Davidson County travel guide and discussion

Who would have thought!! In Nashville, known as "the loudest city in the world," I actually stayed in a quiet garden where you can hear cicadas 🌿 Here’s the key info first 👇 This trip lasted four days and three nights, with a per-person cost kept under US$1,800 (excluding airfare). Below is a tested itinerary that really works—no fluff, just straight to the point. 🚗 Arrival transportation From BNA airport, the best option in 2026 is the Waymo self-driving car, fully autonomous all the way to your accommodation. The first ride might make your palms sweat from nerves, haha 😂 It takes about 20 minutes to get to the Centennial Park area, costing US$16–20. You can also rent a car right at the airport; Hertz and Enterprise counters are on the right side of Terminal 1 arrivals. Compact cars run about US$45 per day in summer. 🏡 Where to stay 🌳 The rental is in a residential area opposite the north gate of Centennial Park, just a 3-minute walk to the park and about 10 minutes on foot to Vanderbilt University’s west gate 🌳 A detached garden house with front and back yards, planted with crape myrtle and hydrangeas, blooming perfectly in July 🌸 Waking up to birdsong in the morning is truly moving 🌳 The second floor has a terrace surrounded by greenery, with a hanging chair and a small desk. Sitting there with iced tea at dusk, faint sounds of a street musician’s saxophone drift in—so romantic 📍 Day 1: Parthenon + Centennial Park Nashville is nicknamed "the Athens of the South," and they really built a 1:1 replica of the Parthenon!! It’s inside Centennial Park, which is free to enter. The Parthenon houses an art gallery and an Athena statue exhibit, with a US$10 admission fee. The 12-meter-tall golden Athena statue stands in the main hall, sunlight streaming through the skylight. The upward shot is breathtaking and iconic 📷 I took over 50 photos here, every one share-worthy. The park itself is great to explore, with large lawns, a lakeside trail, and a rose garden. In the evening, many locals come to jog or walk their dogs. July sunsets are around 8:10 PM. The golden hour light on the temple columns is warm and yellow, making you feel like you’ve traveled to Greece. 📍 Day 2: Vanderbilt campus + 12 South Vanderbilt University is called the "Harvard of the South," and the campus is basically a large garden 🎓 The shaded paths around the core Dyer Observatory are stunning, with few tourists during summer break, making it perfect for a slow walk and photos. Kirkland Hall library is a Gothic red-brick building, and the lawn in front is an ideal picnic spot! The Vanderbilt Fine Arts Gallery on campus is free and air-conditioned enough to need a jacket. In the afternoon, head to 12 South! It’s a 10-minute drive from campus. This street is a haven for creative types— 🎨 Reese Witherspoon’s clothing store Draper James is here, with a dreamy storefront 🎨 The iconic "I Believe in Nashville" mural has been restored and now looks even more vibrant than in previous years 🎨 Emerson Grace boutique offers many unique pieces by Southern designers 🎨 When tired, relax on a bench in Sevier Park, where the shade is much cooler 📍 Day 3: Opryland indoor garden + Grand Ole Opry Many don’t know Nashville has an indoor tropical garden!! The Gaylord Opryland Resort features a huge glass-domed atrium with over 10,000 plants, waterfalls, and streams 🌴 Outside it’s 40°C, but inside it’s a constant 22°C—an absolute summer refuge. After exploring, catch a live Grand Ole Opry show in the same building. It’s the longest-running broadcast program in the world, airing since 1925! Tickets range from US$49 to US$129 depending on seating. Book at least two weeks in advance on the official website, as summer weekend shows often sell out. 📍 Day 4: East Nashville + Cumberland River bike ride The last day is for East Nashville—the favorite neighborhood of locals, with street art density rivaling Berlin 🎨 Around Five Points, you’ll find independent record stores, vinyl bars, and vintage furniture shops. In the afternoon, bike along the Cumberland River greenway 🚲 Rent bikes at Nashville Bicycles for US$15 half-day. The riverbanks are heavily shaded, making the ride feel several degrees cooler than downtown—a perfect way to enjoy summer. 📌 Lessons learned: → Sunscreen is a top priority in Nashville in July! Start with SPF 50, and don’t forget a hat and sunglasses → Many attractions are closed on Mondays, so double-check before planning your itinerary → Nashville is car-friendly, but downtown parking is expensive and hard to find. Staying at a rental with parking is recommended → For the most authentic honky-tonk vibe, visit Broadway Tuesday to Thursday nights; weekends are mostly tourist crowds → Tennessee summers have frequent thunderstorms, so always carry a foldable umbrella just in case On the flight back, I kept thinking: what moved me most about Nashville wasn’t the tourist spots, but the music flowing through the air everywhere. Someone playing banjo outside the supermarket, a harmonica by the gas station, even drivers playing their own demo recordings—the whole city is a melody 🎵

Located in downtown Nashville, USA, Broadway is one of the city's most iconic and vibrant neighborhoods, famously known as the "Honky Tonk Highway." Steeped in a rich musical atmosphere, this street is the perfect starting point to experience Nashville's unique culture. Strolling down Broadway, you'll find an endless lineup of bars and restaurants. Almost every venue features live music, with genres ranging from country to rock and blues. Best of all, most places don't charge a cover fee—just order a drink and you can easily enjoy professional performances. Classic spots like Tootsies Orchid Lounge are exactly where many famous musicians first got their start. When night falls, the entire street is illuminated by neon lights, with music echoing from every corner, creating a lively and carefree vibe. Both tourists and locals gather here to soak up the music and nightlife. Broadway isn't just a street; it's a never-ending musical party 🎵.

THIS IS A MUST! THIS PARK IS A HUGE WATER PARK

Boot buying, Nashville, TN. So many sizes for women and men. Cheapest pair I saw was $199 but obviously you get three pairs for this price, which for this quality of boot is a good deal IMO. Located on Broadway near the honky tonk central, you can’t miss it with huge signs saying buy one pair get two free. It’s a busy store but well worth it and gets you in the mood to go dancing in boots!#nashville

Let’s go honky tonking
