lots of fruits I'd never seen before, and it's full of local life. It's just that there are a lot of cars at night, so we parked a bit further away and walked over. Day 3: A very fortunate choice for this trip. For summer vacation, we skipped the crowded Shuanglang and Xizhou and came straight to Wenbi Village. Stopped along the way; the fruit sold by local farmers on the roadside was sweet and affordable. The ancient towns on the west side of the sea are great for sunsets, but the east side has wider views and fewer people. With a kid, I prefer the east side. The homestay we stayed at was very quiet, avoiding the traffic jams of the main crowds. In the afternoon, went to Red Stone Coffee. Took the sightseeing bus to the top of the mountain so we didn't have to hike up. Sat and waited for the Erhai Lake sunset; the scenery was so healing. At night, after the kid fell asleep, had a barbecue on the terrace with my partner. With the evening breeze blowing, this is what a vacation is all about. Day 4: Drove for over 1 hour to Shaxi, a place I absolutely love. Rice paddies everywhere, quiet and peaceful, no noise. The Yunnan sun is too intense, so we went back to the homestay for a nap at noon and didn't head out again until 4 or 5 PM when the sun was weaker. Rode the e-scooter around the village and rice paddies, sat at a rice paddy coffee shop, and told the kid a bit about rice paddies. Shaxi at sunset has such a great vibe. Day 5–6: Stayed in Shuhe. Didn't go to any paid attractions. Went to the fishing village at Lashihai, a free wetland corridor where you can see horses. It's perfect for a quiet outing with the kid. Took the kid to try tie-dyeing. Making things by hand gave the kid a great sense of accomplishment. Ran into a rain shower and even saw a double rainbow—a little surprise on the trip. Day 7–8: Spent the last two days exploring Lijiang Ancient Town and the night market. Ate some delicious stir-fried rice noodles and bought a few small souvenirs, whiling away the time slowly. On the eighth day, after lunch, visited a coffee shop on the hilltop before heading to the airport for the return trip. 8 days and 7 nights, not rushing the schedule, not trying to check off every single spot. Family travel doesn't have to mean running to every single place; slowing down to spend time together is what's truly precious. Looking forward to next year's family trip 🥰

The three-dimensional artistic presentation of the Li traditional spinning, dyeing, weaving, and embroidery techniques displayed in the Hainan Binglanggu Li and Miao cultural tourism area is based on the core crafts listed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. These techniques can be divided into four main processes: spinning, dyeing, weaving, and embroidery, which are artistically recreated through modern colored sculptures or reliefs. The Li traditional spinning, dyeing, weaving, and embroidery techniques are a national intangible cultural heritage passed down through generations of Hainan Li women. In 2009, they were included in UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding and were successfully transferred to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2024. This precious cultural treasure covers the four core processes of spinning, dyeing, weaving, and embroidery, using natural fibers such as kapok and wild hemp as raw materials to create Li brocade, known as the “living fossil of China’s cotton textile history.” Craft system and core features · Spinning: Using hand-twisting spindles and foot-operated spinning wheels, cotton or hemp fibers are cleaned, drawn out, and wound onto spools to produce fine, even yarn. · Dyeing: Plant-based dyes are used (such as sappanwood for red, ebony bark for black, gumu leaves for green, and turmeric for yellow). The unique ikat dyeing technique involves tying patterns on the warp threads before dyeing, then precisely aligning them with the weft threads during weaving to create complex geometric patterns. · Weaving: Using a waist-treadle loom, the weaver sits on the ground and controls the warp tension with their waist. The left hand holds the warp separator stick, and the right hand uses a wooden knife to beat the weft. Weaving is done from memory, “painting in the mind and creating with the hands,” producing intricate jacquard patterns without a pattern guide. · Embroidery: Divided into single-sided and double-sided embroidery, the double-sided embroidery from the Baisha Run dialect area is famous for its “identical front and back patterns.” The fine stitching combines human figures, animals, plants, and geometric motifs symbolizing ancestral migration, nature worship, and life blessings. Cultural value and social significance Li brocade is not only a material for clothing but also serves as a “history book” in the Li’s non-literate society. Its patterns carry historical memories, religious beliefs, and ethnic identity. For example, the “Great Power God pattern” symbolizes creation myths, the “Gan Gong bird pattern” represents faithful love, and the “dragon quilt” is the pinnacle of spinning, dyeing, weaving, and embroidery combined, once offered as tribute to the imperial court. This craft led the Central Plains since the Song and Yuan dynasties. Huang Daopo traveled to Hainan to learn it and introduced it to Jiangnan, promoting the development of China’s cotton textile industry. Today, through intangible heritage workshops, fashion shows, and international exchanges, Li brocade is evolving from traditional handicraft to a fashionable, youthful, and international art form, becoming an important carrier of rural revitalization and cultural confidence.

I've been to Lijiang many times, and finally, I spent an afternoon making a cute tile cat! The tile cat is part of the Naxi people's intangible cultural heritage. Locals believe that when it guards the roof ridge, it can swallow gold and bring good fortune. The atmosphere in this shop is great; you can drink coffee while looking at the snow mountain, and I suddenly felt like making a tile cat for myself. The teacher helped prepare the clay mold, and the guidance was very detailed, so it went smoothly even with zero crafting experience. The teacher also shared folk stories of Lijiang and knowledge about how the Yunnan Art School preserves this craft, and before I knew it, I had finished making it. In the past, I just did quick sightseeing, but this time I deeply experienced the life and culture of Yunnan, and I love it even more. Yunnan, Lijiang, Baisha—I will keep coming back.

Deep in the foothills of Limu Mountain in Baisha, far from the bustling rainforest tourist routes, Daola Li Village rests peacefully between rubber plantations and terraced fields. Untouched by outside commercial development, its humble cottages are scattered among the trees. Mountain springs nourish the layered fields, while cooking smoke gently drifts up toward the peaks at dawn and dusk. After a leisurely stroll through the countryside, stepping into a rustic Li family eatery offers a simple yet delightful experience. A plate of charcoal-grilled wild boar, paired with stir-fried wild greens, and followed by a cup of local Shanlan flower tea—the dishes are unpretentious, relying entirely on the natural flavors of native ingredients to captivate your palate. As we navigate through life, desires often multiply endlessly. We become accustomed to chasing luxurious feasts and spectacular sights, always fixing our gaze on what we do not yet possess, caught in a relentless pursuit that is hard to stop. Yet, true tranquility never requires elaborate packaging. A simple countryside meal and a quiet mountain landscape are more than enough to soothe a weary body and soul. Wandering along the field ridges and gazing at the rolling hills in the distance, you can slowly let go of endless cravings and truly appreciate the beauty that is right in front of you. As the setting sun bathes the terraced fields in pale gold, your mind suddenly clears. You realize that inner peace does not depend on abundant possessions. Only by learning to embrace a simple, everyday life can you find lasting serenity. Let us brew fresh tea over a newly lit fire, and enjoy poetry and wine while we are still in our prime.

Deep within the foothills of Baisha Limu Mountain, far from the main rainforest tourist routes, Nanmei Creek meanders through pristine tropical rainforest. Towering ancient trees shade the sky, vines intertwine, clear springs converge into shallow pools, and the creek's water is cool and crystal clear. The entire valley is virtually untouched by commercial development, with only trails worn by locals. After a leisurely hike along the creek, find a riverside farmhouse shop, where a pot of fragrant herb-stirred duck, paired with stir-fried wild vegetables, and a cup of native wild orchid tea afterward, will soothe the fatigue of the hike. In the fast-paced daily life, with interpersonal conflicts and work pressure piling up, we often tense our minds, constantly maintaining a composed state, slowly forgetting what relaxation feels like. Many journeys are still filled with anxiety, busy taking photos, busy rushing, unable to unload the burdens in our hearts. This secluded valley isolates us from the outside world; the babbling brook and the gentle sounds of the forest soothe the turmoil in our hearts. There's no need to force yourself to maintain a perfect state; allow your mind to relax and freely immerse yourself in the mountains and the delicious food. The setting sun casts its rays through the branches onto the stream. As we begin our return journey, I long to escape the hustle and bustle, to rediscover a long-lost sense of relaxation amidst the rustic charm of mountain life. Let us brew new tea with newly kindled fire, and enjoy poetry and wine while we are young. #NewYearDestinations2026 #travel2026

Deep within the foothills of Baisha Limu Mountain, a leisurely drive along the winding mountain roads leads to Daobu Li Village, nestled peacefully between rainforest and terraced fields. Far from the main tourist routes of the central rainforest, this place lacks converted guesthouses and creative stalls. Traditional earthen houses are scattered among coconut palms and wild bamboo groves, while mountain springs flow through the village via stone channels, nourishing the cascading paddy fields. For generations, the Li people have cultivated the mountains and forests, planting rice in spring and harvesting in autumn. In their leisure time, they weave Li brocade and craft bamboo crafts. At dawn and dusk, wisps of smoke rise slowly towards the mountains, the air mingling with the subtle fragrance of rice and tropical vegetation. After visiting many scenic spots, one understands that people constantly rush to distant places in search of a home, always believing that stability lies in faraway lands. Yet, despite their wandering and drifting, their hearts remain adrift and without anchor. We constantly seek solace externally, yearning for a place to shelter our weariness, often forgetting that peace of mind is not dependent on location, but on one's own state of mind. Daobu Village may not boast breathtaking scenery, but it demonstrates, through its unhurried rural daily life, what it means to live in harmony with the land. Sitting idly on the edge of a paddy field, gazing at the rainforest, listening to the wind rustling through the banana groves, I let go of the anxieties of my journey. There's no need to desperately search for a distant paradise; if the soul has a place to rest, anywhere can be a haven. The setting sun bathes the terraced fields in a pale gold. Slowly leaving the village, my thoughts become clearer: true home is always the moment the soul finds rest. Let's brew new tea with newly kindled fire, enjoying poetry and wine while we're young. #NewYearDestinations2026 #travel2026
