Great Family-Friendly Stay Despite Air Conditioning Issues
We stayed at Globales Nova Apartments with Jet2 from July 21st to 31st as part of a group of 17 from our football club. Five families joined, with kids aged 12 to 16, including our 16-year-old daughter. The weather was intensely hot throughout, mostly around 35°C, dropping slightly to 29–30°C mid-trip, then rising to 32–33°C toward the end. Even late at night, it remained roughly 29°C.
· *The Only Negative – Air Conditioning**
I'll begin with the only downside, as it impacted everyone in our group. The apartments only had basic on/off air conditioning, which couldn’t effectively cool the rooms during such extreme heat. After a full day at the beach or pool, a cool space is crucial to relax, shower, and prepare for the evening or a siesta.
Jet2’s resort manager measured our room temperature at 27°C, even with the air conditioning running. Showers didn’t help, as we’d immediately start sweating again, and sleeping was uncomfortable. Though it wasn’t Jet2’s fault, they provided some compensation.
We’d intended to cook some nights utilizing the in-room kitchens, but cooking would’ve made the rooms even hotter, so we ended up dining out every evening, adding to our expenses. When we complained to the hotel and Jet2, we were given a fan after a few days. However, with two rooms, we needed another fan, and it took multiple requests before receiving one. While they claimed to have changed the air conditioning filters, it made no real difference.
This was undeniably the only significant issue, but in such weather, it was a big deal.
· *Everything Else Was Excellent**
Would we return? Absolutely. Our group had an amazing holiday overall.
Upon arrival, all but one family arrived together. Their transfer bus experienced delays due to full luggage space, so they came about an hour later. While waiting for our rooms, we enjoyed drinks and snacks at the pool bar, setting the tone for the trip. The food was good, prices reasonable, and the staff consistently friendly.
· *Pools**
The outdoor pool was lovely, warm due to the heat, while the indoor pool’s icy water became a refreshing retreat after hours in the sun. Like many resorts in Mallorca, reserving loungers early is a must. We were up around 7am to claim spots, though some guests started as early as 6am. There were plenty of loungers overall, but prime locations filled quickly.
· *Apartments**
The apartments were spacious and clean. The bedroom featured a comfortable double bed and ample wardrobe space, while the lounge/kitchen area offered good storage, a TV, hob, microwave, and fridge.
Our balcony, overlooking the pool, provided a stunning sea view, perfect for sunrise watching. I recommend requesting pool or sea-view rooms, as some face inland.
· *Location**
The location was fantastic. We spent several days on Palmanova Beach, renting sunbeds and umbrellas (€20 for two beds and one umbrella). The beach was pristine, and the sea was crystal clear and warm. We especially enjoyed watching boats, superyachts, and luxury cars around the area.
· *Restaurants & Bars**
We dined at terrific spots, including:
· Grill House (across from the hotel)
· Barbuda Beach
· The Olive Tree
· Zen Lounge Bar
· Turtle Beach Bar
· Siso Beach Club
· Diana Beach House
· Sports Bar (excellent for watching Formula 1)
· A delightful Indian restaurant
· Blackbeard’s in Magaluf
While we visited Magaluf a few times, we preferred the relaxed vibe of Palmanova. Most nights ended with a drink at Roger’s Bar or Three Brothers before heading back to the apartments.
· *Don't Miss Pirates Adventure**
If you’re nearby, Pirates Adventure is a must-see. The performance, acrobatics, and entertainment were truly world-class.
· *Overall**
Despite the air conditioning issues, we unanimously agreed that we’d stay at Globales Nova again. The location is superb, apartments are clean and spacious, the pool is excellent, and the reasonably priced pool bar with friendly staff contributes to a perfect family-friendly atmosphere.
If the hotel could fix the air conditioning, this would easily be a five-star spot. As things stand, that issue is the only barrier to full marks. Would we go back? Absolutely.
