My one-day itinerary recommendation 📝 If you only have one day, don’t stress about trying to visit all five villages. The train makes it possible, but it can feel quite rushed. It’s better to pick the villages that match your travel style and enjoy them slowly. I recommend starting at Riomaggiore, then visiting Vernazza for a relaxed walk and gelato by the harbor. After that, continue to Manarola for the iconic view. One of the must-visit places in Manarola is Nessun Dorma, a famous restaurant with a panoramic view of the village. The food is more like Italian light bites, such as bruschetta, tapas-style snacks, and charcuterie boards. But the real reason to come here is the view. It is so beautiful that it makes the waiting time feel worth it. Highly recommend to downloading the Nessun Dorma app before going. You can join the queue through the app and track your turn. Also there's something inexplicably magical about watching the village light up in the golden hour colors, which cranks up the whole town steeped in this romantic ambiance to the next level. With pastel streets to roam through, a relaxing harbour to laze or swim, Cinque Terre is absolutely a dream destination with timeless appeal. 🇮🇹

If you're traveling independently, it makes sense to set aside at least two full days, exploring two to three villages per day. The trail is quite challenging, with steep, uneven steps that make the hike demanding, but the stunning coastline views and panoramic scenes of Monterosso and Vernazza are well worth the effort. The path winds along cliffs, offering breathtaking glimpses of the sparkling blue Mediterranean below. We took much longer than expected as we paused to admire the wild beauty of the landscape—vibrant red poppies, fluttering butterflies, and rows of lush vineyards lining the hillsides. While there are occasional shaded groves, most of the trail is exposed, with the sun beating down on us as we hiked. By the time we finished, we were left with happy tan lines and unforgettable memories of the gorgeous scenery and peaceful solitude of the trail. And that was the only time I hiked in a long skirt, which I ended up tying around my hip halfway through the trail because I hadn’t anticipated just how difficult the hike would be. It certainly added to the adventure and made for a fun, unexpected memory!

You may take a day tour out or take a train there yourself. Train runs up to 3 times in an hour and the journey from each village to the next only takes about 5 minutes! You can admire the views from different viewpoints, or from the sea. We took the local train to go there. When we visited this place, it was raining heavily. So we had a lunch first, at the local restaurant there while waiting for the rain to stop. Then, after we finished our lunch, we continued our journey despite the drizzle. But anyways, the view, the place overall is totally worth the visit. The view is spectacular. We can't even describe it in words how beautiful the place is. The villages on cliffs are just so stunning. We have such fond memories of our visit here. This place certainly is a little piece of paradise. Will definately be returning here. Monteroso al Mare is the last village of Cinque Terre, and is loved by vacationers for its wide white sand beach and emerald coast.💙 I also stayed in La Spezia and went to Monterosso for swimming one day! Cinque Terre Manarola Cinque Terre is one of the most popular destinations for day trips from Florence!! Among them, the place I would like to introduce is Manarola, the second smallest village in Cinque Terre and the one with the longest history!! Much can be said about Cinque Terre, probably one of Italy’s most famous landmarks and part of the Unesco World’s Heritage list. As the name says, Cinque Terre consist of five villages: coming from West you got Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Hallmark to all these villages of fishermen are their colourful houses latched on cliffs that make for incredible sights you’ll never see anywhere else. One of the most valuable things here is the ability to visit all these villages thanks to a few paths and hiking trails, so you could actually walk from Monterosso, the westernmost villages to Riomaggiore, the easternmost one, and back! Nowadays the area is always packed, so plan accordingly and try to avoid car as a means of transportation, parking lots are scarce and expensive and traffic can discourage even the bravest driver!
