First time flying with China Eastern Airlines, and it definitely won't be my last! ✈️✨ It’s so convenient that they operate daily direct flights straight from Singapore to Yunnan—in just around 4 hours, you’re in Kunming. Though there’s no personal seatback screen for entertainment, they do have overhead screens showing inflight content, and a hot meal is served onboard to keep you comfortable throughout the trip. 🏨 : Kunming Day Youth Hotel (Nanping Street Dongfeng Square) 📝 : This is a budget-friendly gem! The rooms are spacious, clean, and come with large bathrooms and complete amenities for a comfortable stay. The front desk staff are very helpful, and there is an elevator for convenience. Note that the entrance is actually marked as "Sun Hotel." One minor drawback is a slight smell of cigarettes, even in designated non-smoking rooms; if you're sensitive to smoke, you might want to skip this one. Board this boat to see the vast Dianchi Lake, feel the breeze, so relaxing~ - The shops in the pier market⛵️ have so much character. Coffee, desserts, creative merchandise, craft beer... 🍦Langbing's milk ice cream and ice cream egg waffles are delicious!! Island-style decor paired with summer ice treats, every photo looks like it's in Jeju Island. Sitting by the pier feeling the breeze, so comfortable. Board before sunset to enjoy the view from the boat. 45-minute full-route immersive experience. Enjoy the scenery on the deck, plus various installations for taking photos📷. There are plenty of stylish cafes along the way, and you might even run into some adorable furry friends! 🐕 Green Lake Park: The lotus flowers were in full bloom when I visited. Sit by the lake, feel the breeze, and just slow down the pace Xilou: A must-visit restaurant in Kunming. It’s super popular! 🔥 If you're solo, a bowl of Crossing the Bridge Rice Noodles is more than enough to fill you up. The ingredients are generous, and the broth is incredibly savory. The mini Steam-pot Chicken is also a total flavor bomb! 👍 If you're in a group, try their stir-fries and wild mushrooms 🕒 Afternoon Yunnan Military Academy: Located on the west side of Green Lake. The yellow walls and red windows give off a strong historical vibe. Stroll through the corridors to soak in the history. 🆓 Free entry with an appointment Kunming Old Street: Tucked away in these old alleys are some fantastic shops. You've got to try the famous flower cakes from Jiahua, Guanshengyuan, and Panxiangji. The lively, bustling atmosphere here is just wonderful 🕘 Evening Dounan Flower Market: A place that turned a flower market into a 4A tourist attraction! I recommend entering around 9:00 PM. You can get jasmine and daisies for 5 RMB, and roses or lilies for 10 RMB. Seriously, you'll shop 'til you drop! Accommodation Spotlight: This time, I stayed at the newly opened Manjia Seaview Resort Hotel right by Dianchi Lake. The decor is very chic, with various room types to choose from, and you get a stunning view of Dianchi. 🤩 Downstairs is Maan Coffee—the outdoor seating area is incredibly photogenic. The food doesn't disappoint either; both the presentation and the taste are top-notch! 👍 Quick Tip: Summer isn't the season for seagulls; they won't be back until after October. You can head to places like Haigeng Dam then. Make sure to set aside an extra day for that! 📷

We hadn't come across it anywhere before 🤷♀️, but Kunming is packed with cafes and shops where you can sample these local beans. And in true Chinese fashion, there's a creative twist: at a local cafe, we tried a clean filter coffee with a strikingly clear rose flavor and aroma! 🌹 We immediately asked an AI how they pull this off 👇🏻 As it turns out, in Yunnan, freshly harvested coffee cherries undergo anaerobic fermentation in airtight tanks alongside fresh rose petals. During this process, the beans absorb the flower's natural essential oils at a molecular level. The result is premium-grade Arabica where a light roast allows the rose to bloom as a natural tasting note. No syrups or artificial flavorings involved! A cup costs about $10. Day 7 Cont'd: After visiting the "Windy Place" in Fengyangyi, we headed to Dali Ancient City to check out the historical architecture and catch a view of Cangshan Mountain from afar. Walking through the city gate and heading up to the tower offers a panoramic view of the distant Cangshan Mountain and the historic buildings below. The architecture makes you feel like you've stepped onto the set of a period drama, traveling back in time to the ancient worlds seen in TV shows. Beyond the preservation of these historical sites, they have been infused with a modern commercial vibe, now housing trendy tea shops, sportswear stores, and more. Of course, local "intangible cultural heritage" eateries are also a must-see. I was even amazed to see the Big Four banks operating inside these historic buildings—truly a blend of history and modernity! 😄 It's a pity I can't fit all the photos here. Even though it started pouring while we were exploring the ancient city, it didn't dampen our spirits or stop us from taking photos as we walked. 😂 We ducked into a tea shop, ordered a drink ☕, and waited for the rain to let up, taking a moment to slow down and rest. This is what a relaxing holiday is all about. 😅 No matter which way you turn, you can always see Cangshan Mountain in the distance.
