Light can transform a city faster than an architect. I adore light shows. And sometimes even by accident and for free, but brilliantly so. Today isn't about memories. I've compiled a list of places you can still visit in 2026. Here are the top 8. 1. PROSVET, Perm August 28th to 30th. FREE: all main installations and mapping. Recently, my husband and I went back to the "Cynics" theater (we already knew after our first visit that we’d definitely return). This place has a distinct, unique energy: contemporary, bold, yet profoundly reflective of the world. They embrace honesty, avoiding fancy words, and speak about life as it is—with irony, pain, and love. This time, we watched "A Guy’s Love," based on Pavel Selukov's prose. It was powerful, sincere, and utterly moving. The format is a "non-intellectual tale" presented as storytelling. The stage embodies Perm in the early 2000s, specifically the Proletarka district. It portrays fearless, funny, and occasionally deeply touching stories about life on the outskirts, exploring friendship, love, and self-discovery. Everything feels raw and genuine—nostalgia, street humor, and the gritty language that truly reflects street life. There’s absolutely no pretense here! Themes are approached with boldness and transparency. It’s this raw sincerity that provokes essential thoughts about life and love. Proletarka isn’t just a district in Perm; it symbolizes any suburban area where people grow up, make mistakes, fall in love, and search for meaning. Music, lighting, and visuals came together perfectly—it wasn’t just a "play on stage," but a captivating show that deeply connects with your mind and soul. The actors were simply outstanding! They were incredibly genuine, mischievous, and daring, making you sink into your seat, afraid to miss even a single gesture or glance. We laughed, wondered, and sometimes felt horrified, but our admiration never wavered. By the end, the audience applauded standing, danced along, and praised the director, reluctant to let the actors leave the stage. The "Cynics" theater has a one-of-a-kind energy. The experience isn’t just packed with emotions but also leaves you with substantial food for thought and soul.

For me, this is a special place, where the hustle and bustle of the city gives way to true peace. If you come to Perm, you'll definitely want to stop by, but I want to share how to truly experience this space, without the rush and unnecessary noise. Space for Everyone The area here has been very cleverly organized, divided into different thematic zones. For those who enjoy an active lifestyle, a sports area has been created. It's here that the soft rubberized paths are laid out, perfect for running, and on the manicured lawns nearby, girls often practice yoga. A little further away are soccer and basketball courts, table tennis tables, and modern outdoor exercise equipment. For children, the playgrounds are divided by age, from areas for the very youngest to climbing frames and swings for older kids. And all of this is surrounded by flowers and manicured greenery. City events are regularly held on the embankment stages, so the area is usually bustling with activity. My life hack Despite all this developed infrastructure, my greatest love is the embankment on weekdays. When the hustle and bustle subsides and the crowds thin out, the place reveals a completely different side. It doesn't matter to me what time I read a book – I enjoy it equally during the day and on warm evenings. Sometimes it gets hot here during the day, and there's almost nowhere to hide from the scorching sun. Because of this, I recommend bringing drinking water with you 💧☀️. Restrooms on the embankment are easy to find, but finding water can be challenging – there are sometimes long lines at the tents. But if you plan ahead and bring a bottle, you won't have to worry about anything. My ideal ritual is to find a free bench with a backrest, open my favorite book, listen to the silence, breathe in the cool river air, and simply gaze at the endless Kama. And it's precisely in moments like these that you best understand whether a city has character. Perm greeted me without trying to charm me right away. Before my flight, I decided to check out the business lounge at Perm Airport and try it out myself 👀 It's located after security, and it's quite spacious, bright, and quiet. There are various seating areas, charging points, and a generally decent layout if you want to take a breather before boarding. But compared to other regional lounges, it feels like the emphasis here is more on space than service. When I arrived, there were already a lot of people, and the food was a bit of a hassle. The hot dishes were quickly taken, refills were slow, and the coffee machine wasn't working at all when I arrived, so I had to settle for tea ☕️ According to those who have been here before, this is pretty common during rush hour. If you're expecting a full meal and a good selection, it's best to arrive early and keep your expectations low. On the plus side, it's clean, tidy, and quiet. From here, it’s an easy walk to Komsomolsky Prospect ☕ You'll find coffee shops, beautiful facades, bustling energy, locals, and the feel of a vibrant downtown. If you want to add something a bit more peaceful and beautiful to your day, you can check out the Perm State Art Gallery 🎨 and the Gribushin House next ✨ The gallery is perfect if you love art and quieter spaces. The Gribushin House is worth adding to your list just for its stunning architecture and details. After that, you can make your way to the Opera and Ballet Theater 🎭 This is a much calmer part of the walk. It’s a great place to slow down, wander aimlessly, or take a coffee break. As evening approaches, it’s best to circle back to the embankment 🌅 At sunset, it feels completely different. The light is softer, the crowds thin out, and your entire route seems to come together into one perfect picture. 📍In short, my one-day itinerary would look like this: Kama River Embankment → bronze bears → Permyak Salty Ears → Komsomolsky Prospect → Art Gallery → Gribushin House → Opera and Ballet Theater → back to the embankment for sunset 🤍 This is exactly how Perm truly opens up to you. Begin your visit at the gallery, where you’ll find not only captivating exhibitions but also some insta-worthy angles - especially the futuristic entrance and snowy skyline views from the upper floors. Don’t miss snapping a photo from outside, with the high-rise buildings and winter scenery as your backdrop!
