Penang | A 30-Foot-Tall Giant Goddess of Mercy Statue

#georgetowntrip This is the largest Chinese Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia, and it holds deep cultural significance for the people of Penang. At the top of the mountain stands a 9-meter-tall (approx. 30 feet) statue of the Goddess of Mercy (Guanyin) — you can really feel how devoted the locals are. Entrance Fees: Most areas of the temple are free to enter, but access to the Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas requires an extra RM2 ticket. Getting Up the Mountain: You can walk or take transport to different sections — the transport is split into paid segments, so you can mix walking and riding: Cable Car A (RM3): From the base to the Pavilion (Da Shi Dian) Shuttle Bus (RM2–3): From the Pavilion to the Main Hall & Pagoda Cable Car B (RM3): From the Main Hall area to the Giant Guanyin statue at the summit Tip: It’s best to walk part of the way and take Cable Car B for the last section to save energy and catch the best views. #travel
