Nanshan Xiaoyucun is truly a long-standing local favorite, and I've been coming here for years. During the fishing season, seafood prices are reasonable, and the freshness is top-notch. I chose the seasonal swimming crabs; when you crack open the shell, it's full of meat. It tastes great on its own. The lobster meat isn't tough; it's very meaty. I order the sea urchin rice every time I visit; the sea urchin is very fresh and sweet, and it's amazing mixed with rice. Besides seafood, the restaurant also has many authentic home-style dishes and provides snacks and fruit; they pay good attention to detail. Being my first time on China's bullet train, I was a bit nervous about navigating the process. It’s a large, mid-to-high-end commercial complex that really captures the vibe of the original in Kuala Lumpur. As a commercial and office complex in the heart of Dalian, here are my five deep impressions after exploring it. First, the overall area—both the built-up area and the internal volume—is quite large. The design is very open and transparent, and the circulation is simple, without too many twists and turns. It integrates naturally with the high-rise offices, outdoor plaza, and the urban fabric. Because of Dalian's hilly terrain, it actually feels more layered. Second, the mixed use of large glass curtain walls and metal panels means that even after 11 years, it still looks premium and timeless with proper maintenance. I barely saw any damage or deformation; the attention to detail here is spot on. Third, since Dalian doesn't really have shared bikes and there aren't many electric scooters, the outdoor area of the mall feels very clean and free of oil stains. This is a world of difference compared to other tourist-heavy areas that are poorly managed. Fourth, I really like the clearly distributed business formats inside. In particular, the electronic screens with unified designs that show brands at a glance, along with the huge fonts used for spatial zoning (like "3F West" or "Food Street"), mean you never have to worry about getting lost. The atrium area where the fountain is located has an open view, and the brands are lined up with high-end outdoor, light luxury, and designer labels. It isn't right by Zhongshan Square, but since taxi fares in China are generally cheap, I recommend it if you're looking for a clean, affordable, and value-for-money hotel! · Cleanliness: It's spotless, perhaps because it hasn't been long since it opened! · Since it hasn't been long and the entire hotel is non-smoking, there isn't even a hint of cigarette smell! · Breakfast: Personally, I didn't like it. The variety was limited, and at 40 yuan, it wasn't cheap, so I recommend eating out instead! · The staff are super friendly, but they don't even speak basic English! However, you can communicate using Papago!! · If you order delivery, a robot even delivers it from the lobby to your room. It was the smallest room for around 30,000 won per night, but it was spacious enough to spread out a suitcase and live comfortably. 🚕 In Lushun (Port Arthur), we unexpectedly lost our mobile signal, which led us to a place we hadn't planned on visiting—though we definitely should have. Our taxi driver, who was taking us around the key sights, insisted on the trip. 🧭 This place is the Lushun Museum (旅顺博物馆). The museum's exhibits are spread across two two-story buildings filled with all sorts of ancient artifacts. We spent quite a while wandering through the first building under our driver’s watchful eye. Just as we reached what we thought was the final exhibit, the driver showed us his translator app, which read: "The boss must see the mummy!" We laughed but followed our "tour guide" into the second building. It was filled with various metalware and porcelain—first on the ground floor, then the second... To be honest, I was ready to escape that pottery paradise, but then... 👀 It turned out that to the left of the ceramics hall, there’s a room with mummies. I kid you not ✝️! There's a male and a female mummy, both over 1,300 years old. To say we were blown away would be an understatement. Photography isn't allowed, though you can find a few sneaky shots on Google. However, I don't think any photo can truly capture the experience of seeing them with your own eyes. They are behind glass, but you can get close enough to see everything clearly. This is nothing like seeing Lenin or Ho Chi Minh in their mausoleums. 💯 Believe it or not, the museum is completely free. If you have a long overnight layover in Dalian, don't rush to book a hotel and definitely don't settle for a night at the airport. I’m sharing a travel hack that I would happily repeat myself. We landed in Dalian around 11:00 PM, and our next flight was at 6:00 AM. Dalian Airport is small, and the prospect of spending the entire night in those airport chairs didn't appeal to me at all. So, we grabbed a taxi and headed to the 24-hour spa complex, GORA RESORT. It turned out to be one of the best decisions of our trip. ⭐ Personally tested 🚕 From the airport – about 15–20 minutes by car. The roads are practically empty at night, so the drive was very quick. In Didi, search for: Qiangluo Huatan Hot Spring Resort & Bath or the Chinese name: 蔷萝花潭·温泉度假洗浴 ♨️ Entry – 79 CNY for adults and 39 CNY for children. This price includes access to the complex: hot pools, saunas, relaxation areas, and all public facilities. 💆‍♀️ Pro-tip: Book the massage package. There is an option for about 199 CNY that includes both entry and a 90-minute massage. If you choose this, you don't need to pay the separate 79 CNY entry fee. 🧽 Body Scrub – about 10 CNY. This is pure bliss after a journey. Once you’ve been washed, scrubbed, and massaged, you feel like a brand new person. 😁 🍜 Dining – Food is available on-site. Meals are paid for separately. 😴 One very important point If you want a few hours of proper sleep, book a sleeping spot immediately upon arrival. I didn't do this. The complex was quite busy that night, and by the time we arrived, there were no designated sleeping spots left. I ended up sleeping in the common relaxation area on a daybed with a pillow under my head. It was fine, honestly. But after a 90-minute massage, my body was definitely hoping for a presidential suite. 😂 The complex offers many sleeping options: beds with TVs, private cabins, rooms for couples, and various lounge zones. So, I wouldn't recommend just showing up at night and hoping for the best. Why go to a SPA during a layover? Because instead of five or six hours in an airport chair, you get a completely different experience. Arrive → Shower → Soak in hot pools and saunas → Get a massage → Have a scrub → Rest → Return to the airport. We were on our way home, so this option felt especially wonderful. I boarded the plane clean, rested, and relaxed from the massage—and I slept through the flight effortlessly. I arrived home feeling like a human being, rather than being in a "don't talk to me for three days" state. 😁 💛 My Verdict If I have another long night layover in Dalian, I won't even think twice about what to do. It's finally in Dalian! People in Dalian are so lucky!! I picked this restaurant blindly after landing in Dalian 🍴, and it was incredible! The stir-fried squid with thick potato starch noodles is packed with ingredients! There's so much squid, and the pieces are huge and crunchy. It pairs so well with the noodles!! Eat the sweet and spicy chicken wings while they're hot; they're crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I love the sweet and spicy flavor!! The restaurant also has sweet and savory pork tenderloin, fried ribbon fish rolls, wasabi shrimp balls... you can order any of their specialty dishes or barbecue without going wrong! Dalian's food scene is just unbeatable!!!!!

From the moment you enter, the blue and white facilities and clear water put you in vacation mode. Especially on sunny days, it’s perfect for both photos and water play. The highlights are mainly in a few areas: the rainbow slide is a must-try, offering a strong sense of speed and splash; the wave pool is great for relaxing, with a fantastic atmosphere when the waves come up; the lazy river is perfect for drifting slowly while enjoying the surrounding water views; families with kids should focus on the children’s play area, where the facilities are concentrated and kids can play for a long time. When the lights come on at night, the park feels even more magical, with blue and purple lights reflecting on the water, creating a completely different vibe from the daytime. But if you love taking photos while travelling, SAVE THIS LOCATION. 📍 How to find it Search for: XI · DING / 喜鼎海胆水饺 (Donggang Branch) This is a famous Dalian restaurant known for its sea urchin dumplings, located around the Donggang waterfront and not far from Venice Water City. Once you arrive at the restaurant, walk toward the parking area and continue behind it. That’s it. The photo spot itself doesn’t really have a separate name or map location, which is exactly why it still feels so hidden. You are basically using the restaurant as your landmark. 📌 Navigation: 喜鼎海胆水饺(东港店) 📍 Area: Donggang, Dalian 📍 Address: 海之韵路49号 B31栋 📸 Photo spot: directly behind the restaurant/parking area 🌊 Why is it so pretty? This part of Donggang feels completely different from the busy centre of Dalian. The space is open. The buildings are elegant. You have the waterfront nearby, wide skies and beautifully designed surroundings. Depending on the angle, the photos almost don’t look like China. It can feel a little European, a little coastal, and very cinematic. And because this isn’t an official tourist photo spot, I loved that it didn’t feel like everyone was standing in exactly the same place trying to get the same picture. It felt much quieter and more natural. 📸 Best way to take photos My biggest tip? Don’t zoom in too much. The beauty of this place is the surroundings. Use a wider frame so you can capture the architecture, open sky and landscape around you. Walking shots also work really well here. Instead of standing directly in front of the camera, walk along the road or turn slightly away. It makes the photo look much more effortless.
