Washougal, Washington
Known as the "Gateway to the Gorge," the hidden gem of Washougal sits at the western entrance of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, just 20 minutes from Portland Airport✈️! With stunning scenery and convenient access, you'll fall in love with it instantly💕
🌊 Columbia River waterfront: Breathtaking river views
📍Captain William Clark Regional Park & Cottonwood Beach
This 93-acre forest park hides a gentle beach called Cottonwood Beach🏖️. It's the historic site where the Lewis and Clark Expedition camped for 6 days! It's perfect for picnics, wading, and photos—every shot looks like a professional masterpiece📸
📍Washougal Waterfront Park & Trail
A paved trail nearly 1 mile long stretches along the river, offering unbeatable views of the Columbia River and Mount Hood🌋! With a natural playground for kids and waterfront paths, it's a must-visit for families! Perfect for boating, walking, and cycling🚣
📍Steamboat Landing Park
A must-visit for river view lovers! Walk along the floating boardwalk to the elevated viewing platform for sweeping views of Oregon, made even more romantic at sunset🌅. The park also features benches and fishing areas, perfect for relaxing and zoning out for an entire afternoon🎣
📍Eagle View Park
A 1-acre linear park featuring paved trails and public art installations that cleverly pay homage to the river landscape. It's a comfortable spot for evening strolls or morning jogs, with a great community feel🏃♀️
🚣 Outdoor exploration: More ways to play
Want to get closer to nature? You must visit the Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge! This 1,049-acre wetland, restored on the site of a former Columbia River floodplain, is home to over 200 species of birds. Birdwatchers, remember to bring your binoculars🔭
If you love water sports, go kayaking or canoeing from the non-motorized boat launch at Waterfront Park🎉. Paddling while gazing at the snow-capped mountains on the other side is so therapeutic~

Ilani Cowlitz Casino Ballroom
Just spent an epic night at the Ilani Cowlitz Casino Ballroom in Ridgefield, Washington for a concert—and honestly, it was a vibe! Located inside the Ilani Casino Resort, this spot is just a quick 30-minute drive from Portland International Airport (1101 Cowlitz Way, Ridgefield, WA 98642). Super easy for out-of-towners or anyone road tripping up from Oregon!
Heads up though: concert nights send the hotel rates skyrocketing—like, seriously, rooms can go over $500 a night. Ummm, no thanks! 😅 I dodged that bullet and found a much better deal at another nearby hotel. If you’re planning to catch a show, definitely book in advance or compare on trip.com for wallet-friendly options.
Perks? The parking is massive (no circling for ages, yay!), and you can score free water and soda while you’re there. Even though I’m not into gambling, wandering through the casino was kinda wild—those slot machines with Chinese characters and symbols felt like a global mashup. Some people joke that “the world is a big China,” and after seeing the games here, I get the joke.
Would you road trip to another city just to catch your fave artist live? Ilani Cowlitz Ballroom delivers on big event energy—even if you don’t hit up the casino floor.

Simon Creek Bridge
#holidayitinerary
Jasper, Alberta, is home to several notable bridges, each with its own historical and functional significance. The Simon Creek Bridge, located on the historic Athabasca Pass Trail, has been a subject of recent discussions. In 2016, the original bridge was washed out, hindering access to the Athabasca Pass National Historic Site. Trevor Willson, a Calgary-based engineer and backcountry enthusiast, proposed a fully funded replacement bridge—100 feet long and 6 feet wide—constructed from fiberglass. Despite the offer, Jasper National Park Superintendent Alan Fehr declined the proposal, citing concerns over maintaining the ecological integrity of the area. This decision has been met with criticism from local enthusiasts who argue that the lack of infrastructure is disconnecting the public from Canada's heritage .

Hiking and sightseeing - enjoy the beautiful view of Mount Hood
🌈Attraction features: Steamboat Landing Park is located in Vancouver, USA. It is a very niche attraction. Locals go there for morning exercise, cycling, fishing, etc. There is a winding path along the Columbia River. Head east to enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains and Mount Hood. There is a wildlife sanctuary about halfway along the path. It is a great place to stretch your legs while enjoying the river view, and you can also see Mount Hood from afar.
🎟️Ticket information: Free
🕐️Opening hours: Open all day
💗Other tips: There are many small stones here, so check your shoes to prevent small stones from getting in and hurting your feet. There is a free parking lot. There are three restrooms, but sometimes only one is open. The park leads to the west end of the William Clark Trail and a 300-foot pier on the Columbia River. There are five benches with wide gaps between them on the pier. There are many fishing rod racks at the west end of the pier. The scenery up, down, and across the river is beautiful.

The winter wonders of the majestic Mt. Rainier!
There are very few places as imposingly amazing as Mt. Rainier with its views of beauty, pure strength, and tremendous gorgeous, snow covered landscapes. One could not help but feel tiny in the presence of this magnificent mountain. The surroundings and snowfall brings out the “child” in you, making snowmen, snowballs, and sliding down the slopes! In this cold weather, it’s surprising that your heart melts in laughter and happiness! #Snowflake #majesticview #happiness
