📅 Itinerary Day1:Early train from London to Shanklin via Portsmouth and Ferry on route, easy travel. Lovely afternoon tea with creamy scones at the Old thatched tea shop, stroll down the Shanklin Chine, amazing views to the beach with the Fisherman’s pub to greet you Day2: Take the Island Coaster, easy bus trip taking in the scenic views across Ventnor, Blackgang Chine to Alum Bay where you can get off and visit the Needles, and search fossils on the beach, easy ride down if you take the Chairlift.. take the return Bus via Newport as you can see the local villages of Godshill and beautiful countryside on route back to Shanklin.. visit the Shanklin Chine at night for a romantic fairy tale adventure Day3: Shop in the Old village for souvenirs and charity shops for some old memorabilia.. Grab breakfast in Shanklin and take the train back to Ryde pier, enjoy the views of the south coast, grab a bite at the Harbour house for lunch.. and take the ferry back to Portsmouth and make your way back to London in time for the evening 🏨 Accommodation Luccombe is a better quieter place with great views of the Bay.. several Airbnb and hotel options 🍴 Food Recommendations Eat at the Steamer Inn or The Crab in the old village Townhouse Bar is great for catching a few drinks and sports on TV 📌 Tips Sleepy and relaxed vibe, shops and cafes don’t really open before 10am so plan accordingly #travel2026 #couplestrip #shanklin #seascapes

Osborne House in East Cowes, on the Isle of Wight, is a must-see local attraction for anyone interested in royal history, culture, and architecture. Owned now by English Heritage, this stately home was once Queen Victoria's summer retreat, where she could escape the stress of royal life and enjoy the countryside, beautiful sea views, and time with family. 💐 What to see The house itself is definitely worth exploring. Inside, the rooms are well-presented with original furniture and artwork, with ornate decor. There are also some smaller museum-like sections, where you can read about the history of the property and royal family. During special occasions such as the Christmas festive season, they add traditional decorations and ornaments. Outside the main house, you can also explore the gardens. These are kept relatively simple, with seasonal flowers and a beautiful fountain courtyard. Most of the grounds are left as grass and woodland, with beautiful views down to the sea. Here, there is a small private beach area with a great cafe. Finally, don't forget to also pop into the cottage. This was used by the queen's children, and now has a great museum dedicated to them. You can see traditional toys and crafts, as well as admire their personal collections. 🚍 Transport Osborne House can easily be reached by foot or a short bus journey from the East Cowes Red Funnel ferry terminal. 🍛 Food & Drink On site, there are a selection of small cafes serving lunch food, coffee, cakes, etc. The prices are quite reasonable, with a discount for English Heritage members. had a great weekend at white house b&b in ryde lovely n clean room and stunning breakfast every morning thanks to Jeremy and Diana for a fantastic stay yet again and even provided extra pillows with out hesitation and even asked about my partner and her bad hip can't recommend theese guys hard enough 8 star b&b

The Isle of Wight…I pop on the ferry and a trip for the day with the need for accessibility to be easy as we travelled with a wheelchair, all good and no issues, even have hoisting toilets so absolute bliss! Travelled to the Isle of Wight for a nice summer’s day trip. We took the Wightlink ferry from Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier. Explored around the island on the buses and visited many beaches such as Ryde beach. You can also visit Shanklin and Compton beaches on the island line train service. The needles was a great attraction with a chairlift showing some great views! #isleofwight #Summer #mountainview
