Wonderful Whiskey Experience for a Birthday Celebration
I recently visited this place with my partner for her birthday celebration. On Sunday, the 28th of June, we took part in the 1823 Experience. We arrived 30 minutes early, and the staff greeted us warmly. To our delight, the tour turned out to be private, just the two of us. We explored the whiskey-making and storage areas, sampling two whiskeys during the tour. Learning about the history and triple distillation process was truly fascinating, as it resulted in incredibly smooth whiskey.
Following the tour, our guide, Nial, led us to a bar for a tasting session featuring four different drams. My favorite ended up being the Three Wood, which was a pleasant surprise since I usually prefer sherry cask whiskeys. After sharing this preference with Nial, he kindly offered us another sample and even let us try a whiskey cocktail. From beginning to end, the tour was simply amazing.
The experience cost £60 per person, or £120 in total, and was absolutely worth it. We've visited several distilleries before, but Auchentoshan had the most reasonably priced gift shop, with bottles starting at just £26. I purchased the Three Wood and my partner chose the American Oak. We also picked up mugs, a fridge magnet, pin badges, and two small glasses included with our tour.
Overall, I highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves whiskey!
