We arranged a staff day out with Lost Earth Adventures and had a wonderful experience. Our team of 13, with varying ages and abilities, contacted them earlier in the year for ideas on an active day in the Peak District. Based on their suggestion, we chose a guided walk from Millers Dale car park, lunch at the Angler's Rest, and abseiling off Millers Dale Viaduct. The communication with the Lost Earth team beforehand was excellent, and the day itself went smoothly. Our guides, Derek and Tom, were both informative and engaging, sharing insights about the local flora, fauna, history, and geography while leading us through a scenic and occasionally challenging walk. Following a delightful lunch, we reached the viaduct where Derek and Tom had the safety gear ready. Their calm and supportive guidance during the abseiling session made it an enjoyable activity, allowing everyone as many tries as they liked. This was a perfect opportunity for our team to bond outside the office in a relaxed and stunning environment. Everyone had a great time—especially those new to abseiling or the area itself. We would absolutely work with Lost Earth Adventures again and highly recommend their services.

We marked a 70th birthday by abseiling from Derbyshire's highest viaduct at Millers Dale, standing 100ft high. It was an amazing experience for all, made even better thanks to our excellent instructor from Lost Earth, Tom. Huge thanks to Tom for his patience, encouragement, and understanding. The spa town of Buxton is a gorgeous surprise, Georgian architecture mixes with granite cotages in its steep streets. The wonderful pavilion, with its plant conservatory, art gallery and cafe, sits next to the Opera House at the side of formal gardens. During the summer there are monthly concerts on the bandstand to enjoy here. The Opera House hosts many shows from stand up to musicals, be sure the check out their website. The Gardens have a miniature railway to ride on for children, some great play parks and even pedalo boats on the busting lake. Well worth a visit 😃 Towards the town near St Anne’s spring - fill your water bottles for free! - is the elegant Buxton Crescent, at one end the Buxton Spa, at the other the ornate Cavendish Arcade. Don’t forget to check out the delicious Charlotte’s Chocolatier Shop. A walk away from the centre is Pooles Cavern, a wondrous cavern full of natural phenomenon of stalagmites and stalactites. Although chilly it is well worth a visit the formations and caves are a natural wonder. Buxton is accessible by car, and public transport, has plenty of cafes restaurants and hotels. A few miles from Bakewell nestled in the peak district dales is the pretty village of Tideswell. It can be reached by bus from Sheffield, Buxton and Bakewell, and has plenty of parking on road and in pay and display car park on the road into the village. Tideswell is dominated by the beautifully ornate church of St John the Baptist, surrounded by carefully managed flower beds and planters, interspersed with benches to sit and admire the view. Around the corner is the delightful Tideswell Lounge cafe. Aromatic, tasty coffee, served with a smile, try with a crisp fresh croissant or deep chocolate cake. For a more substantial meal head to The Star Inn, their venison cottage pie or steak and ale is delicious way to refuel after a days walking. The Cherry Tree cafe is a great pit stop for sausage roll, or filled baps to keep you going through the day. A wonderful days walk in the Peak District National Park. Start the day in Tideswell, with its amazing church, St John the Baptist, the cathedral of the Peak. Plenty of roadside or on a bus route from Buxton and Bakewell. After a wander round the interesting churchyard, follow the Buxton Rd, down through Tideswell Dale to Millers Dale. You walk along past the grounds of the Ravenstor Youth hostel, always a great welcome and popular with walkers and cyclists. Once at The end of Tideswell Dale turn towards Litton Mill, following the River Wye. The serene Wye wends it way through the Dale, past the curiously named Water-Cum-Jolly, to Cressbrook Mill. Wander through the steep village, Bottomhill Lane turning towards walk through Cressbrook Dale towards Litton. Spectacular views across the Dales as you walk upwards across the fields. It takes your breath away the sheer beauty of the area. Stop off for a welcome ice cream at Litton post office, before heading past the quaint Red Lion pub and tiny church towards Tideswell once more. But for me, it's a perfect balance, something Asians rarely experience. This time, I ventured to Buxton, a small, interesting town with a great climate, perfect for active travelers. During my winter visit, I couldn't resist walking along the hillsides, surrounded by snow-covered parks. Children and snow were a perfect match. I had the chance to talk to some locals, who all said that in the summer, their town is packed with tourists – hotels, big and small. Very old tired hotel with very very unhygienic breakfast bathrooms and dumped floors with very old and dirty towels and floors. I paid upfront for 2 days room + breakfast when i got there i waited someone to gave seat to me when nobody came . I just came in and tried to make coffee and one old lady run towards me and attacked me suddenly and said i didn’t pay the breakfast and she didn’t let me to get cup of coffee even i showed my booking iternary which shows that i paid for breakfast. She didn’t believed and asked me to leave the restaurant until she go and check with reception. Breakfast is very bad doesn’t worth to penny. Machines are old and dirty. Dishes are very dirty and unwashed and some of them not washed properly. #Avoidthisplace
