Main attractions, stupa During the course of history, Tianning Temple has been renamed several times. It was first called "Guanglin Temple", then changed to "Hongye Temple" in the second year of Renshou in Sui Dynasty, "Tianwang Temple" in Kaiyuan period of Tang Dynasty, and changed to "Dawan'an Zen Temple" in the 21st year of Dading in Jin Dynasty. During the Yuan Dynasty, the temple was damaged many times by wars and was not rebuilt until the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. In the tenth year of Ming Xuande, the temple was renamed "Tianning Temple". During the Zhengtong period, it was briefly renamed "Guangshan Ordination Platform". It was not until the Qing Dynasty that the name was once again determined as "Tianning Temple".
