For beach day vibes, Coronado Island is an absolute beauty, famous for its soft sand and iconic Hotel del Coronado (1500 Orange Ave, Coronado, CA 92118). Both are SoCal dreams come true! Need more inspo? Head to the San Diego Zoo (2920 Zoo Dr, San Diego, CA 92101; open daily 9am–6pm) for animal adventures, or get your mind blown at Birch Aquarium (2300 Expedition Way, La Jolla, CA 92037). San Diego, California's second-largest city, borders Mexico to the south and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Renowned for its warm climate, stunning coastline, and numerous beaches, this trip took us from Los Angeles to Coronado Island for a 4-day, 3-night stay at the Marriott Resort. Highlights included visits to the San Diego Zoo, the USS Midway Museum, and the beachfront hotels of Coronado Island—a wonderful journey. Below is an inspired AI introduction: 🌟 San Diego: Where Sunshine, Waves, and History Perfectly Blend 📜 The Golden Age of Coronado Island Strolling along Coronado Island's fine sandy beaches, with the Pacific's gentle waves at your feet and 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival architecture before you, this 1.2-square-mile island was one of California's earliest resort destinations. In 1888, the island built the world's largest all-wood hotel—the Hotel del Coronado (now a Curio Collection by Hilton), where Marilyn Monroe filmed *Some Like It Hot* and Edison himself installed the nation's second electric lighting system. Gazing out from Stan's Beach, you can still sense the glamour of Hollywood stars arriving by yacht in its heyday. 🌉 A Military Legend Bridging Two Eras The Coronado Bridge spanning San Diego Bay is not just the artery to Coronado Island but also a witness to WWII history. Nearby, the USS Midway Museum houses an aircraft carrier that served for 47 years, its rust-streaked deck planes recounting tales of the 1991 Gulf War. 🏰 A Modern Interpretation of Spanish Soul The red-tiled roofs and white walls of the Hotel del Coronado, a Curio Collection by Hilton, perfectly echo the architectural style of the 1769 Spanish mission that founded San Diego. Enjoying a Mexican-style breakfast on the terrace at dawn, you'll notice the tablecloth patterns mirror those of pottery made by local Native Americans 200 years ago. The palm-lined path in the hotel's backyard follows the original route laid out by early Spanish settlers. 🌊 The Philosophy of Life in the Tides By Coronado Island's community pool, 92-year-old surfing coach Stan teaches every student the same first lesson: "Put down your phone—watch the tide chart!" This unexpectedly captures San Diego's life wisdom: embrace modern conveniences but respect nature's rhythms. Islanders still plan fishing schedules by lunar phases, where contemporary fast-paced living and ancient wisdom coexist beautifully. As dusk paints Coronado Bay's waters crimson, Spanish guitar melodies from the hotel terrace blend with the USS Midway Museum's taps—this is San Diego, a place where history and the present resonate in perfect harmony.

#mytripvlog Coronado Beach

#mytripvlog Spectacular sunset with Hotel del Coronado as a backdrop.

☑️ Coronado Beach The white sand beach in front of the Coronado Hotel is a famous beach in San Diego‼️ In the 1930s, it was developed as a military facility including a naval airfield, but now it is one of the most luxurious houses and is considered a beautiful beach tourist destination. The sand on the beach is really soft! The sunset you see here is also the best of the best ❤️ People gather in front of the hotel to drink and play instruments, so you can have a good time :-) #SanDiegoTravel #SoloTravel #Sea #Beach

Even if you’re not an overnight guest, you can visit Hotel del Coronado. Day guests typically make dining reservations (their Sunday brunch is legendary), browse the boutiques, take walking tours, and enjoy the beach. Since it opened in 1888, the hotel maintains a long-standing reputation for hosting celebrities, presidents, and royalty alike. If you do plan to stay overnight. It is the hotel I am asked most about for good reasons. #urbanexplorer #themeparks#nationalpark#lakes#beaches#infinitypool

San Diego was one of those places that felt easy to enjoy from the moment I arrived. The weather, palm trees, beaches and relaxed atmosphere made it feel very different from the busier cities I had visited in the US. I didn't feel like I needed to rush through a long list of attractions. 🌊 My Experience I really enjoyed spending time around La Jolla, especially along the coastline. The ocean views were beautiful, and watching the sea lions resting around the shore was one of those simple moments that made the trip memorable. I also spent some time exploring Balboa Park. The Spanish-style architecture, gardens and museums made it a nice change from the beach scenery. Later in the day, I headed towards Coronado. The beach was peaceful, and the views back towards San Diego were especially nice around sunset. What I liked most about San Diego was the combination of city, beaches and nature. Within the same day, I could walk around a historic neighbourhood, have fresh seafood by the coast and finish the evening watching the sunset. 📍 Travel Tips 🚗 A car is useful
San Diego is quite spread out, so having a car makes it much easier to combine different areas in one day. 🌅 Plan for sunset
The coastline is beautiful in the late afternoon. La Jolla and Coronado are both great places to slow down and enjoy the view. 🦭 Visit La Jolla early
It can get busier later in the day, so going earlier makes the experience more relaxed. 🌴 Don't skip Balboa Park
Even if you're not interested in museums, the architecture and gardens are worth exploring. 🌊 Allow some unplanned time
One of my favourite parts of San Diego was simply walking along the coast without having to follow a strict schedule. ❤️ Final Thoughts San Diego isn't a city I would describe as overwhelming or hectic. For me, its appeal is much simpler — beautiful coastline, sunshine, good food and a relaxed California lifestyle. If you're planning a US trip and want somewhere that combines a city break with plenty of outdoor time, San Diego is definitely worth considering. 🌴🇺🇸 #SanDiego #SanDiegoTravel #California #CaliforniaTravel #USAtravel #WestCoastUSA #LaJolla #BalboaPark #Coronado #TravelInspiration

I'll be honest — my first trip to Coronado Island was underwhelming. I went expecting some wild adventure, found a pretty beach and a nice hotel, ate fish tacos, and thought, "Cool, but why would I ever come back?" That was a huge mistake on my part. Because the second time I went? Coronado completely wrecked me in the best possible way. The first visit, I did the tourist shuffle. Hotel Coronado lobby photos, checked. Orange Avenue, done. Beach towels down, sunscreen on, nap, repeat. I treated it like a pit stop on the way to somewhere better. Total surface-level nonsense. The second visit, I ditched the checklist. I rented a bike instead of renting a car, and that single decision changed everything. I rode along the boardwalk at sunrise — not the crowded midday mess, but the golden, quiet, almost sacred version of this place. Pelicans were gliding like they owned the sky. The ocean was flat and glass-like. I stopped at this random coffee cart near Silver Strand and the guy working it recognized me from nothing — he just handed me a black coffee and said, "You look like you need this." Nobody does that anywhere else. Then I stumbled into something I never expected. While biking through the residential streets behind the hotel, I found a tiny community garden where locals were growing tomatoes and herbs. A woman named Donna invited me in, showed me her plot, and started telling me about growing up on the island. She said her family has been here for three generations. She gave me a bag of fresh basil and told me to "stop rushing and start noticing." I literally carried that basil back to my rental and made the simplest pasta of my life. Best meal of the trip. The real magic though? Renting a kayak at dusk and paddling near the hotel pier. The lights reflecting on the water, the music drifting from the beach — it hit me that this island isn't loud or flashy. It's slow. It's warm. It's the kind of place that doesn't beg for your attention but earns it quietly. Every corner felt like a conversation I didn't know I needed to have. That's why Coronado is my repeat destination. It rewards you for coming back with open eyes instead of an itinerary. **Real talk — what's a place that completely transformed for you on a second visit? Was it something specific that "clicked," or did you just finally slow down? Tell me your story — I'm curious! 👇🌊 #repeatdestination

Colorado Plateau, USA 🏜️ The Colorado Plateau is one of the most spectacular landscapes in the American Southwest, covering parts of Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. It is famous for its enormous red-rock formations, deep canyons, mesas, arches, and desert landscapes. 🌄 Highlights · Grand Canyon, Arizona – one of the world’s most famous river-carved canyons. · Monument Valley, Arizona/Utah – iconic sandstone buttes and mesas. · Antelope Canyon, Arizona – narrow sandstone slot canyon with dramatic light beams. · Horseshoe Bend, Arizona – spectacular bend of the Colorado River. · Bryce Canyon, Utah – famous for its orange-red hoodoos. · Zion National Park, Utah – towering sandstone cliffs and dramatic valleys. · Arches National Park, Utah – hundreds of natural sandstone arches. · Canyonlands National Park, Utah – vast canyons, mesas and remote desert scenery. · Capitol Reef, Utah – colorful cliffs, domes and geological formations. 🧭 Why visit? The plateau is especially fascinating because its landscape exposes millions of years of geological history. Different layers of sandstone, limestone and other rocks create the striking red, orange, cream and brown colors seen throughout the region. Best time: April–May and September–October for generally more comfortable temperatures. Summer can be extremely hot, particularly in lower-elevation desert areas.

#epictravelmoments The sheer, ancient majesty of the Grand Canyon hits you before you even hit the first wave, but nothing compares to the raw adrenaline when your raft drops into a roaring stretch of Class IV whitewater. As I gripped the safety ropes and felt the freezing, silty water crash over the bow, the towering red sandstone cliffs above seemed to close in, framing a narrow ribbon of sky that felt worlds away from modern life. Every plunge through the rapids was a dance between chaos and control, followed immediately by moments of unbelievable calm where the river slicked out like glass. Floating past rock layers carved over millions of years, I found myself completely captivated by the rhythm of the water, the echo of the canyon walls, and the unspoken camaraderie that forms when a group of strangers pitches in to row, rig, and navigate through one of nature's greatest masterpieces. When the sun began to dip, painting the sheer rock faces in shades of burnt orange and deep magenta, we pulled our rafts onto a isolated sandbar to set up camp under a sky bursting with stars. Gathering around a backcountry meal cooked over a camp stove, the silence of the canyon settled in, broken only by the steady murmur of the river drifting past. That night, sleeping on the warm sand with the fresh night air brushing against my face, I realized that rafting the Colorado River is far more than a thrilling sports adventure. It is a profound, grounding reset, a rare chance to unplug entirely and feel genuinely tiny in the presence of timeless geology and boundless open space. For anyone looking to experience this bucket-list expedition, proper planning is essential to pull off a seamless journey into the wilderness. Costs vary depending on the style of your trip, with short one-day or half-day runs starting around $150 to $400, while full multi-day expeditions ranging from 3 to 18 days typically cost anywhere between $1,500 and $6,000+ per person, which covers gear, professional guides, meals, and permits. Getting there usually starts by flying into Phoenix or Las Vegas, followed by a drive to Flagstaff or Page, Arizona, where most outfitters meet before shuttling you directly to the primary launch point at Lees Ferry. This was such an epic travel moment for me that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Would you do it ? #GrandCanyon #ColoradoRiver #WhitewaterRafting #RiverExpedition #AdventureTravel #WildernessLiving #NatureSeeker

Spent 4 nights at The Balmoral Hotel on a recent trip to Scotland, and it was hands-down the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. I’ve previously stayed at renowned places like the Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles, Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, various Hilton Conrad properties, JW Marriott, and Four Seasons, but none combined Service, History, and Location as perfectly as the Balmoral. It surpassed them all and set a new personal gold standard. The service was remarkable. Housekeeping went above and beyond—when tidying up or providing turn-down service, they placed our eyeglasses on lens wipes and inserted bookmarks in our books. Such small yet thoughtful touches truly stood out and made a lasting impression. Guests staying at the hotel are also entitled to access their spa facilities, including the steam room and sauna, a privilege usually reserved for spa patrons. Breakfast was fantastic, with both an incredible buffet and outstanding menu options. I had eggs benedict or avocado toast each morning, and every bite was delicious. The staff throughout the hotel were wonderful: from the bellmen, front desk, restaurant team, whiskey room attendants, and the exceptional housekeeping staff. Speaking of the whiskey room, it boasted a selection of over 500 bottles from across Scotland. We opted for a whiskey flight and had an amazing experience. The location of the hotel is unbeatable—right in the city center, next to the largest train station, walkable to everything, and offering unobstructed views all around. Truly incredible. 10/10, I will definitely stay here again.

San Diego is one of California's leading tourist cities, boasting a warm climate and beautiful coastline. For first-time visitors, the following five spots are highly recommended: ① Balboa Park: A popular spot featuring a vast area encompassing art galleries, museums, gardens, and the San Diego Zoo. Its beautiful Spanish colonial architecture is a highlight, making it perfect for a stroll. ② La Jolla Cove: A small beach surrounded by cliffs, offering crystal-clear waters and opportunities to enjoy wild sea lions and seals. Ideal for snorkeling and walks. ③ USS Midway Museum: A museum where you can tour a massive aircraft carrier that was actually used by the USS Midway. Aircraft are also on display inside, allowing you to experience the history of the San Diego Navy. ④ Coronado: An island with beautiful beaches and a resort-like atmosphere. The historic Hotel del Coronado is famous and recommended for those who want to relax. ⑤ Sunset Cliffs: A coastal park on cliffs offering panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. As the name suggests, it's known as a famous spot for sunsets, where you can relax while watching the sun sink into the ocean. Visiting these five locations will allow you to fully enjoy San Diego's nature, history, and resort atmosphere all at once!

Colorado’s fifth stop – The Gardens of the Gods. Once again, I was awestruck by the incredible craftsmanship of nature. Again in Colorado, but the terrain here is vastly different from Black Canyon. The sedimentary rocks have been vertically raised and turned over by mountain-building processes, forming fins. The softer rocks have been weathered and eroded, leaving behind hard, red sandstone. This place is also a “paradise” for rock climbers, offering both introductory and challenging routes. Personally, I wouldn’t dare to try anything too difficult.

Station 6 in Colorado Mount Blue Sky Challenged not to breathe oxygen at an altitude of 4,300 meters! The mountains loom close and distant, their peaks layered upon each other. We ascended along the winding mountain road, with a sense of impending storm. We saw snow-covered goats on the mountains and delicate flowers on the highland meadows, as well as vegetation clinging to rocky crevices. We were struck by the tenacity of life and felt that protecting this fragile high-altitude ecosystem was both urgent and crucial.

#itinerarycheck The Maroon Bells are the most photographed mountains in Colorado and the Crater Lake trail is the serious version of the Maroon Lake stroll—same start, twice the commitment. I parked at Maroon Lake Scenic Turnout (the lower lot, not the overflow up the road) at 6:40 am on a late August weekday and still paid the $10 RFTA shuttle reservation fee because private cars are banned from 8 am–5 pm late May through early October. You either arrive before 8 or you ride the shuttle from Aspen Highlands Base Village, which is $16 round trip, card only, and books out on weekends. From the turnout the trail goes 1.5 miles around Maroon Lake (do this part fast, it is crowded and flat), then climbs steadily 3.5 miles one way to Crater Lake, 220 m gain, on a rocky tread that gets rougher the higher you go. Total 10 km return, 3–3.5 hours with photo stops. Crater Lake itself sits in a glacial cirque directly under the Bells, but it is shallow and often reflects better from the moraine on the east side than from the shoreline. I ate lunch at the outlet and watched a marmot steal a granola bar from a guy who left his pack open—classic mistake, zip everything. Altitude is the quiet problem: the trailhead is 2920 m, Crater Lake is 3140 m, and if you drove up from Denver (1600 m) same morning you will feel it. I spent the previous night in Aspen (2400 m) and still puffed on the switchbacks. Water: one liter minimum, two if warm; no filtration sources you can trust after the snowmelt drops in late July. Toilets at Maroon Lake are flush, none past the lake. Bear country—store food in the car, not the trunk-adjacent soft bag. Permit nuance: no separate permit for the hike, but the parking/shuttle reservation is mandatory in season, and the Maroon Creek Road gate is locked to private vehicles during the ban window. Outside season (October–May) you drive yourself but the road is not plowed past the first mile, so it becomes a snowshoe. Common itinerary error: people try to add the Four Pass Loop or even West Maroon Pass as a “day extension.” Those are 25–30 km alpine routes with route-finding and snow bridges—do not fool yourself. For a one-day Aspen plan: shuttle up at 7 am, Maroon Lake quick shots, Crater Lake hike 8–11:30, lunch at the lake, down by 2, back to Aspen for a late lunch. Anyone hiked Crater Lake when the Bells had fresh snow in September—worth the colder forecast or does the mud cancel the gain?
