It enjoys cool weather all year round and is a southern Chinese city that gets snow in the winter. 4 Days 3 Nights: Packed Itinerary, Endless Eats, and Epic Shopping Day 1 ✈️ Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) - Kunming (Changshui) 🚍 Travel from the airport to the accommodation Takes about 2 hours 🏨 Wang Tong Hotel A hotel located on the way to the snow mountain 1 hour from the hotel to the snow mountain 🍻 Chinese beer party and Yunnan food *** Since we took an afternoon flight, the first day was spent traveling to stay at a hotel as close to the snow mountain as possible because it takes another 3-4 hours traveling up the mountain before seeing snow. We started our journey from Taiwan, traveling through Xiamen to Kunming, where we explored Kunming Old Street. The next day, we took a bullet train to Dali and stayed near Longkan Pier to directly experience the stunning morning views of Erhai Lake and enjoy a travel photoshoot. Afterward, we moved to a stay near the South Gate of Dali Ancient City, which was incredibly convenient for walking straight into the town. Then, we carpooled to Shuanglang and stayed in a cozy scenic inn with a large balcony overlooking Erhai Lake, taking leisurely strolls around Shuanglang Pier. The following day, we shared a ride to Shaxi Ancient Town—an absolutely breathtaking place meant to be savored slowly. We spent two nights here, riding an electric scooter all over town, enjoying the double treat of the gentle breeze and beautiful scenery. When visiting Shaxi, don't just stay for one night; it's far too rushed. I highly recommend spending at least two nights to truly slow down your pace and connect with your inner self. From Shaxi, we carpooled to Lijiang and checked into a century-old inn that welcomes many international travelers. The gorgeous Bai-style architecture and the warmth of the hosts remain my fondest memories of this place. Next, we carpooled from Lijiang to Lugu Lake. The round-trip fare was ¥110 per person, and it took 4 hours one way. Although it was a long drive, the breathtaking scenery made it totally worth it! We stayed in a room with floor-to-ceiling windows right by the lake, soaking in the beauty of Lugu Lake without even stepping outside. In the afternoon, we took a carpool tour around the lake for ¥50 per person—every corner was picture-perfect. The next morning, we took a traditional zhuchao (pig-trough) boat out to see the blooming Ottelia flowers; the views were simply irresistible. If you come here, you absolutely must try the stone-pot sturgeon; I’m still craving it to this day! At Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, we only visited Blue Moon Valley, and that alone felt completely worth it. We didn't manage to grab cable car tickets in advance, but we had no regrets. We also let my daughter enjoy a fun horseback riding experience at Lashi Lake. Compared to the heavy crowds in Lijiang Ancient City, strolling through Shuhe Ancient Town was much more pleasant. It’s quiet, less crowded, and not overly commercialized. The town is just the right size to explore on foot. When we got tired, we just found a beautiful little shop in the Feihua Chushui area to rest. Everything felt so incredibly peaceful and laid-back. When traveling, it's wonderful to take things slowly, relax your mind, have a conversation with your soul, and quietly savor these peaceful moments with your child. The world is vast, and I choose to take my time exploring it.

Yunnan is, in my opinion, the most diverse and fascinating province in China, and Kunming is its capital. I've previously visited Lijiang, and on this trip, I checked out the small city of Mile. There are so many other incredible places here, like Shangri-La, Dali, Pu'er, and Xishuangbanna—and from here, you can even take overland border crossings into Laos and Vietnam. Kunming itself is an incredibly green city featuring tons of floral peacock installations, which look wonderfully unique and super photogenic. I'll definitely be coming back to explore the rest of these spots in detail.

These days I took the kids out for a walk and discovered a wonderful park! This park is the Shuijing Park in the northern district of Kunming city, right next to the Guan Jing commercial center. Although it’s not very large, its design is very clever, enclosing the entire park within a huge shopping mall. This shopping mall has many different snack shops, a movie theater, and children’s play areas, plus a large office building. The place gets very lively at night because people nearby love to come here to shop and dine. Even better, the park has excellent greenery! There’s a large lawn and many trees, along with plenty of water features. So you can walk around, breathe fresh air, and see lots of birds and fish. My favorite part is the beautiful signs and landscape design in the park. They clearly mark the park map and attraction locations, so you immediately know where to go. Also, the park paths are very well maintained, making for a comfortable and breathable walk. If you’re looking for a place to take kids for a walk, Shuijing Park in Kunming’s northern district is definitely a great choice!

Take two days off during the week and go straight away. The value is way better than the Spring Festival water-splashing festival. Here’s a quick summary: with 1,800–2,800 per person, you can have a very comfortable trip. The best pace is 3 days and 2 nights. With 4 days, you can add a trip toward Mengla. July in Banna is a magical mix of rain and sunshine. Umbrella + sunscreen + sandals are essential. Mosquitoes are fierce, so don’t skimp on repellent. Temperatures hover around 30 degrees. It feels humid but the many trees make it bearable. The night market breeze is just right 🌴 🏨 Accommodation tips you can trust (no risk) Top recommendation is Gaoshuang Xishuangjing.
