Budva travel guide and discussion

If you're in Budva for the first time, be sure to visit these places: 🌊 1. Embankment Start your walk from the sea – stroll along the embankment, admiring the yachts, beaches, and mountains. It's especially pleasant in the late afternoon. 🏰 2. Old Town Go inside the fortress walls and simply stroll along the narrow stone streets. It has a completely different atmosphere: stone houses, small squares, and beautiful details at every turn. 🩰 3. Ballerina Monument One of Budva's most famous photo spots is located right by the sea on a cliff. It offers a beautiful view of the Old Town – definitely worth adding to your itinerary. ⛰️ 4. View of Budva from Above For a panoramic view, I recommend climbing above the Old Town. From above, the sea, the fortress walls, and St. Nicholas Island are especially beautiful. 💡 My advice: if possible, plan this walk closer to sunset—that's when Budva is especially beautiful, and the route is most atmospheric. 📍Budva, Montenegro. #budvaoldtown #montenegrotravel

How to spend a perfect day in Budva 👇 After exploring the mountainous region of Montenegro, we returned to the coast and arrived in Budva. The vibe here is completely different: the Adriatic Sea, sandy beaches, fortress walls, and an Old Town that sits right at the water’s edge 🌊 🏰 I would make Budva’s Old Town the highlight of your visit. It’s quite small, so the best way to explore is to simply wander through the stone-paved streets, duck into narrow alleys, and catch occasional views of the sea. ⛪️ Located within the Old Town are the Church of St. John, the Holy Trinity Church, and Santa Maria in Punta. All these landmarks are very close to one another. 🏯 The Citadel is situated in the southern part of the Old Town. Its walls offer stunning panoramic views of Budva’s red-tiled roofs, the sea, and the coastline. 🌊 After visiting the Old Town, take a walk along the waterfront. Budva is quite compact, so you can easily combine the historic district and the shoreline in one stroll. 📍 If you have a car, I highly recommend adding Sveti Stefan to your itinerary for the same day. It’s one of the most iconic views in all of Montenegro and is just a short drive from Budva. To me, Budva felt entirely different from Kotor. While Kotor is nestled tightly between mountains and the bay, here you really feel the open Adriatic, the beaches, and the vibrant resort life. One day is plenty for a first visit, especially if you dedicate most of your time to the Old Town and head to Sveti Stefan in the late afternoon 🤍 📌 Save this for your trip. I’m sharing more Montenegro and Balkan travel itineraries on my profile 🇲🇪

Why Montenegro, and why NOW? Montenegro just recorded its strongest July in history — 623,104 tourist arrivals and 3,717,441 overnight stays, up 11.26% and 10.13% respectively over last year. In the first seven months of 2026, the country welcomed 1.62 million tourists — a 7.78% jump year-on-year. BBC Travel recently called it “Croatia, but cheaper” — and they’re right. An eight-day family adventure here costs roughly £1,825 per person, while the same trip in Croatia would set you back far more. This is the Adriatic’s last great value destination. Save this. You’ll use it. 🚌 TRANSPORT: The €2 Ride That Beats Every Taxi The mistake starts at Tivat or Podgorica airport. Private transfers to Kotor quote €30–50. The local bus costs €2–4 and drops you in the center. For coastal hops — Kotor to Budva, Budva to Herceg Novi — Blue Line and Jadran Express buses run frequently and cost €3–6. Buy tickets at the station or pay the driver in cash. The Kotor–Perast hack. The local bus from Kotor to Perast costs €2 and takes 20 minutes. A taxi will charge €20–25 for the same ride. The bus stops right at the waterfront. The ferry truth. The Kamenari–Lepetane ferry across the Bay of Kotor is free for pedestrians and costs a few euros for cars. It runs every 15 minutes and saves you a 45-minute detour around the bay. 🍲 FOOD: The €3 Plate That Beats Every Restaurant Montenegrin food is not fancy. It’s Njeguški pršut (dry-cured ham from the mountain village of Njeguš), kacamak (a rich porridge of potatoes, flour, cream, and cheese), and priganice — fried dough balls served with honey or cheese. The mistake most visitors make is eating on the waterfront. Walk two streets inland and the prices drop by half. The konoba rule. The best food in Montenegro is served at konobas — traditional taverns with handwritten menus and wooden tables. A full meal at a local konoba costs €8–15. On the Kotor waterfront, the same dish costs €18–25. Look for the spot with locals, not tourists. Must-try, ranked: · Njeguški pršut — the king of Montenegrin charcuterie. Smoky, salty, sublime. €5–8 for a plate. · Kacamak — the national comfort food. Potatoes, flour, kajmak (clotted cream), and cheese. €6–10. · Crni rižot — black cuttlefish risotto. Rich, briny, unforgettable. €10–15. · Buzara — shellfish (mussels, clams, or shrimp) in a white wine and garlic sauce. €12–18. · Priganice — fried dough balls with honey, cheese, or jam. €3–5. The ultimate snack. The rakija rule. Rakija (fruit brandy) is offered everywhere — before meals, after meals, and any time in between. If someone offers you a glass, accept it. It’s hospitality, not a sales pitch. You are not obligated to finish it. 🗺️ HIDDEN MONTENEGRO: 3 Places Tourists Miss 1. Rose (Luštica Peninsula) — Tucked at the far western tip of the Luštica Peninsula, just 2 km from the Croatian border, this hidden village feels like a time capsule. There are no cars — only stone houses, a small harbor, and the Rakite Tunnel, a secret Yugoslav-era submarine bunker carved 100 meters into the hillside. Reach it by water taxi from Herceg Novi (about €5–10) or a winding coastal road. Most visitors never make it here. 2. Rijeka Crnojevića & Pavlova Strana — A cinematic riverside village on the edge of Lake Skadar, with ancient stone bridges and a slow, untamed beauty. Just 10 minutes up a winding road is Pavlova Strana — one of the most photographed viewpoints in Montenegro, where the river makes a perfect horseshoe bend. Go at sunrise. You’ll have it to yourself. 3. Zminje Lake (Durmitor) — While everyone crowds Black Lake (Crno Jezero) in Durmitor National Park, locals hike 45 minutes further to Zminje Lake — a hidden glacial lake at 1,520 meters with water the color of emeralds. No crowds. No noise. Just silence and stone. 💰 BUDGET REALITY CHECK Montenegro is genuinely affordable — if you eat at konobas and sleep in guesthouses. · Budget traveler: $40–55 per day — hostel dorms, local buses, street food. · Mid-range traveler: $80–120 per day — private rooms, restaurant meals, occasional taxis. · Hostel dorm: €15–25 per night. · Guesthouse (private room): €30–60 per night. · Konoba meal: €8–15. · Waterfront restaurant meal: €18–30. · Local bus (Kotor–Budva): €3–6. · Water taxi (Herceg Novi–Rose): €5–10. Realistic daily budget: 55 with konobas, hostels, and local buses. Mid-range travelers spend around $100 with private rooms and waterfront dinners. Free things that are genuinely excellent: Hiking the Kotor City Walls costs €15 for the full fortress, but the views from the lower sections are free. The Kamenari–Lepetane ferry is free for pedestrians. Pavlova Strana viewpoint is free — just drive there. And the simple pleasure of sitting on the Budva waterfront with a plate of priganice and a glass of rakija — that’s free. 🙏 ETIQUETTE: 4 Unspoken Rules That Matter Montenegro runs on warmth, hospitality, and respect. These aren’t tourist rules — they’re how the country works. 1. Greet everyone with a handshake. When entering a home, restaurant, or shop, shake hands with everyone present. Between women, a kiss on the cheek is common. Greetings matter — rushing past them is considered rude. 2. Don’t refuse food or drink abruptly. If someone offers you rakija, pršut, or a seat at their table, accept at least a small portion. Refusing outright is seen as impolite. A soft “no” — “Hvala, ali ne mogu” (Thanks, but I can’t) — is better than a blunt one. 3. Dress modestly at churches and religious sites. Shoulders and knees covered. Remove your shoes where required. Montenegro is multi-faith — Orthodox, Catholic, and Muslim traditions coexist — and respect for all is universal. 4. Carry cash for small purchases. Many konobas, bakeries, and small shops don’t accept cards. ATMs are available in larger towns, but rural areas run on cash. €50–100 in small bills will cover you for days. 💾 SAVE THIS POST IF: · You’re planning Montenegro in 2026 — it’s Europe’s last great Adriatic value destination. · You want to eat at konobas, not waterfront tourist traps. · You believe the best travel intel comes from real experience, not recycled top-10 lists. Drop a 🇲🇪 in the comments if Montenegro is on your 2026 list — and follow for the Bosnia & Herzegovina deep-dive next. #Montenegro2026 #MontenegroTravel #HiddenMontenegro #TripMoments #TripCoins #TravelHacks #BudgetTravelMontenegroro #MontenegroGuide #MontenegrinFood #NjeguskiPrsut #RoseMontenegro #RijekaCrnojevica #MontenegroOnABudget #TripCom

Europe has plenty of famous destinations, but some of my favorite trips were to countries that rarely get the same attention as France, Italy, or Switzerland. These three genuinely surprised me. Slovenia was my first pick. I loved wandering around Ljubljana, with its riverside cafés and relaxed atmosphere, but the real highlight was Lake Bled. I also made time for Lake Bohinj, which felt quieter and more natural. Then came Albania. Tirana was lively and unexpectedly fun, but I enjoyed the coast even more. Berat, with its white Ottoman-era houses climbing the hillside, was one of the most memorable stops of the trip. My third choice is Montenegro. I spent time exploring Kotor, where dramatic mountains surround the bay, then drove along the coast toward Budva. The scenery alone made the journey worthwhile. What I liked about these countries was the sense of discovery. I didn’t feel like I was following a checklist of famous European attractions. There were quiet streets, local restaurants, scenic drives, and plenty of moments where I simply stopped and looked around. If you want Europe with fewer crowds and a little more adventure, I’d start here. #slovenia #montenegrotravel #albania

If you find yourself in Montenegro, here's a ready-made route for a whole day that we walked ourselves and highly recommend. Budva's Old Town, its citadel and the long, long seaside promenade all the way to Kamenovo Beach. Beautiful, unhurried and perfect for spending a day as a family or a couple. Let me take it in order. 🏛️ The Old Town and the citadel We started, like everyone, with Budva's Old Town. It's a compact labyrinth of stone streets surrounded by fortress walls right by the sea. Atmospheric, picturesque, and worth a visit for its own sake. The heart of the Old Town is the citadel, an old fortress with several centuries of history. Entry is paid, 6 euros per person, including for a child over 7. Inside there's a large hall with a library, rare books behind glass, a small maritime museum and, of course, a viewing platform with views over the tiled rooftops, the sea and the island of Saint Nicholas. I'll be honest: we expected to be able to spend a bit longer walking around inside, it being a paid place and all. In fact the citadel is fairly compact, and you get round it quicker than you'd reckon. But the views and the very atmosphere of the ancient walls are worth it, so treat it more as a beautiful stop at the start of the route than as a separate hour-long adventure. 🌊 The promenade, this is where the magic begins And then comes the best part, the long coastal promenade. From the Old Town we set off along the sea and just didn't stop: through Bečići, then Rafailovići and all the way to Kamenovo Beach. It's a very scenic route: the sea on one side, cafes, little restaurants and greenery on the other. Part of the way is a wide paved promenade, and closer to Kamenovo it turns into a narrower path, in places cut right into the rock. The views change at every turn, no time to get bored. Kamenovo Beach is a pleasant finishing point: pebbly, clean, with a calmer atmosphere than Budva's urban beaches. By the way, your route can be built in the opposite direction too, but then the sun will be in your face the whole way, which isn't very comfortable. ☕ How it went for us in terms of time To give you a sense of the scale of the walk: we arrived at the Old Town by midday, and only reached Kamenovo by 5 in the evening. And that's not because we walked slowly, but because it's a full day of pleasure. Along the way we hurried nowhere: we had coffee in cafes, ate dessert, even had a proper lunch with a sea view. The ideal format, when a walk isn't about the goal of getting from point A to point B, but is a rest in itself. 💡 Good to know 🔹 We were there in mid-April, and it's a great time: not hot yet, comfortable to walk, and no summer crowds. In summer this route will be more crowded and much hotter. 🔹 Set aside the whole day and comfortable shoes, the path is long but pleasant. 🔹 Bring money with you, both for the citadel and for coffee and lunch along the way. Montenegro isn't cheap. 💭 The verdict This route, the Old Town with the citadel plus the promenade to Kamenovo, I confidently add to the list of things you simply must do in Montenegro. It's everything at once: history, sea, views, good food and that unhurried holiday atmosphere. Highly recommend. Do you love long seaside walks like this that take a whole day? Or do you prefer short trips out to specific spots? Share in the comments 😊 #bucketlistdestinations #budva #montenegro

Imagine a tiny stone island connected to the mainland by a narrow sandy isthmus. White walls of a medieval fortress rise straight from the turquoise waters of the Adriatic, and at the top — an old church that has been watching the sea for almost 600 years. This is Sveti Stefan — the symbol of Montenegro you've definitely seen on postcards but didn't know was real. 🧩Practical Tips · How to get there: From Tivat or Podgorica airports about 30–40 km. From Budva — bus for €2 or taxi (~€20). · Best time: May–June or September–October — warm weather and fewer crowds. · Budget hack: If you want to step onto the island without spending €1,000 on a room, book a table at the Aman restaurant — it grants access to the grounds. Legend and History 📜 In the 15th century, a fortified fishing village stood here, protecting locals from pirates. In the 1950s, the last residents left, and the island was transformed into an exclusive hotel for the global elite. Guests included Elizabeth II, Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, Sylvester Stallone, and even Yuri Gagarin. The place became a true legend of the Adriatic. 🧩What's there now and how to get inside? Since 2009, the island has been managed by Aman Resorts, and after renovation, it reopened on 1 July 2026. The main rule to know in advance: you can only set foot on the island if you're a hotel guest, restaurant visitor, or part of a special guided tour. Walking along the cobbled streets and courtyards is a privilege reserved for those ready to pay for this fairytale from €800 per night. But even if you're not staying on the island, you can still see this beauty and feel its atmosphere: · Walk along the isthmus right up to the island gates and take that iconic shot. · Spend the day at the main town beach with pink pebbles right in front of the island — entry is free. · Climb up to the Church of St. Sava on the hill — the best view of the island and the bay, especially beautiful at sunset.

BUDVA ♥️ A SUNNY CITY ON THE ADRIATIC COAST 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴 🏖️ Budva: Even the photos look like postcards here 📸 I've visited around 15 countries across the globe, but this place completely captured my heart ♥️ Budva is the perfect mix of ancient history and the sea: 🏰 The Old Town, with its fortress walls and cozy streets, where every stone breathes history. 🌊 Beaches with crystal-clear turquoise waters — from the bustling Mogren to the secluded Jaz. ☀️ An atmosphere where you just want to forget the time and enjoy the moment. Whether you want a lazy beach getaway or a stroll through medieval quarters — Budva has it all! 😍 And the seafood pasta there is absolutely delicious ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

You’re climbing the ancient stone steps of St. John's Fortress in Kotor—there are nearly 1,500 of them here. Your heart is pounding, you're trying to catch your breath, and then you see it: the Bay of Kotor, looking like a Norwegian fjord, but with palm trees and the warm Adriatic sun. And you just freeze. Because beauty like this doesn't need words. What you absolutely can't miss: 🏰 Kotor — a Venetian labyrinth where every stone breathes history. First mentioned in the 1st century AD as Ascrivium, this city has been ruled by Romans, Byzantines, Bulgarians, Serbs, Venetians (for nearly four centuries!), and Austro-Hungarians. Hike up to the fortress at dawn—the city is still asleep, and you'll have the breathtaking view of the bay all to yourself. Plus, Kotor is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the only place of its kind in Montenegro. 🏝️ Perast — a picturesque, movie-set of a town with 16 palaces for just 400 residents. Hop on a boat to the island of Our Lady of the Rocks (Gospa od Škrpjela)—a man-made islet created by fishermen as a tribute to the Virgin Mary. Just picture it: they spent centuries dropping rocks into the sea to build it. 🌅 Sveti Stefan — the ultimate postcard-perfect island. Back in the 15th century, it was a fishing village built with fortress walls to fend off pirates. In the 1950s, the locals were relocated, and the island was transformed into one of the world’s most exclusive resorts, hosting stars like Yuri Gagarin and Sophia Loren. White cottages, red terracotta roofs, and golden sunsets—it's easy to see why everyone wants to take this view home. 🌲 Durmitor — a completely different side of Montenegro. Picture the glacial Black Lake surrounded by pine forests, and the Tara River Canyon, plunging 1,300 meters deep—the second deepest in the world right after the Grand Canyon. The river gets its name from the ancient Illyrian Autariatae tribe. The soaring 172-meter-high Đurđevića Tara Bridge, built in 1937, was once the only thread tying the country's north and south together. Whitewater rafting on these turquoise waters will give you an adrenaline rush to last a whole year. 🕌 Ostrog — a dazzling white monastery carved straight into a sheer cliff face at an altitude of nearly 900 meters. Founded in 1665 by Archbishop Vasilije Jovanović on the site of ancient caves once inhabited by hermit monks, it houses the relics of St. Basil of Ostrog. It's the kind of place that makes even a non-believer stop and stare up in awe. 🌤️ As for the weather, Montenegro is a year-round delight. Winters on the coast are mild (rarely dropping below +11°C), and snow is extremely rare. Summers are dry and comfortable, maxing out around +29°C, with the sea warming up to a balmy +25°C. From June to September, even the nights are comfortably warm. Beach season runs from mid-May to early October. Meanwhile, winter in the mountains is a veritable fairytale—snow piles up to the roofs, making for perfect skiing. Two totally different climates in one country—talk about magic! Montenegro is a morning dip in the Adriatic, a lunch of fresh mussels in Perast, and an evening sipping a glass of Vranac wine in the mountains of Žabljak. And in between all that? Rakija, the warm smiles of the locals, and the scent of pine needles mingling with the salty sea breeze.

There's a small town on the coast of Montenegro that doesn't make noise across the whole Adriatic shore like Budva or Kotor, but is, of course, fairly well-known too. It's Petrovac. We came here as a family in July, during the day, and had a wonderful, unhurried walk. Let me tell you how we saw it. 🌊 The promenade We started, like everyone, with the promenade. It stretches along the town beach and sets the mood right away, very calm, resort-like, without any fuss. Along it are cafes, restaurants, old houses with the characteristic coastal architecture. To the left the cleanest sea, to the right greenery and mountains, and this combination of trees, water and mountains in a single frame is simply delightful. What pleasantly surprised us for July, the height of the season, was how few tourists there were. After the noisy resorts, especially Budva, it feels like freedom, you can walk in peace, no one jostling you, and there's room for the child to run around. 🏰 The Castello fortress It stands right at the edge of the town, on a rise by the sea, and serves as its main symbol. It used to be a Venetian fortress, and now there's a museum inside. But the main thing here isn't even the walls, it's the view that opens up from them. All of Petrovac in the palm of your hand, and in the distance two small islets are visible out at sea. The edge of the fortress, the clear turquoise sea below, the green slopes all around, it's one of those places where you just stand and look, with no wish to hurry anywhere. 🏚️ The abandoned hotel We also walked as far as the abandoned hotel. This, by the way, is a characteristic feature of Montenegro: unfinished or abandoned buildings that investment simply never reached. On one hand it's a sad sign, on the other, a place like that has an atmosphere of its own, a little melancholic but picturesque. The child was curious, and honestly, so were we, there's something magnetic about those empty walls with a view of the sea. The water there is clear, of ideal purity, the beach is pebble. The path to it goes through a tunnel in the mountain, which also adds atmosphere to the walk. 💭 Overall impression Petrovac won us over precisely with its calm. There are no parties and clubs at every turn here, only slow rest, beautiful views and the feeling that you're in a real place, not one polished up for tourists. Ideal for a family with a child, everything's safe, unhurried, beautiful. If you're in Montenegro and feel like quiet instead of resort bustle, drop into Petrovac at least for a day. We left with a wonderful sense of peace. 💡 A few tips A few practical points that'll make the walk more pleasant: 🕐 When to go. We walked during the day, but in July the sun is harsh and there's not much shade on the promenade. It's ideal to head out closer to evening, towards sunset, when the heat eases and the views become even more beautiful. During the day, bring a hat and water. 👟 Footwear. The climb up to the fortress goes uphill over stone, and flip-flops aren't very comfortable for it. Better something sturdier on your feet, especially if you're with a child. 🚗 Getting there. Petrovac is small, and it's convenient to combine it with a trip from Budva, they're close by. You can make a day outing by taxi or car, you don't have to stay here specifically to get a feel for the place. 🏖️ Beaches. Besides the town beach, there's a more secluded bay nearby, Lucice, if you fancy a swim away from the main promenade. 🍽️ Food. There are lots of little fish restaurants along the promenade. Montenegro is fairly pricey overall, so factor that into your budget. Do you visit quiet places like this on your travels, or do you prefer lively resorts more? Share in the comments 😊 #montenegrotravel #petrovac #travel

🏛️ Budva Old Town: A Medieval Labyrinth by the Sea Budva's Old Town (Stari Grad) is the historic heart of the Montenegrin resort capital, located on a small peninsula and surrounded by mighty fortified walls. With over 2,500 years of history, it is considered one of the jewels of the Adriatic coast. 🗺️ What to See Fortress Walls and Citadel The 450-meter-long walls were built by the Venetians in the 15th century to protect against Turkish raids. The Citadel (Kaštel) is the highest point in the city, founded in the 9th century. Today, it houses a museum, a library, and an observation deck with panoramic views of the Budva Riviera. Entrance to the Citadel costs approximately 6 euros. Church Square Three churches of different eras and denominations coexist in one square: The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist (7th century) is the oldest Catholic church, its bell tower visible from anywhere in the city. Inside is the miraculous icon of Our Lady of Budva. The Church of the Holy Trinity (1804) is an Orthodox church in the Byzantine style with a beautiful iconostasis. The Church of Santa Maria in Punta (840) is the oldest church built into the defensive wall. The Archaeological Museum Housed in a four-story building in the Old Town, its collection includes artifacts from antiquity to the Middle Ages, including Roman mosaics and Illyrian finds. Of particular interest are the items from the excavations of the Roman necropolis discovered during the construction of the Avala Hotel in 1936. "Door to the Sea" One of the most mysterious landmarks is the Eastern Gate, which leads directly to the sea. Its purpose remains a mystery. It's also worth finding a small "secret gate" through which you can access the small pebble beaches at the foot of the walls. Roman Ruins Fragments of ancient heritage have been preserved in the Old Town: A 1st-century Roman altar with the inscription "Vinicia Pavlina" in one of the squares Ruins of the Roman Villa Urbana with columns and capitals Foundations of ancient buildings near the Prego store on Njegoševa Street ✨ Legends and Symbols The legend of the two fish is the main symbol of Budva. According to legend, lovers Elena and Marko, not receiving a blessing for their marriage, threw themselves off the cliffs into the sea and turned into two fish, remaining together forever. A stone image of two intertwined fish is embedded in the wall of the Citadel—it is believed that touching it makes love strong and eternal. The origin of the name is associated with the ancient Greek word "bous" (ox)—according to legend, the city was founded by Cadmus, exiled from Thebes, who arrived on the shore on a team of oxen. 🎭 Atmosphere and Life The Old Town is not a museum, but a living space. The narrow cobbled streets are lined with shops, galleries, cafes, and restaurants, while the upper floors are home to local residents or apartments for rent to tourists. Cultural festivals, concerts, and theatrical performances are regularly held here. 💡 Practical Tips Time for a visit: Allow 5-6 hours for a full immersion. The best time to visit is May-June or September-October, when the weather is pleasant and there are fewer tourists. Shoes: The streets are cobblestoned, so comfortable, non-slip shoes are a must. Best photos: At sunset, when the walls turn golden and the sea shimmers blue. Food: Try fresh seafood, local pršut (cured ham), and Montenegrin Vranac wine. Budva's Old Town is the perfect blend of history, architecture, and Mediterranean charm, where every stone holds centuries-old secrets. #budva #budvaoldtown #budvaviewctagnt #montenegrotravel #montenegroviews

#localrules Mogren Beach is one of Montenegro's most beautiful coastal escapes, famous for its crystal-clear Adriatic water, golden shoreline, and dramatic cliffs. Reaching the beach through the scenic coastal path is part of the experience, but respecting a few local rules helps preserve its natural beauty for everyone. Stay on the designated walkway when entering the beach to protect the surrounding cliffs and coastal vegetation. Keep the beach clean by taking all rubbish with you or using the available bins. Avoid leaving cigarette butts or plastic behind, as even small amounts of litter can harm marine life. If you're swimming, pay attention to the sea conditions and any safety flags before entering the water. During the busy summer season, respect other visitors by keeping music at a reasonable volume and avoiding blocking pathways with towels or beach gear. The crystal-clear sea is perfect for photos, but nature should always be left exactly as you found it. What impressed me most about Mogren Beach wasn't just its stunning scenery—it was how clean and peaceful it remained. That beauty is only possible when visitors respect the beach, the environment, and the local community. Would you rather spend a relaxing day on a quiet natural beach or a lively beach filled with cafés and entertainment? #LocalRules #MogrenBeach #Budva #Montenegro #ResponsibleTravel #BeachEtiquette #LeaveNoTrace #TravelMontenegro #AdriaticSea #NatureLovers #ExploreMontenegro

Finally, someone asked about Montenegro! This hidden gem in the Balkans has Swiss-style snowy mountains and fjords, but prices are even cheaper than Thailand. Spend 6k per person for a high-end European experience with fewer crowds, beautiful scenery, and no visa required. A 7-day, 6-night deep dive—I’m officially impressed. 🇲🇪 Highlights|Missing these spots means missing out 🏰 Kotor old town + city walls: A Venetian-style old town listed as a World Heritage site. Be sure to climb 1,350 steps up to St. John’s Fortress to watch the sunset over Europe’s southernmost fjord. The old town is also a cat lover’s paradise, with lazy cats around every corner. 🚤 Kotor bay boat tour: Take a speedboat to the Blue Cave, where the water is as clear as jelly and perfect for snorkeling. Stop by the abandoned submarine base with its cool industrial vibe. Then head to Perast town to take a boat to Our Lady of the Rocks island. The twin island sea views are incredibly soothing. 🏝️ Budva + Sveti Stefan island: A seaside old town with 2,500 years of history. Mogren beach’s fine sand and blue sea rival Greece. If not, you can get an invitation letter through a travel agency. 📅 Best time: May–June or September, fewer crowds and comfortable weather. July–August is peak season with more people and higher prices. 🚗 Transportation: Attractions are spread out and public transport is inconvenient. Strongly recommend self-driving or hiring a car with a driver. Mountain roads are winding and steep; if not driving yourself, hiring a local driver is safer. 💶 Currency: Euro is used, but small towns and guesthouses often prefer cash, so bring enough. 👗 What to wear: Summer clothes and dresses for the coast, thick jackets for Durmitor’s big temperature swings in the morning and evening, and non-slip shoes for hiking. Montenegro’s beauty is the stunning combination of mountains and sea, the quiet stone alleys of old towns, and affordable prices that feel reassuring. Before it gets crowded, go now 🇲🇪✨

Who would have thought that Montenegro, a lesser-known European gem featured in the variety show Running Man, would quickly gain fame thanks to its stunning Adriatic fjords? With visa-free entry, low travel barriers, few crowds, and a peaceful atmosphere, the combination of mountains, sea, and ancient towns creates an unforgettable vibe. A 3-day short trip is just right, with no rush and a fully immersive European slow vacation experience. 📅Day 1 Kotor Bay | medieval fjord town Arrive at Tivat Airport and stay in a guesthouse in Kotor’s old town. The entire old town is open to the public for free, with winding Venetian-style ancient stone walls. Lazy street cats roam the alleys, and it’s also a filming location for Game of Thrones, making every stroll feel full of stories. To get a panoramic view of Kotor Bay, climb the St. John Fortress. The climb involves over a thousand stone steps, but the view from the top is wide and open. Visit early in the morning when there are fewer tourists and the lighting is perfect for photos. In the afternoon, head to the town of Perast and take a boat to two small sea islands. The artificial island church of Our Lady of the Rocks is a classic postcard spot, and the seaside town’s baroque architecture is gentle and soothing. At night, stroll along the old town’s bay, where the sea breeze and starlight create a particularly pleasant atmosphere. 📅Day 2 Budva | pearl of the Adriatic coast Travel by car from Kotor to Budva’s old town, a small city known as the “Little Dubrovnik.” The old town’s streets are filled with ancient churches and handmade shops. Mogren Beach has clear water, perfect for swimming and relaxing. In the afternoon, visit Sveti Stefan Island, a century-old fishing village transformed into a high-end resort and a filming location for a 007 movie. You don’t need to go on the island to capture stunning panoramic shots of the entire island from the shore. In the evening, explore the seaside district and experience the local relaxed nightlife. Be sure to try Montenegro’s local specialty, Njeguški smoked ham, paired with seasonal roasted vegetables for a full-flavored meal. 📅Day 3 Blue Cave sea adventure | perfect return Book a morning boat tour to the Blue Cave, aiming for the earliest departure. Sunlight penetrates the cave’s water, creating rich layers of deep blue. You can snorkel and play in the sea, making this the most breathtaking sea experience of the trip. At noon, enjoy fresh seafood at Tivat Pier, paired with local red wine. In the afternoon, head to Tivat Airport for your return flight. 💡Essential pre-trip tips to avoid pitfalls 1. Visa-free entry rules: Holders of ordinary passports with valid multiple-entry Schengen, US, or UK visas can stay visa-free for 30 days. Without these visas, you can enter visa-free by joining a group tour organized by a qualified travel agency. Be sure to confirm the agency’s credentials in advance. 2. Currency and payment: The euro is used throughout the country. Many small street shops only accept cash, so it’s safer to carry small bills. 3. Best travel seasons: May–June and September have fewer tourists and comfortable weather. July–August is peak beach season. Winter is ideal for mountain skiing vacations. 4. Local transportation: Buses between coastal towns offer great value. Mountain roads have many curves, so driving yourself requires solid mountain driving experience. 5. Travel etiquette: When entering local churches, shoulders and knees must be covered. Book sea tours early to avoid large afternoon groups. Without the crowds of Croatia and with prices much friendlier than Western Europe, Montenegro offers a mix of fjords, turquoise sea, and medieval towns. The Running Man filming locations add extra appeal. It’s a niche destination that’s unlikely to feel crowded or repetitive. Whether for couples on honeymoon or friends traveling together, it’s a perfect fit. If you want to explore a European seaside secret on a budget, Montenegro is definitely worth a trip!

#budvaoldtown Budva completely exceeded my expectations. Wandering through the narrow stone streets of the Old Town felt like stepping back in time, while every turn revealed another incredible view of the Bay of Kotor. The contrast between the medieval architecture and the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea makes this one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited. I recommend taking your time to explore the hidden alleys before heading to the waterfront. If you’re feeling energetic, climb towards the fortress for breathtaking panoramic views over the bay. Even without reaching the top, the scenery is unforgettable. If you’re visiting Montenegro, Kotor is an absolute must-see for its history, coastal charm, and spectacular landscapes. I would happily come back again. #Montenegro #Kotor #OldTown #AdriaticSea #EuropeTravel #HiddenGem #TravelPhotography #TripMoments

Montenegro 🇲🇪 The most underrated country in Europe has already been talked about enough. Originally, I just thought since I was here, I’d add Montenegro to the last three days of my Croatia trip. But the atmosphere of the bays and ancient towns here surprisingly rivals that of the South of France or Southern Italy. Montenegro, this treasure small country on the Adriatic coast, offers an experience far beyond expectations with its beauty of mountains, sea, and towns… Quick itinerary overview: Day 1️⃣ Dubrovnik → Kotor → Budva: Take a bus from Dubrovnik’s main bus station directly to Kotor (actual travel time is longer than official estimates due to traffic along the Montenegrin coast). Then take a taxi to the car rental point (there’s no ride-hailing app, so you need to message the taxi company via WhatsApp to call a taxi). Drive to Budva and check in. Day 2️⃣ Budva → Perast: In the morning, head to Sveti Stefan Island (navigate up the hill to the church). Return to Budva for lunch at Restoran Vista Vidikovac, whose terrace overlooks the entire old town of Budva. After lunch, walk from the hotel parking lot to the Ballet Dancer statue for photos. If time allows, explore Budva’s old town. In the afternoon, drive to Perast, take a detour up the mountain to Horizont Bar, which offers a spectacular panoramic view of Kotor Bay from a high vantage point (a drink purchase is required). Stay overnight in Perast’s old town and watch the sunset. Day 3️⃣ Perast → Kotor: Stroll through the peaceful Perast old town shrouded in morning mist. Around noon, drive back to Kotor and find the entrance to St. John Fortress in the old town (ticket required). Climb to the top of the fortress to take in the full view of Kotor Bay and the town. Return the same way and wander around Kotor’s old town. Stay overnight in Kotor to prepare for an early flight the next day. BTW, Montenegro is a cat paradise, with cats everywhere lazily sleeping and living. A cat lover’s dream place! 🐈 Accommodations: 🏨Porto Montenegro A luxury hotel next to the Tivat Marina, with a private beach and children’s pool, offering very attentive service, perfect for family vacations. 🏨Grand Perast An 18th-century palace converted into a hotel, located in the heart of Perast’s old town, with windows overlooking the beautiful Kotor Bay, full of historical charm. 🏨Villa Boutique Hotel A boutique hotel inside Budva’s old town, just steps from the castle and beach, with clean and comfortable rooms and a wide variety of breakfast options. 🏨Kotor Bay Hotel and Villas A seaside hotel on Kotor Bay with a private pool and spa center, spacious rooms, and stunning fjord views.

Of course, our goal was to hit up as many gorgeous spots and towns as possible, both along the coast and high up in the mountains. · we spent a lot of time researching and managed to plan the trip absolutely PERFECTLY 😍 · 🔸Starting off, of course, with Kotor 🛥️ 2-3 days is plenty to explore the surroundings and take your time seeing everything! Hike to the top, try some traditional dishes, and soak in the vibes and beauty of the bay. Next up 🔸Budva, Sveti Stefan, Petrovac. We stayed in Petrovac for 2 days since it's way less touristy than the neighboring towns. 🔸Then onto some prime sunbathing spots: Bar, Susanj, and Ulcinj, which boasts tons of beaches right on the border with Albania. 2-3 days is enough for all of this (if you're planning an active trip). If you just want to lounge on the beach, you could stay longer. Just a heads up, these are definitely the more tourist-heavy spots ☺️ 🔸Moving on to the other side of the Bay of Kotor You should dedicate at least 3 days to Herceg Novi. I completely fell in love with this town—it’s quiet, peaceful, and stunning. Lots of places to walk around, spots to sunbathe, great cafes and restaurants, plus plenty of attractions nearby. From here, it's an easy trip to Perast, a tiny one-street town practically floating on the water. You can also head to Dobrota to grab some fresh farm-to-table mussels and oysters 🦪. Honestly, these spots are highly recommended, but they're best done as day trips 🔝 🔸Next stop - Mountainous Montenegro 🇲🇪 🏔️ We booked a place in Zabljak for 4 days to explore the area, and it turns out there’s so much to see! The drive from Herceg Novi takes about 4-6 hours, but it’s insanely scenic, so factor that into your plans 😃 On the way, make sure to swing by Podgorica to pick up some wine 🍷 (our friends love staying there since the airport is close, but there isn't really much else to do), and check out the Ostrog Monastery—ideally in the morning before the crowds hit. It's a gorgeous spot right where the mountains begin. 📍You absolutely have to make a pit stop nearby at the Panorama Lake Viewpoint with Cafe (the coffee ☕️ is just as amazing as the view), and the Piva Canyon viewpoint is another "wow" moment. Then, winding through tunnels and peaks, we made our way to the Sedlo Mountain Pass. We snapped a million photos and braced ourselves for a bit of a chill. Finally, here is the mountain town of Zabljak, where amazing local food, natural beauty, peace and quiet, crisp mountain air, and incredible hiking trails are waiting for you 🌲🐿️ 🥘 🔸Heading back to TIVAT via Kolasin - we stocked up on cheese and prosciutto for souvenirs at Vujisic prodavnica Zdrave hrane Kolašin, and then took a scenic, quiet drive down through Grebaje Valley back to the sea 🌊 Tivat really only needs 1-2 days max. Just enough time to stroll around the marina, check out the yachts, and unwind after the road trip. 📌Tips: Renting a car is an absolute must, ideally right from the airport, since a single taxi ride costs about the same as a full day's car rental (35-50 euros). Make sure to ask your hosts about the weather, especially in Zabljak. It might be a balmy +20°C at the coast but a freezing +4°C in the mountains. That's totally normal. Come prepared, or even the local liqueurs and hot soups won't save you 🥶🧣 🗺️ The route was breathtaking and filled with wonderful encounters with different people along the way. It was truly magical—we’ll definitely be back! Wishing you an amazing trip, drop a comment if you have any questions 🙏🏻
