Unlike islands where the main attraction is a single town or sunset viewpoint, Milos rewards visitors who explore its coastline, traditional villages and quieter inland areas. The island lies in the southwestern Cyclades and is also famous as the place where the ancient statue known as the Venus de Milo was discovered. Sarakiniko may be the image that brings most travellers here, but Milos offers much more: the fishing houses of Klima, the sunset from Plaka, waterfront dinners in Pollonia, archaeological sites near Trypiti and boat excursions through the dramatic formations of Kleftiko. How Many Days Do You Need? 📆 Three full days are the minimum I would recommend, although four or five days provide a much more relaxed experience. With three days, you can visit Sarakiniko, Plaka, Klima and several accessible beaches, while reserving one day for a boat trip. Chora sits on a hill under a Byzantine castle; the lane down to Palamari archaeological site on the north coast is 12 km of narrow asphalt with goats standing in the middle—honk, don’t swerve. Palamari is an Early Bronze Age settlement, fenced, free entry, no crowds. I walked the grid of stone foundations while a shepherd grilled cheese on a stick nearby—he offered me a piece, salty and smoky, wouldn’t take my €5. Santorini 🇬🇷 One of the beautiful Cyclades islands in Greece (Aegean Sea). This island is very famous for an old Italian movie I grew up with, so it has always been in my bucket list forever. Finally I got the chance to go and… it was bigger than I expected, pretty, but very unusual. So, apparently half of the original island sunk after a massive earthquake in the past, and so now the island look just like a massive “croissant” where the three main towns are dominating the edge of the Caldera volcano (where the explosion and earthquake + tsunami originated from). The capital #fira is nice with lots of options for food and nightlife, the following town of #imerovigli has some spectacular views of the volcano and the cliff looking down the water, and the most famous town of #oia is pretty much what everyone knows and imagines #santorini is: pretty, cute blue and white domes, build on top of a cliff, with beautiful restaurants, bars and Greek themed shops. Food in Santorini is great! Lots of expensive seafood and fresh fish options and lots of super cheap yummy #gyros (typical Greek pita with yogurt, salad and meat). I found Santorini to be beautiful and worth the visit. They also produce very sweet wines (the island is strangely full of wineries) and tomatoes 🍅🤷🏻♂️. In my opinion Santorini is fantastic but three days are enough for my liking. You feel spoiled and treated like a king but if you are like me, not a real king, more than three days may be a little stretch 😅😅 Love it though. Will come back one day.
